	역대하 21:1-23:21 여호람은 자신의 형제와 방백들을 죽이고 산당을 세워 우상 숭배를 강요하는 등의 악정을 행하였다. 하나님께서는 그를 블레셋과 아라비아를 통해 징계하여 비참한 최후를 맞게 하셨다. 여호람의 아들 아하시야도 악정을 행하다가 예후의 손에 죽었다. 그러자 아달랴가 왕위 찬탈을 위해 다윗 왕가의 진멸을 꾀했는데, 결국은 극적으로 구출된 요아스가 여호야다의 개혁에 의해 왕위에 올랐다.

	여호람의 유다 통치(21:1-21:20)

여호사밧이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 여호람이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

여호사밧의 아들 여호람의 아우들 아사랴와 여히엘과 스가랴와 아사랴와 미가엘과 스바댜는 다 유다 왕 여호사밧의 아들들이라

그의 아버지가 그들에게는 은금과 보물과 유다 견고한 성읍들을 선물로 후히 주었고 여호람은 장자이므로 왕위를 주었더니

여호람이 그의 아버지의 왕국을 다스리게 되어 세력을 얻은 후에 그의 모든 아우들과 이스라엘 방백들 중 몇 사람을 칼로 죽였더라

여호람이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 삼십이 세라 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 다스리니라

Then Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son became king in his place.

He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azaryahu, Michael and Shephatiah. All these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

Their father gave them many gifts of silver, gold and precious things, with fortified cities in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.

Now when Jehoram had taken over the kingdom of his father and made himself secure, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and some of the rulers of Israel also.

Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

그가 이스라엘 왕들의 길로 행하여 아합의 집과 같이 하였으니 이는 아합의 딸이 그의 아내가 되었음이라 그가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으나

여호와께서 다윗의 집을 멸하기를 즐겨하지 아니하셨음은 이전에 다윗과 더불어 언약을 세우시고 또 다윗과 그의 자손에게 항상 등불을 주겠다고 말씀하셨음이더라

여호람 때에 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 지배하에서 벗어나 자기 위에 왕을 세우므로

여호람이 지휘관들과 모든 병거를 거느리고 출정하였더니 밤에 일어나서 자기를 에워싼 에돔 사람과 그 병거의 지휘관들을 쳤더라

이와 같이 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 지배하에서 벗어났더니 오늘까지 그러하였으며 그 때에 립나도 배반하여 여호람의 지배 하에서 벗어났으니 이는 그가 그의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 버렸음이더라

He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab did (for Ahab's daughter was his wife), and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

Yet the LORD was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant which He had made with David, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.

In his days Edom revolted against the rule of Judah and set up a king over themselves.

Then Jehoram crossed over with his commanders and all his chariots with him. And he arose by night and struck down the Edomites who were surrounding him and the commanders of the chariots.

So Edom revolted against Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time against his rule, because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

여호람이 또 유다 여러 산에 산당을 세워 예루살렘 주민으로 음행하게 하고 또 유다를 미혹하게 하였으므로

선지자 엘리야가 여호람에게 글을 보내어 이르되 왕의 조상 다윗의 하나님 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 네가 네 아비 여호사밧의 길과 유다 왕 아사의 길로 행하지 아니하고

오직 이스라엘 왕들의 길로 행하여 유다와 예루살렘 주민들이 음행하게 하기를 아합의 집이 음행하듯 하며 또 네 아비 집에서 너보다 착한 아우들을 죽였으니

여호와가 네 백성과 네 자녀들과 네 아내들과 네 모든 재물을 큰 재앙으로 치시리라

또 너는 창자에 중병이 들고 그 병이 날로 중하여 창자가 빠져나오리라 하셨다 하였더라

Moreover, he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot and led Judah astray.

Then a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet saying, "Thus says the LORD God of your father David, 'Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father and the ways of Asa king of Judah,

but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot as the house of Ahab played the harlot, and you have also killed your brothers, your own family, who were better than you,

behold, the LORD is going to strike your people, your sons, your wives and all your possessions with a great calamity;

and you will suffer severe sickness, a disease of your bowels, until your bowels come out because of the sickness, day by day.'"

여호와께서 블레셋 사람들과 구스에서 가까운 아라비아 사람들의 마음을 격동시키사 여호람을 치게 하셨으므로

그들이 올라와서 유다를 침략하여 왕궁의 모든 재물과 그의 아들들과 아내들을 탈취하였으므로 막내 아들 여호아하스 외에는 한 아들도 남지 아니하였더라

이 모든 일 후에 여호와께서 여호람을 치사 능히 고치지 못할 병이 그 창자에 들게 하셨으므로

여러 날 후 이 년 만에 그의 창자가 그 병으로 말미암아 빠져나오매 그가 그 심한 병으로 죽으니 백성이 그들의 조상들에게 분향하던 것 같이 그에게 분향하지 아니하였으며

여호람이 삼십이 세에 즉위하고 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 다스리다가 아끼는 자 없이 세상을 떠났으며 무리가 그를 다윗 성에 장사하였으나 열왕의 묘실에는 두지 아니하였더라

Then the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabs who bordered the Ethiopians;

and they came against Judah and invaded it, and carried away all the possessions found in the king's house together with his sons and his wives, so that no son was left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

So after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable sickness.

Now it came about in the course of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels came out because of his sickness and he died in great pain. And his people made no fire for him like the fire for his fathers.

He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years; and he departed with no one's regret, and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

	아하시야의 유다 통치(22:1-22:12)

예루살렘 주민이 여호람의 막내 아들 아하시야에게 왕위를 계승하게 하였으니 이는 전에 아라비아 사람들과 함께 와서 진을 치던 부대가 그의 모든 형들을 죽였음이라 그러므로 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 왕이 되었더라

아하시야가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 사십이 세라 예루살렘에서 일 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 아달랴요 오므리의 손녀더라

아하시야도 아합의 집 길로 행하였으니 이는 그의 어머니가 꾀어 악을 행하게 하였음이라

그의 아버지가 죽은 후에 그가 패망하게 하는 아합의 집의 가르침을 따라 여호와 보시기에 아합의 집 같이 악을 행하였더라

아하시야가 아합의 집의 가르침을 따라 이스라엘 왕 아합의 아들 요람과 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가서 아람 왕 하사엘과 더불어 싸우더니 아람 사람들이 요람을 상하게 한지라

Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place, for the band of men who came with the Arabs to the camp had slain all the older sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.

He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

He did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

He also walked according to their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to wage war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead. But the Arameans wounded Joram.

요람이 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸울 때에 라마에서 맞아 상한 것을 치료하려 하여 이스르엘로 돌아왔더라 아합의 아들 요람이 병이 있으므로 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아사랴가 이스르엘에 내려가서 방문하였더라

아하시야가 요람에게 가므로 해를 입었으니 이는 하나님께로 말미암은 것이라 아하시야가 갔다가 요람과 함께 나가서 님시의 아들 예후를 맞았으니 그는 여호와께서 기름을 부으시고 아합의 집을 멸하게 하신 자이더라

예후로 하여금 아합의 집을 심판하게 하실 때에 유다 방백들과 아하시야의 형제들의 아들들 곧 아하시야를 섬기는 자들을 만나서 죽였고

아하시야는 사마리아에 숨었더니 예후가 찾으매 무리가 그를 예후에게로 잡아가서 죽이고 이르기를 그는 전심으로 여호와를 구하던 여호사밧의 아들이라 하고 장사하였더라 이에 아하시야의 집이 약하여 왕위를 힘으로 지키지 못하게 되니라

아하시야의 어머니 아달랴가 자기의 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 유다 집의 왕국의 씨를 모두 진멸하였으나

So he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had inflicted on him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

Now the destruction of Ahaziah was from God, in that he went to Joram For when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

It came about when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers ministering to Ahaziah, and slew them.

He also sought Ahaziah, and they caught him while he was hiding in Samaria; they brought him to Jehu, put him to death and buried him For they said, "He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart." So there was no one of the house of Ahaziah to retain the power of the kingdom.

Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.

왕의 딸 여호사브앗이 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 왕자들이 죽임을 당하는 중에서 몰래 빼내어 그와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겨 아달랴를 피하게 하였으므로 아달랴가 그를 죽이지 못하였더라 여호사브앗은 여호람 왕의 딸이요 아하시야의 누이요 제사장 여호야다의 아내이더라

요아스가 그들과 함께 하나님의 전에 육 년을 숨어 있는 동안에 아달랴가 나라를 다스렸더라

But Jehoshabeath the king's daughter took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she would not put him to death.

He was hidden with them in the house of God six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.

	제사장 여호야다의 개혁(23:1-23:21)

제칠년에 여호야다가 용기를 내어 백부장 곧 여로함의 아들 아사랴와 여호하난의 아들 이스마엘과 오벳의 아들 아사랴와 아다야의 아들 마아세야와 시그리의 아들 엘리사밧 등과 더불어 언약을 세우매

그들이 유다를 두루 다니며 유다 모든 고을에서 레위 사람들과 이스라엘 족장들을 모아 예루살렘에 이른지라

온 회중이 하나님의 전에서 왕과 언약을 세우매 여호야다가 무리에게 이르되 여호와께서 다윗의 자손에게 대하여 말씀하신 대로 왕자가 즉위하여야 할지니

이제 너희는 이와 같이 행하라 너희 제사장들과 레위 사람들 곧 안식일에 당번인 자들의 삼분의 일은 문을 지키고

삼분의 일은 왕궁에 있고 삼분의 일은 기초문에 있고 백성들은 여호와의 전 뜰에 있을지라

Now in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took captains of hundreds: Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Johanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, and they entered into a covenant with him.

They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the heads of the fathers' households of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

Then all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has spoken concerning the sons of David.

"This is the thing which you shall do: one third of you, of the priests and Levites who come in on the sabbath, shall be gatekeepers,

and one third shall be at the king's house, and a third at the Gate of the Foundation; and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.

제사장들과 수종 드는 레위 사람들은 거룩한즉 여호와의 전에 들어오려니와 그 외의 다른 사람은 들어오지 못할 것이니 모든 백성은 여호와께 지켜야 할 바를 지킬지며

레위 사람들은 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 다른 사람이 성전에 들어오거든 죽이고 왕이 출입할 때에 경호할지니라 하니

레위 사람들과 모든 유다 사람들이 제사장 여호야다가 명령한 모든 것을 준행하여 각기 수하에 안식일에 당번인 자와 안식일에 비번인 자들을 거느리고 있었으니 이는 제사장 여호야다가 비번인 자들을 보내지 아니함이더라

제사장 여호야다가 하나님의 전 안에 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 큰 방패와 작은 방패를 백부장들에게 주고

또 백성들에게 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 성전 오른쪽에서부터 성전 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 곁에 서게 하고

"But let no one enter the house of the LORD except the priests and the ministering Levites; they may enter, for they are holy. And let all the people keep the charge of the LORD.

"The Levites will surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever enters the house, let him be killed. Thus be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out."

So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each one of them took his men who were to come in on the sabbath, with those who were to go out on the sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest did not dismiss any of the divisions.

Then Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and the large and small shields which had been King David's, which were in the house of God.

He stationed all the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, by the altar and by the house, around the king.

무리가 왕자를 인도해 내어 면류관을 씌우며 율법책을 주고 세워 왕으로 삼을새 여호야다와 그의 아들들이 그에게 기름을 붓고 이르기를 왕이여 만세 수를 누리소서 하니라

아달랴가 백성들이 뛰며 왕을 찬송하는 소리를 듣고 여호와의 전에 들어가서 백성에게 이르러

보매 왕이 성전 문 기둥 곁에 섰고 지휘관들과 나팔수들이 왕의 곁에 모셔 서 있으며 그 땅의 모든 백성들이 즐거워하여 나팔을 불며 노래하는 자들은 주악하며 찬송을 인도하는지라 이에 아달랴가 그의 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매

제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들을 불러내어 이르되 반열 밖으로 몰아내라 그를 따르는 자는 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 전에서는 그를 죽이지 말라 함이라

이에 무리가 그에게 길을 열어 주고 그가 왕궁 말문 어귀에 이를 때에 거기서 죽였더라

Then they brought out the king's son and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony and made him king And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him and said, "Long live the king!"

When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came into the house of the LORD to the people.

She looked, and behold, the king was standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpeters were beside the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets, the singers with their musical instruments leading the praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and said, "Treason! Treason!"

Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were appointed over the army and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, put to death with the sword." For the priest said, "Let her not be put to death in the house of the LORD."

So they seized her, and when she arrived at the entrance of the Horse Gate of the king's house, they put her to death there.

여호야다가 자기와 모든 백성과 왕 사이에 언약을 세워 여호와의 백성이 되리라 한지라

온 국민이 바알의 신당으로 가서 그 신당을 부수고 그의 제단들과 형상들을 깨뜨리고 그 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라

여호야다가 여호와의 전의 직원들을 세워 레위 제사장의 수하에 맡기니 이들은 다윗이 전에 그들의 반열을 나누어서 여호와의 전에서 모세의 율법에 기록한 대로 여호와께 번제를 드리며 자기들의 정한 규례대로 즐거이 부르고 노래하게 하였던 자들이더라

또 문지기를 여호와의 전 여러 문에 두어 무슨 일에든지 부정한 모든 자는 들어오지 못하게 하고

백부장들과 존귀한 자들과 백성의 방백들과 그 땅의 모든 백성을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 전에서 내려와 윗문으로부터 왕궁에 이르러 왕을 나라 보좌에 앉히매

Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king, that they would be the LORD'S people.

And all the people went to the house of Baal and tore it down, and they broke in pieces his altars and his images, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

Moreover, Jehoiada placed the offices of the house of the LORD under the authority of the Levitical priests, whom David had assigned over the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses--with rejoicing and singing according to the order of David.

He stationed the gatekeepers of the house of the LORD, so that no one would enter who was in any way unclean.

He took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the LORD, and came through the upper gate to the king's house. And they placed the king upon the royal throne.

그 땅의 모든 백성이 즐거워하고 성중이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 칼로 죽였었더라

So all of the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet. For they had put Athaliah to death with the sword.
