사무엘상 24:1-25:44

 다윗은 자신을 잡으려고 엔게디에 온 사울을 죽일 수 있는 기회가 있었으나, 그를 살려 주고 자신의 억울함을 호소했다. 이에 사울은 자신의 잘못을 뉘우치고 돌아갔다. 다윗은 나발에게 원조를 요청했으나 묵살당했다. 다윗이 복수를 결심하자, 나발의 아내 아비가일이 예물을 보내 그를 설득했다. 나발은 하나님의 치심을 받아 죽고, 다윗은 아비가일을 그의 아내로 삼았다.
  
  사울을 살려 준 다윗(24:1-24:22)    
 
  1. 사울이 블레셋군과 싸우고 돌아왔을 때 그는 다윗이 엔-게디 광야로 갔다는 말을 들었다.
  2. 그래서 그는 정예병 3,000명을 이끌고 다윗과 그의 부하들을 찾으러 '들염소 바위'가 있는 곳으로 갔다.
  3. 그 곳 길가에는 양우리가 있고 그 곁에는 굴이 있었는데 사울은 용변을 보려고 그 곳 굴에 들어갔다. 그러나 공교롭게도 그 동굴의 깊숙한 곳에는 다윗과 그의 부하들이 숨어 있지 않았겠는가!
  4. 이때 다윗의 부하들은 '이제 당신의 때가 왔습니다. 여호와께서는 원수들을 당신에게 넘겨 줄 테니 좋을 대로 하라고 하시지 않았습니까? 지금이 바로 그때입니다.' 하고 그에게 속삭였다. 그래서 다윗은 살금살금 사울에게 다가가서 그의 옷자락을 살며시 잘랐다.
  5. 그러나 그 후에 그는 양심의 가책을 받아
  1. After Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, "David is in the Desert of En Gedi."
  2. So Saul took three thousand chosen men from all Israel and set out to look for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats.
  3. He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave.
  4. The men said, "This is the day the LORD spoke of when he said to you, 'I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.' " Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul's robe.
  5. Afterward, David was conscience-stricken for having cut off a corner of his robe.
  1. 자기 부하들에게 말하였다. '여호와께서 기름 부어 세우신 왕을 내가 해치지 말았어야 하는 건데. 이것은 여호와께서 금하신 것이다.'
  2. 그리고서 다윗은 자기 부하들에게 사울을 해하지 말라고 설득하였다. 그래서 부하들은 사울을 차마 죽일 수가 없었다. 사울이 일어나 그 굴을 떠나갈 때 다윗이 나와서 '내 주 왕이여!' 하고 뒤에서 소리를 질렀다. 사울이 뒤돌아보자 다윗은 그 앞에 엎드려 절하며

  4. 이렇게 말하였다. '어째서 왕은 내가 왕을 해치려고 한다는 말을 들으십니까? 왕은 바로 오늘 그것이 사실이 아님을 보셨습니다. 여호와께서 왕을 굴에서 내 손에 넘겨 주셨을 때 내 부하들이 나에게 왕을 죽이라고 하였으나 내가 왕을 아껴 나는 그를 죽이지 않겠다. 그는 여호와께서 택하신 왕이시다 하며 왕을 죽이지 않았습니다.
  5. (9절과 같음)
  1. He said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, or lift my hand against him; for he is the anointed of the LORD."
  2. With these words David rebuked his men and did not allow them to attack Saul. And Saul left the cave and went his way.
  3. Then David went out of the cave and called out to Saul, "My lord the king!" When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.
  4. He said to Saul, "Why do you listen when men say, 'David is bent on harming you'?
  5. This day you have seen with your own eyes how the LORD delivered you into my hands in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, 'I will not lift my hand against my master, because he is the LORD's anointed.'
  1. 내 손에 있는 것을 보십시오. 이것은 왕의 옷자락입니다! 내가 이것만 자르고 왕은 죽이지 않았습니다! 비록 왕은 나를 죽이려고 찾아 헤맸으나 나는 왕을 해하려 하지 않았습니다. 내가 왕에게 범죄한 일이 없음을 왕은 이것으로도 아실 것입니다.

  3. 옛날 속담에 '악은 악인에게서 나온다'는 말이 있습니다. 그래서 나는 왕을 해치지 않을 것입니다.
  4. 이스라엘 왕이 잡으려고 하는 자가 누구입니까? 어째서 왕은 죽은 개나 벼룩 같은 자를 쫓고 있습니까?
  5. 여호와께서 재판관이 되어 나와 왕 사이에 잘못된 자를 가려내시고 내 사정을 살펴 나를 지키시고 왕의 손에서 나를 구해 주시기를 원합니다.'
  1. See, my father, look at this piece of your robe in my hand! I cut off the corner of your robe but did not kill you. Now understand and recognize that I am not guilty of wrongdoing or rebellion. I have not wronged you, but you are hunting me down to take my life.
  2. May the LORD judge between you and me. And may the LORD avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.
  3. As the old saying goes, 'From evildoers come evil deeds,' so my hand will not touch you.
  4. "Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog? A flea?
  5. May the LORD be our judge and decide between us. May he consider my cause and uphold it; may he vindicate me by delivering me from your hand."
  1. 그러자 사울은 '내 아들 다윗아, 이것이 정말 네 목소리냐?' 하고 큰 소리로 울며
  2. 말하였다. '네가 악을 선으로 갚는 것을 보니 나보다 낫구나.
  3. 여호와께서 나를 네 손에 넘겨 주셨으나 네가 나를 죽이지 않았으니 과연 오늘 너는 나에게 자비를 베풀었다.
  4. 이 세상에서 자기 원수를 손아귀에 넣고도 그냥 놓아 줄 자가 어디 있겠느냐! 네가 오늘 나에게 보인 친절에 대하여 여호와께서 선하게 갚아 주시기를 원한다.
  5. 나는 네가 반드시 왕이 되고 이스라엘은 네가 다스릴 나라임을 알고 있다.
  1. When David finished saying this, Saul asked, "Is that your voice, David my son?" And he wept aloud.
  2. "You are more righteous than I," he said. "You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly.
  3. You have just now told me of the good you did to me; the LORD delivered me into your hands, but you did not kill me.
  4. When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the LORD reward you well for the way you treated me today.
  5. I know that you will surely be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hands.
  1. 네가 왕이 되면 내 가족을 죽이지 않고 내 후손들의 혈통을 끊어 버리지 않겠다고 여호와의 이름으로 나에게 맹세하여라.'
  2. 그래서 다윗은 그렇게 하겠다고 맹세하였다. 그 후에 사울은 집으로 돌아가고 다윗과 그의 부하들은 그들의 은신처로 돌아갔다.
  1. Now swear to me by the LORD that you will not cut off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father's family."
  2. So David gave his oath to Saul. Then Saul returned home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
 
  다윗과 아비가일(25:1-25:44)    
 
  1. 사무엘이 죽자 모든 이스라엘 사람들은 모여 그의 죽음을 슬퍼하고 그를 라마에 있는 그의 집에 장사하였다. 그 후에 다윗은 바란 광야로 내려갔다.

  1. Now Samuel died, and all Israel assembled and mourned for him; and they buried him at his home in Ramah. Then David moved down into the Desert of Maon.
  2. A certain man in Maon, who had property there at Carmel, was very wealthy. He had a thousand goats and three thousand sheep, which he was shearing in Carmel.
  3. His name was Nabal and his wife's name was Abigail. She was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband, a Calebite, was surly and mean in his dealings.
  4. While David was in the desert, he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep.
  5. So he sent ten young men and said to them, "Go up to Nabal at Carmel and greet him in my name.
  1. 그에게 이렇게 전하라고 일렀다. '하나님이 당신과 당신의 가족을 축복하시고 당신이 소유한 모든 것을 번성하게 하시기를 원합니다.

  1. Say to him: 'Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!
  2. " 'Now I hear that it is sheep-shearing time. When your shepherds were with us, we did not mistreat them, and the whole time they were at Carmel nothing of theirs was missing.
  3. Ask your own servants and they will tell you. Therefore be favorable toward my young men, since we come at a festive time. Please give your servants and your son David whatever you can find for them.' "
  4. When David's men arrived, they gave Nabal this message in David's name. Then they waited.
  5. Nabal answered David's servants, "Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are breaking away from their masters these days.
  1. 내가 내 빵과 물과 내 양털 깎는 자를 위해 잡은 고기를 가져다가 어디서 왔는지 알지도 못하는 사람들에게 주어야 한단 말이오? 나는 절대로 그렇게 할 수가 없소.'
  2. 그래서 다윗의 부하들은 돌아가서 나발이 말한 것을 그대로 전하였다.
  3. 그러자 다윗은 '모두 칼을 차라' 하고 자기 부하들에게 명령하고 자기도 칼을 찼다. 그들 중에 400명은 칼을 차고 다윗과 함께 떠나고 200명은 남아서 그들의 소유물을 지키고 있었다.
  4. 한편 나발의 종들 중에 한 사람이 아비가일에게 가서 말하였다. '다윗이 우리 주인에게 문안하러 광야에서 그의 부하들을 보냈으나 주인이 그들을 모욕했습니다.
  5. 하지만 다윗의 부하들은 우리에게 정말 잘해 주었습니다. 우리는 그들에게 아무런 피해도 입지 않았으며 사실 밤낮으로 그들은 우리에게 담이 되었을 뿐만 아니라 그들이 우리와 함께 있는 동안 양은 물론 아무것도 잃어버린 것이 없습니다.
  1. Why should I take my bread and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?"
  2. David's men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word.
  3. David said to his men, "Put on your swords!" So they put on their swords, and David put on his. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.
  4. One of the servants told Nabal's wife Abigail: "David sent messengers from the desert to give our master his greetings, but he hurled insults at them.
  5. Yet these men were very good to us. They did not mistreat us, and the whole time we were out in the fields near them nothing was missing.
  1. (15절과 같음)
  2. 이제 당신은 이 일을 어떻게 처리해야 할지 빨리 생각해야 합니다. 다윗은 주인과 주인의 전 가족을 해하기로 이미 작정하였습니다. 주인은 막돼먹은 사람이라 말을 붙여 볼 수도 없습니다.'

  5. 아비가일은 나귀를 타고 오솔길을 따라 내려가다가 다윗과 그의 부하들이 자기 쪽으로 오고 있는 것을 보았다.
  1. Night and day they were a wall around us all the time we were herding our sheep near them.
  2. Now think it over and see what you can do, because disaster is hanging over our master and his whole household. He is such a wicked man that no one can talk to him."
  3. Abigail lost no time. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys.
  4. Then she told her servants, "Go on ahead; I'll follow you." But she did not tell her husband Nabal.
  5. As she came riding her donkey into a mountain ravine, there were David and his men descending toward her, and she met them.
  1. 그때 다윗은 혼자 이렇게 중얼거렸다. '이 자를 도와 준 것이 우리에게 무슨 유익이 있는가? 우리는 광야에서 그의 양떼를 지켜 하나도 손실이 없도록 하였는데 그가 나의 선을 악으로 갚는구나!
  2. 만일 내가 내일 아침까지 그들을 모조리 죽이지 않고 한 사람이라도 남겨 둔다면 하나님이 나를 저주하시기 원한다.'
  3. 아비가일은 다윗을 보고 급히 나귀에서 내려 그의 발 앞에 엎드려 절하고
  4. 이렇게 말하였다. '제발 내 말 좀 들어 주십시오. 모든 것은 내 잘못입니다.

  1. David had just said, "It's been useless--all my watching over this fellow's property in the desert so that nothing of his was missing. He has paid me back evil for good.
  2. May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning I leave alive one male of all who belong to him!"
  3. When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed down before David with her face to the ground.
  4. She fell at his feet and said: "My lord, let the blame be on me alone. Please let your servant speak to you; hear what your servant has to say.
  5. May my lord pay no attention to that wicked man Nabal. He is just like his name--his name is Fool, and folly goes with him. But as for me, your servant, I did not see the men my master sent.
  1. 당신이 직접 당신의 손으로 사람을 죽여 보복하는 것을 여호와께서는 금하셨습니다. 그러므로 내가 당신과 살아 계신 여호와의 이름으로 분명히 말하지만 당신의 모든 원수들과 당신을 해하려고 하는 자들은 나발처럼 벌을 받을 것입니다.
  2. 여기 당신에게 가져온 선물이 있습니다. 이것을 당신의 종들에게 주십시오.

  5. 그러므로 여호와께서 당신에게 약속하신 모든 선한 일을 행하시고 당신이 이스라엘의 왕이 될 때 당신은 이유 없이 사람을 죽였다든지 복수했다는 일로 후회하거나 양심에 가책을 받는 일이 없을 것입니다. 그리고 여호와께서 당신을 위해 이런 큰 일을 행하실 때 제발 저를 기억해 주십시오.'
  1. "Now since the LORD has kept you, my master, from bloodshed and from avenging yourself with your own hands, as surely as the LORD lives and as you live, may your enemies and all who intend to harm my master be like Nabal.
  2. And let this gift, which your servant has brought to my master, be given to the men who follow you.
  3. Please forgive your servant's offense, for the LORD will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my master, because he fights the LORD's battles. Let no wrongdoing be found in you as long as you live.
  4. Even though someone is pursuing you to take your life, the life of my master will be bound securely in the bundle of the living by the LORD your God. But the lives of your enemies he will hurl away as from the pocket of a sling.
  5. When the LORD has done for my master every good thing he promised concerning him and has appointed him leader over Israel,

  2. 그러자 다윗이 아비가일에게 말하였다. '오늘 당신을 보내 나를 영접하도록 한 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찬양합니다!
  3. 그리고 내가 사람을 직접 죽여 원수를 갚지 않도록 한 당신의 지혜를 고맙게 여기며 또 당신에게 하나님의 축복이 내리기를 바랍니다.
  4. 당신을 해치지 못하도록 한 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 이름으로 분명히 말하지만 만일 당신이 나를 맞으러 나오지 않았더라면 나발의 집안 사람 중 내일 아침까지 살아 남을 자는 한 사람도 없을 것입니다.'
  5. 그런 다음 다윗은 아비가일의 선물을 받고 그녀에게 '염려하지 말고 집으로 돌아가시오. 내가 당신의 요구를 들어주겠습니다.' 하였다.
  1. my master will not have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or of having avenged himself. And when the LORD has brought my master success, remember your servant."
  2. David said to Abigail, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me.
  3. May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands.
  4. Otherwise, as surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by daybreak."
  5. Then David accepted from her hand what she had brought him and said, "Go home in peace. I have heard your words and granted your request."
  1. 아비가일이 집으로 돌아왔을 때 나발은 큰 잔치를 벌여놓고 있었다. 그는 술을 잔뜩 먹고 취해 있었으므로 아비가일은 다음날 아침까지 다윗을 만난 일에 대해서 그에게 아무것도 말하지 않았다.
  2. 나발이 아침에 술에서 깨어났을 때 그의 아내가 일어난 일을 그에게 말하자 그는 갑자기 심장 마비를 일으켜 몸이 돌처럼 굳어졌다. 그는 약 10일 동안 전신이 마비된 채로 누워 있다가 여호와께서 치시므로 결국 죽고 말았다.
  3. (37절과 같음)
  4. 다윗은 나발이 죽었다는 말을 듣고 이렇게 말하였다. '여호와를 찬양하세! 하나님은 나발에게 행한 대로 갚아 주시고 내가 악한 일을 하지 않도록 하셨구나. 결국 나발은 자기 죄에 대한 댓가를 받고 말았다.' 그런 다음 다윗은 아비가일을 아내로 삼고자 그녀에게 사람을 보내 그 뜻을 전하도록 하였다.
  5. 그 사람들이 갈멜에 도착하여 아비가일에게 찾아온 목적을 말하자
  1. When Abigail went to Nabal, he was in the house holding a banquet like that of a king. He was in high spirits and very drunk. So she told him nothing until daybreak.
  2. Then in the morning, when Nabal was sober, his wife told him all these things, and his heart failed him and he became like a stone.
  3. About ten days later, the LORD struck Nabal and he died.
  4. When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Praise be to the LORD, who has upheld my cause against Nabal for treating me with contempt. He has kept his servant from doing wrong and has brought Nabal's wrongdoing down on his own head." Then David sent word to Abigail, asking her to become his wife.
  5. His servants went to Carmel and said to Abigail, "David has sent us to you to take you to become his wife."
  1. 그녀는 다윗의 청혼을 기꺼이 받아들이고
  2. 급히 일어나서 나귀를 타고 하녀 다섯과 함께 그 사람들을 따라 다윗에게 가서 그의 아내가 되었다.

  1. She bowed down with her face to the ground and said, "Here is your maidservant, ready to serve you and wash the feet of my master's servants."
  2. Abigail quickly got on a donkey and, attended by her five maids, went with David's messengers and became his wife.
  3. David had also married Ahinoam of Jezreel, and they both were his wives.
  4. But Saul had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Paltiel son of Laish, who was from Gallim.
