여호수아 6:1-7:26

 가나안 정복 전쟁에 나선 이스라엘이 하나님의 지시대로 여리고 성을 7일 동안 돈 뒤 외치자 성이 무너졌다. 백성들은 라합과 그의 가족을 제외한 모든 사람을 죽이고 은금은 하나님께 바쳤다. 그러나 아간의 범죄로 말미암아 아이 성 공략에 실패하고 말았고, 이에 여호수아는 하나님의 명령에 따라 제비뽑기를 실시하여 아간으로부터 죄를 자백받고 그와 그의 가족을 처형했다.
  
  여리고 점령(6:1-6:27)    
 
  1. 여리고성에 사는 사람들은 이스라엘 백성을 두려워하여 성문을 굳게 닫고 일체 출입을 금하였다.
  2. 그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. '내가 여리고성과 그 왕과 모든 군인들을 이미 네 손에 넘겨 주었다.
  3. 너와 너의 모든 군대는 여리고성 주위를 6일 동안 매일 한 바퀴씩 돌아라.
  4. 제사장 7명이 각자 수양의 뿔로 만든 나팔을 들고 법궤 앞에서 돌게 하고 7일째 되는 날에는 제사장들이 나팔을 부는 가운데 너희가 그 성을 일곱 바퀴 돌아야 한다.
  5. 제사장들이 나팔을 한 번 길게 불면 모든 백성이 큰 소리로 외치게 하라. 그러면 그 성벽이 무너질 것이다. 그때 너희 모든 군대는 곧장 성 안으로 쳐들어가야 한다.'
  1. Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.
  2. Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.
  3. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.
  4. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.
  5. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in."
  1. 그래서 여호수아는 제사장들을 불러 놓고 그들에게 말하였다. '여러분은 여호와의 법궤를 메십시오. 그리고 여러분 가운데 7명은 수양의 뿔로 만든 나팔을 들고 법궤 앞으로 나서십시오.'
  2. 그리고서 그는 백성들에게 '지금부터 여러분은 이 성을 도십시오. 무장한 선두 부대가 여호와의 법궤 앞에 서야 합니다.' 하고 명령을 내렸다.
  3. 그래서 여호수아가 명령한 대로 7명의 제사장들이 각자 수양의 뿔로 만든 나팔을 잡고 여호와 앞에서 행진하며 나팔을 불고 여호와의 법궤는 그 뒤를 따랐다.
  4. 그리고 무장한 선두 부대는 나팔을 부는 제사장들 앞에 서고 후방 부대는 법궤 뒤에서 행군했으며 나팔소리는 계속 울려 퍼졌다.
  5. 그러나 여호수아는 백성들에게 특별한 지시가 있을 때까지 외치지 말며 아무 말도 입 밖에 내지 말고 기다렸다가 지시가 있을 때 외치라고 명령하였다.
  1. So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant of the LORD and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it."
  2. And he ordered the people, "Advance! March around the city, with the armed guard going ahead of the ark of the LORD."
  3. When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the LORD went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the LORD's covenant followed them.
  4. The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding.
  5. But Joshua had commanded the people, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!"
  1. 그래서 이스라엘 백성은 그 날 여호수아의 지시대로 법궤를 앞세우고 성을 한 바퀴 돈 다음 진영으로 돌아와 거기서 잤다.
  2. 그 다음 날에도 그들은 아침 일찍 일어나 전날과 같이 성을 한 바퀴 돈 다음 진영으로 돌아왔다. 그들은 이렇게 하는 일을 6일 동안 반복하였다.

  1. So he had the ark of the LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then the people returned to camp and spent the night there.
  2. Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.
  3. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding.
  4. So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.
  5. On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times.
  1. 일곱 바퀴째에 여호수아는 백성들에게 제사장들이 나팔을 부는 순간 외치라는 명령과 함께 다음과 같은 세부 사항을 지시하였다. '여호와께서 이 성을 여러분에게 주셨습니다.
  2. 이 성과 성 안의 모든 물건은 여호와께 바치는 제물로 여겨 완전히 부숴 버리고 사람은 모조리 죽이십시오. 그러나 기생 라합과 그 집 안에 있는 사람들만은 살려 주어야 합니다. 그녀는 우리 정찰병들을 숨겨 주었습니다.

  5. 그래서 백성들은 제사장들이 부는 나팔 소리를 듣고 일제히 큰 소리로 외쳤다. 그때 갑자기 성벽이 와르르 무너져 내렸다. 그러자 백성들은 일제히 성으로 진격하여 그 성을 점령하고
  1. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!
  2. The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.
  3. But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.
  4. All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the LORD and must go into his treasury."
  5. When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city.
  1. 남자 여자 어른 아이 가리지 않고 성 안에 있는 사람들을 모두 칼로 쳐서 죽이고 또 소나 양이나 나귀와 같은 가축도 모조리 죽여 버렸다.
  2. 그때 여호수아는 그 땅을 탐지하러 갔던 두 정찰병에게 '그 기생의 집으로 들어가 너희가 약속한 대로 그녀와 그녀의 가족을 모두 구출하라.' 하고 지시하였다.
  3. 그래서 그들은 들어가서 라합과 그 부모와 형제와 또 그녀와 함께 있는 친척을 모두 구출해 내고 그들을 이스라엘 진영 부근으로 피신시켰다.
  4. 그리고 백성들은 성에 불을 질러 그 성과 성 안에 있는 모든 것을 태우고 금, 은, 동, 철로 된 제품은 여호와의 창고에 들여놓았다.
  5. 그러나 여호수아는 두 정찰병을 숨겨 주었다는 이유로 라합과 그의 가족 및 친척들의 목숨을 구해 주었으며 그들은 오늘날까지도 이스라엘 백성 가운데 살고 있다.
  1. They devoted the city to the LORD and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it--men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.
  2. Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, "Go into the prostitute's house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her."
  3. So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her. They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel.
  4. Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD's house.
  5. But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho--and she lives among the Israelites to this day.
  1. 그리고 여호수아는 이런 엄중한 경고를 내렸다. '이 여리고성을 재건하는 자는 여호와의 저주를 받을 것이다. 누구든지 이 성의 기초를 쌓는 자는 맏아들을 잃을 것이며 누구든지 성문을 세우는 자는 막내 아들을 잃을 것이다.'
  2. 여호와께서 여호수아와 함께 하셨으므로 그의 명성이 온 땅에 두루 퍼졌다.
  1. At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: "Cursed before the LORD is the man who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: "At the cost of his firstborn son will he lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest will he set up its gates."
  2. So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.
 
  아간의 범죄(7:1-7:26)    
 
  1. 이스라엘 백성 가운데 전리품에 관한 여호와의 명령을 어기고 죄를 범한 자가 있었다. 그는 유다 지파에 속한 세라의 증손이며 삽디의 손자이자 갈미의 아들인 아간이었다. 그가 전리품의 일부를 훔쳤으므로 여호와께서 이스라엘 백성에게 몹시 노하셨다.
  2. 여리고성을 점령한 직후에, 여호수아는 여리고에서 몇 명의 정찰병을 보내 벧엘 동쪽, 벤-아웬 근처에 있는 아이성을 탐지해 오라고 지시하였다. 그래서 그들은 그 땅을 탐지하고
  3. 돌아와서 여호수아에게 이렇게 보고하였다. '아이성을 치기 위해 모든 군대가 다 올라갈 필요는 없습니다. 그 곳은 2-3 천명 정도의 병력이면 충분히 칠 수 있는 조그마한 성이었습니다.'
  4. 그래서 3,000명 정도의 병력만 보냈으나 그들은 보기 좋게 패하여 아이군 앞에서 도망하였다.
  5. 아이군이 접전 끝에 36명 정도의 이스라엘 군을 죽이고 도주하는 나머지 병력을 성문에서부터 스바림까지 추격하여 비탈길에서 쳤으므로 이스라엘 군은 전의를 상실한 채 기진 맥진하여 떨고 있었다.
  1. But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things ; Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the LORD's anger burned against Israel.
  2. Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them, "Go up and spy out the region." So the men went up and spied out Ai.
  3. When they returned to Joshua, they said, "Not all the people will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary all the people, for only a few men are there."
  4. So about three thousand men went up; but they were routed by the men of Ai,
  5. who killed about thirty-six of them. They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted and became like water.
  1. 그러자 여호수아는 이스라엘 백성의 지도자들과 함께 옷을 찢고 통곡하며 머리에 티끌을 뒤집어쓰고 해가 저물도록 여호와의 법궤 앞에 엎드려 있다가
  2. 여호와에게 이렇게 부르짖었다. '주 여호와여, 정말 슬픈 일입니다. 어째서 이 백성을 인도하여 요단강을 건너게 하시고 아모리 사람의 손에 넘겨 멸망시키려고 하십니까? 차라리 우리가 요단강 건너편에서 살았더라면 좋을 뻔하였습니다.
  3. 여호와여, 이스라엘 군이 적군에게 패하며 쫓겨왔는데 내가 무슨 말을 할 수 있겠습니까?
  4. 가나안 사람들과 그 주변 민족들이 이 소식을 듣게 되면 그들이 우리를 포위하여 전멸시킬 것입니다. 주의 크신 이름을 위해 주께서는 어떻게 하시겠습니까?'
  5. 그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. '일어나라! 어째서 이렇게 엎드려 있느냐?
  1. Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the LORD, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.
  2. And Joshua said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!
  3. O Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies?
  4. The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?"
  5. The LORD said to Joshua, "Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?
  1. 이스라엘이 죄를 짓고 말았다! 그들이 내 명령에 불순종하여 만지지 말라고 지시한 물건을 훔치고서도 그 사실을 속이고 그것을 자기 소유물 가운데 숨겨 두었다.
  2. 이것이 바로 이스라엘 군이 적군에게 패하여 등을 돌리고 달아나게 된 이유이다. 그 결과 너희도 역시 그 저주받은 물건과 같이 되었다. 너희가 가져서는 안 될 그 물건을 너희에게서 제거하지 않는 한 내가 다시는 너희와 함께 하지 않을 것이다.
  3. 너는 일어나 백성들을 성결하게 하고 내일을 위해 준비하라고 지시하여라. 그리고 이스라엘의 하나님 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 그들에게 전하여라. '이스라엘아, 너희 가운데 가져서는 안 될 물건을 도둑질한 사람이 있다. 너희가 그 물건을 너희에게서 제거하기 전에는 너희가 적군을 당해 낼 수 없을 것이다.
  4. 내일 아침 너희는 지파별로 내 앞에 가까이 나오너라. 범인이 속해 있는 지파를 나 여호와가 지적하겠다. 나에게 지적 당한 그 지파는 집안별로 가까이 나오너라. 나 여호와가 그 범죄한 집안을 지적하겠다. 나에게 지적 당한 집안은 가족별로 나오너라. 그리고 지적 당한 가족은 한 사람씩 나와야 한다.
  5. 너희는 가져서는 안 될 물건을 도둑질한 자로 뽑힌 그 사람과 가족을 화형시키고 그가 가진 모든 물건을 불태워 버려라. 그는 나 여호와의 계약을 어기고 이스라엘 가운데 재난을 불러일으킨 장본인이다.'
  1. Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.
  2. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.
  3. "Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.
  4. " 'In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe that the LORD takes shall come forward clan by clan; the clan that the LORD takes shall come forward family by family; and the family that the LORD takes shall come forward man by man.
  5. He who is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the LORD and has done a disgraceful thing in Israel!' "
  1. 다음 날 아침 일찍 여호수아는 이스라엘 백성을 각 지파별로 여호와 앞에 가까이 나오게 했는데 그 중에서 유다 지파가 뽑혔다.
  2. 그리고 유다 지파를 각 집안별로 나오게 했을 때 세라 집안이 뽑혔다. 그 다음에 여호수아가 세라 집안을 각 가족별로 나오게 하자 거기서 삽디의 가족이 뽑혔고
  3. 마지막으로 삽디의 가족 중에서 남자들을 한 사람씩 나오게 하자 삽디의 손자이며 갈미의 아들인 아간이 범인으로 뽑혔다.
  4. 그때 여호수아가 아간에게 말하였다. '너는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 사실을 말하고 죄를 고백하여라. 네가 한 일을 하나도 숨기지 말고 낱낱이 나에게 말하라.'
  5. 그러자 아간이 여호수아에게 대답하였다. '내가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 범죄한 것이 사실입니다.
  1. Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was taken.
  2. The clans of Judah came forward, and he took the Zerahites. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was taken.
  3. Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
  4. Then Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give him the praise. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me."
  5. Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done:
  1. 내가 바빌로니아 제품의 예쁜 외투 한 벌과 약 2.3 킬로그램의 은과 570그램의 금덩어리 하나를 보고 탐이 나서 가져왔습니다. 그 물건들은 지금 내 천막 안의 땅 속에 묻혀 있으며 은은 제일 밑에 있습니다.'
  2. 그래서 여호수아는 몇 사람을 시켜 다 물건들을 찾아오라고 지시하였다. 그들이 천막으로 달려가 보니 그 물건들은 아간이 말한 곳에 그대로 숨겨져 있었고 은은 제일 밑에 있었다.
  3. 그들은 그 물건을 여호수아와 백성들이 있는 곳으로 가져와 여호와 앞에 쏟아 놓았다.
  4. 그러자 여호수아와 모든 이스라엘 백성은 아간과 그의 아들딸들을 붙잡고 그 은과 외투와 금덩어리와 그의 모든 가축과 천막, 그리고 그가 소유한 모든 물건을 끌고 아골 골짜기로 올라갔다.
  5. 여호수아가 아간에게 '네가 어째서 우리를 그처럼 괴롭혔느냐? 이제 여호와께서 너를 괴롭힐 것이다.' 하자 이스라엘 백성이 아간과 그 가족과 그 모든 소유물을 돌로 치고 불살라 버렸다.
  1. When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath."
  2. So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath.
  3. They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the LORD.
  4. Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold wedge, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.
  5. Joshua said, "Why have you brought this trouble on us? The LORD will bring trouble on you today." Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.
  1. 그런 다음 이스라엘 백성은 그 위에 큰 돌무더기를 쌓고 그 곳 이름을 '괴로움의 골짜기'라 불렀는데 오늘날까지도 그 이름이 그대로 남아 있다. 여호와께서는 그제서야 노여움을 거두셨다.
  1. Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the LORD turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since.
