	역대하 13:1-15:19 르호보암에 이어 왕위에 오른 유다 왕 아비야는 북이스라엘 여로보암과의 전투에서 전력상 열세에도 불구하고 대승을 거두었다. 유다의 3대 왕 아사는 우상을 파하고 성읍을 건축하는 등의 선정을 베풀므로써, 세라의 침입시 하나님의 도우심을 받아 승리할 수 있었다. 아사는 아사랴의 예언을 듣고 종교 개혁을 시행했으며, 이에 하나님께서는 왕국의 평안을 허락하셨다.

	아비야의 유다 통치(13:1-13:22)

여로보암 왕 열여덟째 해에 아비야가 유다의 왕이 되고

예루살렘에서 삼 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 미가야요 기브아 사람 우리엘의 딸이더라 아비야가 여로보암과 더불어 싸울새

아비야는 싸움에 용감한 군사 사십만 명을 택하여 싸움을 준비하였고 여로보암은 큰 용사 팔십만 명을 택하여 그와 대진한지라

아비야가 에브라임 산 중 스마라임 산 위에 서서 이르되 여로보암과 이스라엘 무리들아 다 들으라

이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 소금 언약으로 이스라엘 나라를 영원히 다윗과 그의 자손에게 주신 것을 너희가 알 것 아니냐

In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah.

He reigned three years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. Now there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

Abijah began the battle with an army of valiant warriors, 400,000 chosen men, while Jeroboam drew up in battle formation against him with 800,000 chosen men who were valiant warriors.

Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, "Listen to me, Jeroboam and all Israel:

"Do you not know that the LORD God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?

다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 신하 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 일어나 자기의 주를 배반하고

난봉꾼과 잡배가 모여 따르므로 스스로 강하게 되어 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 대적하였으나 그 때에 르호보암이 어리고 마음이 연약하여 그들의 입을 능히 막지 못하였었느니라

이제 너희가 또 다윗 자손의 손으로 다스리는 여호와의 나라를 대적하려 하는도다 너희는 큰 무리요 또 여로보암이 너희를 위하여 신으로 만든 금송아지들이 너희와 함께 있도다

너희가 아론 자손인 여호와의 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 쫓아내고 이방 백성들의 풍속을 따라 제사장을 삼지 아니하였느냐 누구를 막론하고 어린 수송아지 한 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 끌고 와서 장립을 받고자 하는 자마다 허무한 신들의 제사장이 될 수 있도다

우리에게는 여호와께서 우리 하나님이 되시니 우리가 그를 배반하지 아니하였고 여호와를 섬기는 제사장들이 있으니 아론의 자손이요 또 레위 사람들이 수종 들어

"Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master,

and worthless men gathered about him, scoundrels, who proved too strong for Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when he was young and timid and could not hold his own against them.

"So now you intend to resist the kingdom of the LORD through the sons of David, being a great multitude and having with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made for gods for you.

"Have you not driven out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, and made for yourselves priests like the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, even he may become a priest of what are no gods.

"But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; and the sons of Aaron are ministering to the LORD as priests, and the Levites attend to their work.

매일 아침 저녁으로 여호와 앞에 번제를 드리며 분향하며 또 깨끗한 상에 진설병을 놓고 또 금 등잔대가 있어 그 등에 저녁마다 불을 켜나니 우리는 우리 하나님 여호와의 계명을 지키나 너희는 그를 배반하였느니라

하나님이 우리와 함께 하사 우리의 머리가 되시고 그의 제사장들도 우리와 함께 하여 전쟁의 나팔을 불어 너희를 공격하느니라 이스라엘 자손들아 너희 조상들의 하나님 여호와와 싸우지 말라 너희가 형통하지 못하리라

여로보암이 유다의 뒤를 둘러 복병하였으므로 그 앞에는 이스라엘 사람들이 있고 그 뒤에는 복병이 있는지라

유다 사람이 뒤를 돌아보고 자기 앞 뒤의 적병으로 말미암아 여호와께 부르짖고 제사장들은 나팔을 부니라

유다 사람이 소리 지르매 유다 사람이 소리 지를 때에 하나님이 여로보암과 온 이스라엘을 아비야와 유다 앞에서 치시니

"Every morning and evening they burn to the LORD burnt offerings and fragrant incense, and the showbread is set on the clean table, and the golden lampstand with its lamps is ready to light every evening; for we keep the charge of the LORD our God, but you have forsaken Him.

"Now behold, God is with us at our head and His priests with the signal trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against the LORD God of your fathers, for you will not succeed."

But Jeroboam had set an ambush to come from the rear, so that Israel was in front of Judah and the ambush was behind them.

When Judah turned around, behold, they were attacked both front and rear; so they cried to the LORD, and the priests blew the trumpets.

Then the men of Judah raised a war cry, and when the men of Judah raised the war cry, then it was that God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

이스라엘 자손이 유다 앞에서 도망하는지라 하나님이 그들의 손에 넘기셨으므로

아비야와 그의 백성이 크게 무찌르니 이스라엘이 택한 병사들이 죽임을 당하고 엎드러진 자들이 오십만 명이었더라

그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 항복하고 유다 자손이 이겼으니 이는 그들이 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 의지하였음이라

아비야가 여로보암을 쫓아가서 그의 성읍들을 빼앗았으니 곧 벧엘과 그 동네들과 여사나와 그 동네들과 에브론과 그 동네들이라

아비야 때에 여로보암이 다시 강성하지 못하고 여호와의 치심을 입어 죽었고

When the sons of Israel fled before Judah, God gave them into their hand.

Abijah and his people defeated them with a great slaughter, so that 500,000 chosen men of Israel fell slain.

Thus the sons of Israel were subdued at that time, and the sons of Judah conquered because they trusted in the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured from him several cities, Bethel with its villages, Jeshanah with its villages and Ephron with its villages.

Jeroboam did not again recover strength in the days of Abijah; and the LORD struck him and he died.

아비야는 점점 강성하며 아내 열넷을 거느려 아들 스물둘과 딸 열여섯을 낳았더라

아비야의 남은 사적과 그의 행위와 그의 말은 선지자 잇도의 주석 책에 기록되니라

But Abijah became powerful; and took fourteen wives to himself, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways and his words are written in the treatise of the prophet Iddo.

	아사의 유다 통치(14:1-14:15)

아비야가 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아사가 대신하여 왕이 되니 그의 시대에 그의 땅이 십 년 동안 평안하니라

아사가 그의 하나님 여호와 보시기에 선과 정의를 행하여

이방 제단과 산당을 없애고 주상을 깨뜨리며 아세라 상을 찍고

유다 사람에게 명하여 그 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 찾게 하며 그의 율법과 명령을 행하게 하고

또 유다 모든 성읍에서 산당과 태양상을 없애매 나라가 그 앞에서 평안함을 누리니라

So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and his son Asa became king in his place. The land was undisturbed for ten years during his days.

Asa did good and right in the sight of the LORD his God,

for he removed the foreign altars and high places, tore down the sacred pillars, cut down the Asherim,

and commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers and to observe the law and the commandment.

He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah. And the kingdom was undisturbed under him.

여호와께서 아사에게 평안을 주셨으므로 그 땅이 평안하여 여러 해 싸움이 없은지라 그가 견고한 성읍들을 유다에 건축하니라

아사가 일찍이 유다 사람에게 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와를 찾았으므로 이 땅이 아직 우리 앞에 있나니 우리가 이 성읍들을 건축하고 그 주위에 성곽과 망대와 문과 빗장을 만들자 우리가 주를 찾았으므로 주께서 우리 사방에 평안을 주셨느니라 하고 이에 그들이 성읍을 형통하게 건축하였더라

아사의 군대는 유다 중에서 큰 방패와 창을 잡는 자가 삼십만 명이요 베냐민 중에서 작은 방패를 잡으며 활을 당기는 자가 이십팔만 명이라 그들은 다 큰 용사였더라

구스 사람 세라가 그들을 치려 하여 군사 백만 명과 병거 삼백 대를 거느리고 마레사에 이르매

아사가 마주 나가서 마레사의 스바다 골짜기에 전열을 갖추고

He built fortified cities in Judah, since the land was undisturbed, and there was no one at war with him during those years, because the LORD had given him rest.

For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.

Now Asa had an army of 300,000 from Judah, bearing large shields and spears, and 280,000 from Benjamin, bearing shields and wielding bows; all of them were valiant warriors.

Now Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and 300 chariots, and he came to Mareshah.

So Asa went out to meet him, and they drew up in battle formation in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

아사가 그의 하나님 여호와께 부르짖어 이르되 여호와여 힘이 강한 자와 약한 자 사이에는 주밖에 도와 줄 이가 없사오니 우리 하나님 여호와여 우리를 도우소서 우리가 주를 의지하오며 주의 이름을 의탁하옵고 이 많은 무리를 치러 왔나이다 여호와여 주는 우리 하나님이시오니 원하건대 사람이 주를 이기지 못하게 하옵소서 하였더니

여호와께서 구스 사람들을 아사와 유다 사람들 앞에서 치시니 구스 사람들이 도망하는지라

아사와 그와 함께 한 백성이 구스 사람들을 추격하여 그랄까지 이르매 이에 구스 사람들이 엎드러지고 살아 남은 자가 없었으니 이는 여호와 앞에서와 그의 군대 앞에서 패망하였음이라 노략한 물건이 매우 많았더라

여호와께서 그랄 사면 모든 성읍 백성을 두렵게 하시니 무리가 그의 모든 성읍을 치고 그 가운데에 있는 많은 물건을 노략하고

또 짐승 지키는 천막을 치고 양과 낙타를 많이 이끌고 예루살렘으로 돌아왔더라

Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, "LORD, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; let not man prevail against You."

So the LORD routed the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar; and so many Ethiopians fell that they could not recover, for they were shattered before the LORD and before His army. And they carried away very much plunder.

They destroyed all the cities around Gerar, for the dread of the LORD had fallen on them; and they despoiled all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.

They also struck down those who owned livestock, and they carried away large numbers of sheep and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.

	아사랴의 훈계와 아사의 개혁(15:1-15:19)

하나님의 영이 오뎃의 아들 아사랴에게 임하시매

그가 나가서 아사를 맞아 이르되 아사와 및 유다와 베냐민의 무리들아 내 말을 들으라 너희가 여호와와 함께 하면 여호와께서 너희와 함께 하실지라 너희가 만일 그를 찾으면 그가 너희와 만나게 되시려니와 너희가 만일 그를 버리면 그도 너희를 버리시리라

이스라엘에는 참 신이 없고 가르치는 제사장도 없고 율법도 없은 지가 오래 되었으나

그들이 그 환난 때에 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께로 돌아가서 찾으매 그가 그들과 만나게 되셨나니

그 때에 온 땅의 모든 주민이 크게 요란하여 사람의 출입이 평안하지 못하며

Now the Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded,

and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the LORD is with you when you are with Him And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

"For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law.

"But in their distress they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him.

"In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for many disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.

이 나라와 저 나라가 서로 치고 이 성읍이 저 성읍과 또한 그러하여 피차 상한 바 되었나니 이는 하나님이 여러 가지 고난으로 요란하게 하셨음이라

그런즉 너희는 강하게 하라 너희의 손이 약하지 않게 하라 너희 행위에는 상급이 있음이라 하니라

아사가 이 말 곧 선지자 오뎃의 예언을 듣고 마음을 강하게 하여 가증한 물건들을 유다와 베냐민 온 땅에서 없애고 또 에브라임 산지에서 빼앗은 성읍들에서도 없애고 또 여호와의 낭실 앞에 있는 여호와의 제단을 재건하고

또 유다와 베냐민의 무리를 모으고 에브라임과 므낫세와 시므온 가운데에서 나와서 저희 중에 머물러 사는 자들을 모았으니 이는 이스라엘 사람들이 아사의 하나님 여호와께서 그와 함께 하심을 보고 아사에게로 돌아오는 자가 많았음이더라

아사 왕 제십오년 셋째 달에 그들이 예루살렘에 모이고

"Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress.

"But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work."

Now when Asa heard these words and the prophecy which Azariah the son of Oded the prophet spoke, he took courage and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim He then restored the altar of the LORD which was in front of the porch of the LORD.

He gathered all Judah and Benjamin and those from Ephraim, Manasseh and Simeon who resided with them, for many defected to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

So they assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa's reign.

그 날에 노략하여 온 물건 중에서 소 칠백 마리와 양 칠천 마리로 여호와께 제사를 지내고

또 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하여 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 찾기로 언약하고

이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 찾지 아니하는 자는 대소 남녀를 막론하고 죽이는 것이 마땅하다 하고

무리가 큰 소리로 외치며 피리와 나팔을 불어 여호와께 맹세하매

온 유다가 이 맹세를 기뻐한지라 무리가 마음을 다하여 맹세하고 뜻을 다하여 여호와를 찾았으므로 여호와께서도 그들을 만나 주시고 그들의 사방에 평안을 주셨더라

They sacrificed to the LORD that day 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep from the spoil they had brought.

They entered into the covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and soul;

and whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.

Moreover, they made an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets and with horns.

All Judah rejoiced concerning the oath, for they had sworn with their whole heart and had sought Him earnestly, and He let them find Him. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.

아사 왕의 어머니 마아가가 아세라의 가증한 목상을 만들었으므로 아사가 그의 태후의 자리를 폐하고 그의 우상을 찍고 빻아 기드론 시냇가에서 불살랐으니

산당은 이스라엘 중에서 제하지 아니하였으나 아사의 마음이 일평생 온전하였더라

그가 또 그의 아버지가 구별한 물건과 자기가 구별한 물건 곧 은과 금과 그릇들을 하나님의 전에 드렸더니

이 때부터 아사 왕 제삼십오년까지 다시는 전쟁이 없으니라

He also removed Maacah, the mother of King Asa, from the position of queen mother, because she had made a horrid image as an Asherah, and Asa cut down her horrid image, crushed it and burned it at the brook Kidron.

But the high places were not removed from Israel; nevertheless Asa's heart was blameless all his days.

He brought into the house of God the dedicated things of his father and his own dedicated things: silver and gold and utensils.

And there was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign.
