- 내 아들아, 네가 만일 이웃을 위해 담보물을 잡히고 다른 사람의 빚 보증을 섰다가
- 네가 한 말로 함정에 빠졌으면
- 이것은 네가 네 이웃에게 걸려든 것이니 너는 이렇게 하여라. 그에게 속히 가서 겸손한 태도로 네가 보증 선 것을 취소시켜 달라고 부탁하여 가능한 한 거기서 빠져나오도록 하라.
- 너는 그 일을 미루지 말며 그 문제를 해결할 때까지 잠을 자거나 긴장을 풀지 말고
- 노루가 사냥꾼의 손에서, 새가 그물을 치는 자의 손에서 벗어나는 것처럼 그 함정에서 빠져나오도록 하라.

- My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have struck hands in pledge for another,
- if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth,
- then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor's hands: Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor!
- Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids.
- Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

- 게으른 자여, 개미에게 가서 그 하는 일을 보고 지혜를 얻어라.
- 개미는 두목이나 지도자나 감독관이 없어도
- 여름동안에 부지런히 일하여 추수 때에 겨울철에 먹을 양식을 모은다.
- 게으른 자여, 네가 언제까지 누워 있을 작정이냐? 언제나 네가 깨어서 일어나겠느냐?
- '좀 더 자자. 좀더 졸자. 손을 모으고 좀더 쉬자.' 하면

- Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!
- It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
- yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
- How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
- A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest-

- and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
