욥기 20:1-22:30

 소발은 잔인하기 짝이 없는 비유까지 서슴지 않고 하면서 욥에게 회개를 강조하였다. 이에 대하여 욥은 가만히 있을 수 없어서 악인의 형통함에 관하여 역설하였다. 엘리바스는 욥의 죄악이 크다고 책망하였다. 그러나 훗날에 그는 위로자의 자세로 돌아가 회개하여 불의를 버리면 하나님께서 다시 욥의 기도를 들어주실 것이라고 권면하였다.
  
  소발의 두번째 충고(20:1-20:29)    
 
  1. 그때 나아마 사람 소발이 말하였다.
  2. '네 말을 들으니 마음이 답답해서 너에게 대답하지 않을 수 없구나.
  3. 네가 부끄러운 말로 나를 책망하였으니 나도 너에게 할 말이 있다.
  4. 너도 알겠지만 사람이 세상에 처음 나타난 때부터 악인의 승리는 오래 가지 못했고 경건치 못한 자의 즐거움도 다 순간적이었다.
  5. (4절과 같음)
  1. Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:
  2. "My troubled thoughts prompt me to answer because I am greatly disturbed.
  3. I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, and my understanding inspires me to reply.
  4. "Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since man was placed on the earth,
  5. that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.
  1. 비록 경건치 못한 자의 교만이 하늘까지 치솟고 그 머리가 구름에까지 닿을지라도
  2. 그는 자기 똥처럼 영원히 사라질 것이니 그를 아는 자마다 그가 어디에 있는지 이상하게 여길 것이다.
  3. 그는 꿈같이 지나가 버리고 밤의 환상처럼 사라져 다시 보이지 않을 것이며
  4. 그의 친구나 가족도 그를 다시는 보지 못할 것이다.
  5. 그의 자녀들은 그가 가난한 자들에게서 빼앗은 재물을 되돌려 주어야 할 것이며
  1. Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,
  2. he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
  3. Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night.
  4. The eye that saw him will not see him again; his place will look on him no more.
  5. His children must make amends to the poor; his own hands must give back his wealth.
  1. 그는 몸이 건장할지라도 곧 흙으로 돌아갈 것이다.
  2. 그가 악의 맛이 달아서 혀 밑에 감추어 뱉어 버리지 못하고 입에 물고 있어도
  3. (12절과 같음)
  4. 그것이 창자에서 독소로 변해 독사의 독과 같이 될 것이다.
  5. 그가 남의 재물을 집어삼켜도 그것을 다시 토해낼 수밖에 없는 것은 하나님이 그것을 뱃속에서 다시 나오게 하실 것이기 때문이다.
  1. The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie with him in the dust.
  2. "Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue,
  3. though he cannot bear to let it go and keeps it in his mouth,
  4. yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him.
  5. He will spit out the riches he swallowed; God will make his stomach vomit them up.
  1. 악인이 삼키는 것은 독사의 독과 갈아서 결국 그를 죽이고 만다.
  2. 그는 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 강을 보지 못할 것이며
  3. 수고하여 얻은 것도 먹어 보지 못하고 내어주어야 할 것이며 장사하여 모은 돈도 쓰지 못할 것이다.
  4. 이것은 그가 가난한 자를 돌보지 않고 학대하며 남의 집을 뺏었기 때문이다.
  5. 그는 만족할 줄 모르고 언제나 욕심을 내지만 자기가 갖고 싶은 것을 하나도 간직하지 못할 것이며
  1. He will suck the poison of serpents; the fangs of an adder will kill him.
  2. He will not enjoy the streams, the rivers flowing with honey and cream.
  3. What he toiled for he must give back uneaten; he will not enjoy the profit from his trading.
  4. For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; he has seized houses he did not build.
  5. "Surely he will have no respite from his craving; he cannot save himself by his treasure.
  1. 남기는 것 없이 닥치는 대로 먹어치우므로 그가 누리던 번영도 끝장이 나고 말 것이다.
  2. 악인은 풍족할 때에도 고통을 당할 것이니 불행이 그에게 밀어닥칠 것이다.
  3. 그가 자기 배를 채우려 할 때 하나님은 분노의 불을 토해 그에게 비처럼 쏟을 것이다.
  4. 그가 철로 만든 무기를 피하면 놋화살이 그를 꿰뚫을 것이며
  5. 그가 몸에서 그 화살을 빼내면 번쩍이는 촉이 그의 쓸개에서 나와 그의 마음이 두려움에 사로잡힐 것이다.
  1. Nothing is left for him to devour; his prosperity will not endure.
  2. In the midst of his plenty, distress will overtake him; the full force of misery will come upon him.
  3. When he has filled his belly, God will vent his burning anger against him and rain down his blows upon him.
  4. Though he flees from an iron weapon, a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.
  5. He pulls it out of his back, the gleaming point out of his liver. Terrors will come over him;
  1. 아주 캄캄한 어두움이 그의 재물을 삼킬 듯이 기다리며 사람이 피우지 않은 불이 그를 사르고 그 집 안에 남은 것을 삼킬 것이다.
  2. 하늘이 그의 죄를 드러낼 것이요 땅이 그를 대적하여 증언할 것이며
  3. 그의 재산은 하나님의 분노의 홍수에 떠내려 가고 말 것이다.
  4. 이것이 바로 하나님이 정해 놓으신 악인들의 운명이다.'
  1. total darkness lies in wait for his treasures. A fire unfanned will consume him and devour what is left in his tent.
  2. The heavens will expose his guilt; the earth will rise up against him.
  3. A flood will carry off his house, rushing waters on the day of God's wrath.
  4. Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God."
 
  욥의 변증(21:1-21:34)    
 
  1. 그래서 욥이 이렇게 대답하였다.
  2. '너희는 내 말을 잘 들어라. 이것이 너희가 나를 위로하는 길이다.
  3. 나에게 먼저 말할 기회를 달라. 너희가 조롱하더라도 내 말이 끝난 다음에 하라.
  4. 내가 사람에게 원망하는 것이 아니라 하나님께 원망하고 있으니 어찌 내 마음이 초조하지 않겠느냐?
  5. 너희는 나를 보면 놀라겠지만 말은 하지 말아라.
  1. Then Job replied:
  2. "Listen carefully to my words; let this be the consolation you give me.
  3. Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
  4. "Is my complaint directed to man? Why should I not be impatient?
  5. Look at me and be astonished; clap your hand over your mouth.
  1. 내가 당한 일을 생각만 해도 소름이 끼친다.
  2. 어째서 악인은 죽지도 않고 오래 살며 그 세력이 점점 강해지는가?
  3. 그들은 자녀들이 성숙하게 자라가는 것을 보고 그 손자들까지 무럭무럭 자라는 것을 보며 살고 있다.
  4. 그들의 집은 평안하며 두려워해야 할 일이 없다. 하나님도 그들을 벌하시지 않으며
  5. 그들의 소는 새끼도 잘 낳는다.
  1. When I think about this, I am terrified; trembling seizes my body.
  2. Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
  3. They see their children established around them, their offspring before their eyes.
  4. Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not upon them.
  5. Their bulls never fail to breed; their cows calve and do not miscarry.
  1. 그들의 자녀들은 양떼처럼 뛰어 놀고
  2. 마냥 즐거워 세월을 노래와 춤으로 보내며 아무것도 부족한 것 없이 편안하게 수명대로 살다가 죽을 때도 고통 없이 죽는다.
  3. (12절과 같음)
  4. 그런데도 그들은 하나님께 '우리를 내버려 두시오. 우리는 당신의 도리를 알고 싶지 않습니다.
  5. 전능하신 자가 누군데 우리가 그를 섬기며 우리가 그에게 기도한들 무슨 유익이 있겠는가?' 하는구나.
  1. They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about.
  2. They sing to the music of tambourine and harp; they make merry to the sound of the flute.
  3. They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.
  4. Yet they say to God, 'Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.
  5. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'
  1. 그러나 그들의 번영이 그들의 손에 달려 있는 것이 아니므로 악인의 계획은 나와 거리가 멀다.
  2. 악인의 등불이 꺼진 적이 몇 번이나 되며 그들 중에 재앙을 만난 사람이 몇이나 되는가? 하나님이 노하셔서 악인들을 벌하시며
  3. 그들을 바람 앞의 지푸라기나 태풍에 불려가는 겨처럼 되게 하신 적이 몇 번이나 있었는가?
  4. 너희는 하나님이 그들의 자녀들을 벌하실 것이라고 말하지만 하나님은 그 자녀들을 벌하시는 것이 아니라 죄를 짓는 바로 그 사람을 벌하셔서 그에게 자기 잘못을 깨닫게 하신다.
  5. 그래서 자기 눈으로 직접 자신의 멸망을 보게 하며 전능하신 분의 분노를 느끼게 해야 한다.
  1. But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.
  2. "Yet how often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out? How often does calamity come upon them, the fate God allots in his anger?
  3. How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a gale?
  4. It is said, 'God stores up a man's punishment for his sons.' Let him repay the man himself, so that he will know it!
  5. Let his own eyes see his destruction; let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
  1. 사람이 자기 생명이 다할 때 실제로 자기 가족을 돌아볼 수 있겠느냐?
  2. 하나님은 가장 높은 자리에 있는 사람까지도 심판하시는데 누가 감히 하나님을 가르칠 수 있겠느냐?
  3. 어떤 사람은 죽는 날까지 건강하고 잘 먹고 잘살며 편안하게 지내고
  4. (23절과 같음)
  5. 또 어떤 사람은 죽는 그날까지 마음의 고통에서 헤어나지 못하고 한번도 제대로 행복하게 살아 보지 못한다.
  1. For what does he care about the family he leaves behind when his allotted months come to an end?
  2. "Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?
  3. One man dies in full vigor, completely secure and at ease,
  4. his body well nourished, his bones rich with marrow.
  5. Another man dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good.
  1. 그렇지만 죽어서 땅 속에 묻히고 구더기의 밥이 되는 것은 마찬가지이다.
  2. 나는 너희가 무슨 생각을 하고 있는지 알고 있으며 나를 해치려는 계획도 다 알고 있다.
  3. 너희는 위인의 집이 어디 있으며 악인들의 집이 어디 있느냐고 말하고 있다.
  4. 너희는 길 가는 사람들에게 물어 보지도 않았느냐? 너희는 그들의 증언을 듣지도 못했느냐?
  5. 그들의 말에 의하면 하나님이 분노하셔서 재앙을 내리시는 날에 언제나 살아 남는 것은 악인들이라고 한다.
  1. Side by side they lie in the dust, and worms cover them both.
  2. "I know full well what you are thinking, the schemes by which you would wrong me.
  3. You say, 'Where now is the great man's house, the tents where wicked men lived?'
  4. Have you never questioned those who travel? Have you paid no regard to their accounts-
  5. that the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, that he is delivered from the day of wrath?
  1. 악인을 면전에서 비난하거나 그가 행한 대로 갚아 줄 자가 누구인가?
  2. 그가 무덤으로 들어가도 그 무덤을 지키는 자들이 있으며
  3. 그의 장례 행렬에는 수많은 조객들이 뒤따르고 심지어 골짜기의 흙덩이까지도 그의 몸을 부드럽게 덮어 준다.
  4. 그러니 너희 위로가 어찌 헛되지 않겠느냐? 너희 대답은 전부 거짓말뿐이다.'
  1. Who denounces his conduct to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?
  2. He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.
  3. The soil in the valley is sweet to him; all men follow after him, and a countless throng goes before him.
  4. "So how can you console me with your nonsense? Nothing is left of your answers but falsehood!"
 
  엘리바스의 세번째 충고(22:1-22:30)    
 
  1. 그때 데만 사람 엘리바스가 말하였다.
  2. '사람이 하나님께 무슨 유익이 되겠느냐? 지혜로운 자도 자기에게만 유익할 따름이다.
  3. 네가 의롭다고 해도 그것이 전능하신 분에게 무슨 기쁨을 줄 수 있겠느냐? 네 행위가 온전한들 그것이 그에게 무슨 유익이 되겠느냐?
  4. 하나님이 너를 책망하시며 너를 심판하시는 것이 너의 경건 때문이라고 생각하느냐?
  5. 결코 그런 것은 아니다. 그것은 네가 크게 범죄하고 악을 행하였기 때문이다.
  1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:
  2. "Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise man benefit him?
  3. What pleasure would it give the Almighty if you were righteous? What would he gain if your ways were blameless?
  4. "Is it for your piety that he rebukes you and brings charges against you?
  5. Is not your wickedness great? Are not your sins endless?
  1. 너는 가난한 형제들이 빚진 것을 갚지 않는다고 해서 터무니없는 담보를 요구하고 그들의 옷까지 벗겨 벌거숭이가 되게 하였으며
  2. 목마른 자에게 물을 주지 않았고 배고픈 자에게 먹을 것을 주지도 않았다.
  3. 그러면서도 너는 권세 있는 자들에게는 네 땅을 주어 그들이 마음대로 거기서 살게 하였다.
  4. 너는 과부를 돕지 않고 빈손으로 돌아가게 하였을 뿐만 아니라 불쌍한 고아들을 착취하였다.
  5. 그래서 네가 지금 함정에 둘러싸여 있고 뜻하지 않은 두려움 속에 빠져있으며
  1. You demanded security from your brothers for no reason; you stripped men of their clothing, leaving them naked.
  2. You gave no water to the weary and you withheld food from the hungry,
  3. though you were a powerful man, owning land-- an honored man, living on it.
  4. And you sent widows away empty-handed and broke the strength of the fatherless.
  5. That is why snares are all around you, why sudden peril terrifies you,
  1. 어두워서 보지 못하고 공포의 홍수에 뒤덮여 있다.
  2. 하나님은 하늘에 높이 계시지 않는가? 하늘의 별들이 얼마나 높은지 보아라.
  3. 그러나 너는 '하나님이 무엇을 아시며 흑암 중에서 어떻게 심판할 수 있겠는가?
  4. 짙은 구름이 그를 가리고 있으므로 그는 우리를 볼 수 없고 다만 창공을 걸어다니고 있을 뿐이다.' 하는구나.
  5. 네가 악인이 밟던 옛 길을 걸을 작정이냐?
  1. why it is so dark you cannot see, and why a flood of water covers you.
  2. "Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars!
  3. Yet you say, 'What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness?
  4. Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.'
  5. Will you keep to the old path that evil men have trod?
  1. 그들은 자기 때가 차기 전에 죽음의 사자에게 끌려갔고 그들의 터전은 홍수에 휩쓸리고 말았다.
  2. 그들은 하나님께 '우리를 내버려 두시오. 당신이 우리를 위해 무엇을 할 수 있겠습니까?' 하였으나
  3. 그래도 하나님은 그들의 집을 좋은 것으로 채워 주셨다. 그러나 악인의 계획은 나와 거리가 멀다'
  4. 의로운 자들은 악인들이 망하는 것을 보고 기뻐할 것이며 죄 없는 자들은 그들을 향해
  5. 보아라. 우리의 원수가 망하고 불이 그들의 재산을 삼켜 버렸다.' 하고 조롱할 것이다.
  1. They were carried off before their time, their foundations washed away by a flood.
  2. They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?'
  3. Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.
  4. "The righteous see their ruin and rejoice; the innocent mock them, saying,
  5. 'Surely our foes are destroyed, and fire devours their wealth.'
  1. 너는 하나님께 굴복하고 그와 화목하여라. 그러면 그가 너를 축복해 주실 것이다.
  2. 너는 그의 교훈을 받아들이고 그의 말씀을 네 마음에 간직하여라.
  3. 네가 만일 전능하신 분에게 돌아가고 또 네 집에서 악을 제거하면 네가 다시 일어설 것이다.
  4. 너는 돈에 대한 욕심을 버리고 네 금을 던져 버려라.
  5. 그러면 바로 전능하신 그가 너에게 금이 되고 귀한 은이 될 것이다.
  1. "Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
  2. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.
  3. If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent
  4. and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines,
  5. then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you.
  1. 그렇게 되면 너는 전능하신 분에게서 기쁨을 찾을 수 있을 것이며 하나님을 향하여 너의 얼굴을 들 수 있을 것이다.
  2. 그가 기도하면 그가 응답할 것이며 또 그에게 네가 약속한 것도 지킬 수 있을 것이다.
  3. 그리고 네가 무슨 계획을 세워도 성취될 것이며 빛이 너의 가는 길을 비추어 줄 것이다.
  4. 네가 천한 대우를 받고 굴욕을 당하거든 다시 너를 높여 줄 자가 있음을 기억하여라. 하나님은 겸손한 자를 구원하실 것이며
  5. 죄인들이라도 구해 주실 것이니 너의 깨끗한 손을 통해 그런 자가 구원을 받게 될 것이다.'
  1. Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.
  2. You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.
  3. What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.
  4. When men are brought low and you say, 'Lift them up!' then he will save the downcast.
  5. He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands."
