신명기 2:1-3:22

 모세는 가데스 바네아에서 벧브올까지의 여정을 회고하면서 그 동안 이스라엘 민족이 겪었던 일들을 언급했다. 에돔, 모압, 암몬 족속을 괴롭게 하지 말라는 하나님의 말씀에 따라 그들의 땅을 우회한 이스라엘은 헤스본 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥을 정복했다. 요단 강 동편 지역은 므낫세 반 지파와 르우벤, 갓 지파에게 분배되었다.
  
  광야 여정에 대한 회고(2:1-3:22)    
 
  1. '결국 우리는 여호와께서 명령하신대로 발길을 돌려 홍해로 가는 길을 따라 광야로 들어가게 되었고 거기서 우리는 오랫동안 세일산 주변을 맴돌았습니다.
  2. 그때 여호와께서 '너희는 여기서 오랫동안 머물러 있었으니 이제 북쪽으로 가거라.' 하고 나에게 말씀하시며
  3. (2절과 같음)
  4. 여러분에게 이렇게 전하라고 하셨습니다. '너희는 너희 먼 친척인 에서의 후손들이 살고 있는 세일의 산간 지대를 통과하게 될 것이다. 그들이 너희를 두려워 하여도 너희는 조심하고
  5. 그들과 싸우지 말아라. 나는 이미 세일산 일대를 에서의 소유로 주었다. 그래서 그들의 땅을 한 치도 너희에게 주지 않겠다.
  1. Then we turned back and set out toward the desert along the route to the Red Sea, as the LORD had directed me. For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir.
  2. Then the LORD said to me,
  3. "You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north.
  4. Give the people these orders: 'You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.
  5. Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own.
  1. 음식이나 물은 그들에게 사먹어라.
  2. 너희 하나님 나 여호와는 너희가 이 넓은 광야에서 40년을 방황하는 동안 너희를 지키고 너희에게 복을 주었다. 그러므로 너희에게는 아무것도 부족한 것이 없었다.'

  1. You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.' "
  2. The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast desert. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.
  3. So we went on past our brothers the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. We turned from the Arabah road, which comes up from Elath and Ezion Geber, and traveled along the desert road of Moab.
  4. Then the LORD said to me, "Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession."
  5. (The Emites used to live there--a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.
  1. 그 들도 아낙 자손들처럼 르바 사람으로 알려졌으나 모압 사람들은 그들을 엠 사람이라고 불렀다.
  2. 호리 사람들도 세일에 살았는데 이스라엘 백성이 여호와께서 주신 땅에서 가나안 사람들을 쫓아낸 것처럼 에서의 후손들이 그들을 쫓아내고 멸망시켰다.)
  3. 다음으로 우리는 여호와의 명령에 따라 세렛 시내를 건넜습니다.
  4. 가데스-바네아를 지난 후 이 곧 세렛 시내를 건너오기까지 38년이란 세월이 지났습니다. 이 기간에 그 세대의 군인들은 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 다 죽고 말았습니다.

  1. Like the Anakites, they too were considered Rephaites, but the Moabites called them Emites.
  2. Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau drove them out. They destroyed the Horites from before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land the LORD gave them as their possession.)
  3. And the LORD said, "Now get up and cross the Zered Valley." So we crossed the valley.
  4. Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.
  5. The LORD's hand was against them until he had completely eliminated them from the camp.
  1. 이 군인들이 다 죽은 후에
  2. 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다.
  3. '오늘 너희는 모압의 국경 지대에 있는 아르를 지나게 될 것이다.

  1. Now when the last of these fighting men among the people had died,
  2. the LORD said to me,
  3. "Today you are to pass by the region of Moab at Ar.
  4. When you come to the Ammonites, do not harass them or provoke them to war, for I will not give you possession of any land belonging to the Ammonites. I have given it as a possession to the descendants of Lot."
  5. (That too was considered a land of the Rephaites, who used to live there; but the Ammonites called them Zamzummites.
  1. 그들은 아낙 자손처럼 키가 크고 수도 많은 강한 민족이었다. 그러나 여호와께서 그들을 멸망시키자 암몬 사람들이 그 곳에 들어와 살았다.
  2. 이것은 여호와께서 세일에 살고 있는 에서의 후손들을 위해 행하신 일과 똑같은 것이었다. 여호와께서 호리 사람들을 멸망시키셨으므로 에서의 후손들이 그들을 쫓아내고 오늘날까지 그 곳에 살고 있다.
  3. 그리고 갑돌 사람들도 가사에 살고 있던 아위 사람들을 멸망시키고 그 땅에 살았다.)
  4. 그때 여호와께서 우리에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '이제 너희는 여기를 떠나 아르논강을 건너가거라. 내가 헤스본의 왕 아모리 사람 시혼과 그의 땅을 너희에게 넘겨 주겠다. 그러므로 너희는 그를 치고 그 땅을 점령하여라.
  5. 오늘부터 내가 온 세상 사람들이 너희를 두려워하고 무서워하도록 하겠다. 그들이 너희 소식을 듣고 떨며 불안해 할 것이다.'
  1. They were a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. The LORD destroyed them from before the Ammonites, who drove them out and settled in their place.
  2. The LORD had done the same for the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them. They drove them out and have lived in their place to this day.
  3. And as for the Avvites who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorites coming out from Caphtor destroyed them and settled in their place.)
  4. "Set out now and cross the Arnon Gorge. See, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle.
  5. This very day I will begin to put the terror and fear of you on all the nations under heaven. They will hear reports of you and will tremble and be in anguish because of you."
  1. 그래서 나는 그데못 광야에서 헤스본 왕 시혼에게 사람을 보내 다음과 같은 평화적인 제의를 전달하게 하였습니다.
  2. 우리가 당신의 땅을 통과할 수 있게 해 주십시오. 우리가 큰 길을 벗어나지 않고 곧장 가겠습니다.
  3. 음식과 물은 당신들에게서 사서 먹겠습니다. 다만 우리가 원하는 것은 당신의 땅을 잠시 지나가려는 것뿐입니다.
  4. 세일에 사는 에서의 후손들과 아르에 사는 모압 사람들이 우리를 그들의 땅으로 지나가도록 허락해 준 것처럼 우리가 통과하는 것을 허락해 주십시오. 그러면 우리가 요단강을 건너 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 주신 땅으로 가겠습니다.'
  5. 그러나 헤스본 왕 시혼은 우리가 그의 땅으로 통과하는 것을 허락하지 않았습니다. 그것은 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 오늘날처럼 우리가 그를 쳐부수고 그 땅을 점령하게 하려고 그를 완고하게 하고 반항하게 하셨기 때문입니다.
  1. From the desert of Kedemoth I sent messengers to Sihon king of Heshbon offering peace and saying,
  2. "Let us pass through your country. We will stay on the main road; we will not turn aside to the right or to the left.
  3. Sell us food to eat and water to drink for their price in silver. Only let us pass through on foot-
  4. as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us--until we cross the Jordan into the land the LORD our God is giving us."
  5. But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through. For the LORD your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to give him into your hands, as he has now done.
  1. 그때 여호와께서는 나에게 '내가 이제 시혼과 그의 땅을 너희에게 넘겨주었다. 너희는 그 땅을 점령하여 소유하여라.' 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
  2. 시혼이 우리와 싸우려고 군대를 이끌고 야하스로 나왔으나
  3. 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그를 우리에게 넘기셨으므로 우리는 그와 그의 아들들과 그의 모든 군대를 쳐서 죽였으며
  4. 그의 모든 성을 점령하고 남자 여자 어른 아이 가릴 것 없이 모조리 죽였습니다.
  5. 그러나 빼앗은 가축과 전리품만은 우리가 소유하였습니다.
  1. The LORD said to me, "See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his country over to you. Now begin to conquer and possess his land."
  2. When Sihon and all his army came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz,
  3. the LORD our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army.
  4. At that time we took all his towns and completely destroyed them--men, women and children. We left no survivors.
  5. But the livestock and the plunder from the towns we had captured we carried off for ourselves.
  1. 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그 모든 땅을 우리에게 주셨으므로 우리는 아르논 계곡 변두리의 아로엘과 그 계곡 중앙에 있는 성에서부터 길르앗에 이르는 모든 성을 점령하였으며 성벽이 튼튼해서 점령하지 못한 성은 하나도 없었습니다.
  2. 그러나 우리는 암몬 사람의 땅과 얍복 강변 일대와 산간 지대의 성들과 그 밖에 우리 하나님 여호와께서 금지하신 곳에는 가까이 가지 않았습니다.'
  1. From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the gorge, even as far as Gilead, not one town was too strong for us. The LORD our God gave us all of them.
  2. But in accordance with the command of the LORD our God, you did not encroach on any of the land of the Ammonites, neither the land along the course of the Jabbok nor that around the towns in the hills.
 
 
  1. '그 후 우리가 바산을 향해 올라가자 바산 왕 옥이 우리와 싸우려고 군대를 이끌고 에드레이로 나왔습니다.
  2. 그때 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. '그를 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 그와 그의 모든 군대와 땅을 이미 너에게 넘겨주었다. 너는 그에게 헤스본에서 통치하던 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼에게 한 것처럼 하여라.'
  3. 우리 하나님 여호와께서 바산 왕 옥과 그의 모든 백성을 우리에게 넘겨 주셨으므로 우리는 한사람도 남기지 않고 그들을 모조리 쳐서 죽였습니다.
  4. 그때 우리는 바산 왕 옥이 통치하던 아르곱 전 지역의 60개 성을 하나도 남기지 않고 정복했는데
  5. 이 성들은 높은 성벽으로 둘러싸여 있고 성문들은 빗장으로 굳게 잠겨 있었습니다. 그 외에도 우리는 성벽이 없는 많은 부락을 점령하였습니다.
  1. Next we turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan with his whole army marched out to meet us in battle at Edrei.
  2. The LORD said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."
  3. So the LORD our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his army. We struck them down, leaving no survivors.
  4. At that time we took all his cities. There was not one of the sixty cities that we did not take from them--the whole region of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan.
  5. All these cities were fortified with high walls and with gates and bars, and there were also a great many unwalled villages.
  1. 우리는 헤스본 왕 시혼에게 한 것처럼 바산 왕국을 완전히 멸망시키고 남자 여자 어른 아이 할 것 없이 그 백성을 모조리 죽였습니다.
  2. 그러나 빼앗은 가축과 전리품만은 우리가 소유하였습니다.

  4. (시돈 사람들은 혜르몬산을 '시룐' 이라 불렀고 아모리 사람들은 '스닐'이라고 불렀다.)
  5. 그리고 우리는 평원의 모든 성들과 길르앗의 모든 땅과 살르가와 에드레이에 이르는 바산 왕 옥의 모든 영토를 다 점령하였습니다.'
  1. We completely destroyed them, as we had done with Sihon king of Heshbon, destroying every city--men, women and children.
  2. But all the livestock and the plunder from their cities we carried off for ourselves.
  3. So at that time we took from these two kings of the Amorites the territory east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge as far as Mount Hermon.
  4. (Hermon is called Sirion by the Sidonians; the Amorites call it Senir.)
  5. We took all the towns on the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, towns of Og's kingdom in Bashan.

  1. (Only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaites. His bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide. It is still in Rabbah of the Ammonites.)
  2. Of the land that we took over at that time, I gave the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory north of Aroer by the Arnon Gorge, including half the hill country of Gilead, together with its towns.
  3. The rest of Gilead and also all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh. (The whole region of Argob in Bashan used to be known as a land of the Rephaites.
  4. Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites; it was named after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair. )
  5. And I gave Gilead to Makir.
  1. 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파에게는 길르앗에서부터 아르논강에 이르는 땅을 주었습니다. 그 강의 중앙이 그들의 남쪽 경계가 되었고 북쪽 경계는 암몬 사람의 일부 경계가 되는 얍복강이었으며

  1. But to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory extending from Gilead down to the Arnon Gorge (the middle of the gorge being the border) and out to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites.
  2. Its western border was the Jordan in the Arabah, from Kinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea ), below the slopes of Pisgah.
  3. I commanded you at that time: "The LORD your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able-bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of your brother Israelites.
  4. However, your wives, your children and your livestock (I know you have much livestock) may stay in the towns I have given you,
  5. until the LORD gives rest to your brothers as he has to you, and they too have taken over the land that the LORD your God is giving them, across the Jordan. After that, each of you may go back to the possession I have given you."
  1. 그때 내가 여호수아에게 말하였습니다. '너는 너희 하나님 여호와께서 시혼 왕과 옥 왕에게 행하신 일을 다 목격하였다. 여호와께서는 네가 침입해 들어가는 모든 나라에도 그렇게 하실 것이다.
  2. 너희는 그들을 두려워하지 말아라. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희를 위해 싸우실 것이다.'
  1. At that time I commanded Joshua: "You have seen with your own eyes all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. The LORD will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going.
  2. Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you."
