예레미야 15:1-16:21

 하나님께서는 유다가 파멸될 것임을 선언하시고, 그 때까지 예레미야에게 사명을 감당할 수 있는 힘을 주시고 악인들의 손에서 건져 주실 것을 약속하셨다. 또한 예레미야의 생활을 통해 유다의 심판에 대해 상징적으로 보여 주셨으며, 유다 백성이 징계를 받아 장차 이방 땅에서 이방 신을 섬기게 되지만 때가 되면 다시 회복시킬 것도 아울러 약속하셨다.
  
  탄식과 위로(15:1-15:21)    
 
  1. 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. '모세와 사무엘이 내 앞에 나타난다고 해도 나는 이 백성에게 자비를 베풀지 않고 그들을 내 앞에서 쫓아낼 것이다.
  2. 만일 그들이 너에게 '우리가 어디로 가야 하겠습니까?' 하고 물으면 너는 그들에게 이렇게 대답하라. 이것은 여호와의 말씀이다. '죽기로 되어 있는 자는 죽음으로, 칼날에 죽을 자는 전쟁으로, 기근을 당할 자는 기근으로, 포로 될 자는 포로로 나아가라.'
  3. 나 여호와가 말한다. 나는 그들을 네 가지 방법으로 벌하겠다. 그들은 먼저 전쟁에서 죽임을 당할 것이다. 그런 다음에는 그 시체를 개가 끌고 다니며 찢을 것이요 또 공중의 새들이 그 고기를 먹을 것이며 남은 것은 들짐승이 삼켜 버릴 것이다.
  4. 유다 왕 히스기야의 아들인 므낫세가 예루살렘에서 행한 일 때문에 내가 그들을 온 세계에 증오의 대상이 되게 하겠다.
  5. 예루살렘아, 누가 너를 불쌍히 여기겠느냐? 너를 위해 슬퍼할 자가 누구며 걸음을 멈추고 네 형편을 물어 볼 자가 누구인가?
  1. Then the LORD said to me: "Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before me, my heart would not go out to this people. Send them away from my presence! Let them go!
  2. And if they ask you, 'Where shall we go?' tell them, 'This is what the LORD says: " 'Those destined for death, to death; those for the sword, to the sword; those for starvation, to starvation; those for captivity, to captivity.'
  3. "I will send four kinds of destroyers against them," declares the LORD, "the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.
  4. I will make them abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem.
  5. "Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are?
  1. 네가 나를 버리고 계속 타락의 길을 걸었으므로 내가 손을 펴서 너를 칠 것이다. 이제 너를 측은하게 여기는 데도 진력이 났다.'
  2. 내가 그 땅의 여러 성문에서 그들을 키질하여 그들의 자식을 죽이고 내 백성을 없애 버릴 것이다. 이것은 그들이 악한 길에서 돌아서지 않았기 때문이다.
  3. 내가 그 땅의 과부들을 바다의 모래보다 많게 할 것이며 대낮에 멸망의 사자를 그들에게 보내 청년들과 그들의 어머니를 치고 그들에게 갑자기 번민과 공포를 불러 일으키겠다.
  4. 일곱 자녀를 잃은 어머니가 점점 쇠약하여 기절하게 될 것이며 아직 낮인데도 그녀의 태양은 떨어져 수치와 부끄러움을 당하게 될 것이다. 그리고 살아 남은 자들은 대적의 칼날에 죽게 하겠다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.
  5. 정말 슬픈 일이다. 나의 어머니가 나를 온 세상과 다투고 논쟁하는 자로 낳으셨구나. 내가 아무에게도 빌리거나 빌려 준 일이 없는데 모든 사람이 나를 저주하는구나.
  1. You have rejected me," declares the LORD. "You keep on backsliding. So I will lay hands on you and destroy you; I can no longer show compassion.
  2. I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways.
  3. I will make their widows more numerous than the sand of the sea. At midday I will bring a destroyer against the mothers of their young men; suddenly I will bring down on them anguish and terror.
  4. The mother of seven will grow faint and breathe her last. Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced and humiliated. I will put the survivors to the sword before their enemies," declares the LORD.
  5. Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth, a man with whom the whole land strives and contends! I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me.
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '내가 분명히 선한 목적을 위해서 너를 구원할 것이며 내가 재앙과 환난 때에 네 대적이 너에게 간청하게 할 것이다.
  2. 누가 북방의 활과 놋을 꺾겠느냐?
  3. 네가 온 땅에 범죄하였으므로 너의 모든 재산과 보물이 무조건 약탈당하게 할 것이다.
  4. 내가 너로 알지 못하는 땅에서 네 원수를 섬기게 하겠다. 이것은 너에 대한 내 분노가 불처럼 타오르기 때문이다.'
  5. '여호와여, 주는 아십니다. 나를 기억하시고 돌보시며 나를 박해하는 자에게 보복하소서. 주께서 그들을 오랫동안 내버려 두어 내가 그들의 손에 멸망당하는 일이 없게 하소서. 내가 주를 위해 모욕당하는 것을 생각하소서.
  1. The LORD said, "Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in times of disaster and times of distress.
  2. "Can a man break iron-- iron from the north--or bronze?
  3. Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without charge, because of all your sins throughout your country.
  4. I will enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for my anger will kindle a fire that will burn against you."
  5. You understand, O LORD; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering--do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.
  1. 전능하신 하나님 여호와여, 주께서 말씀하셨을 때 나는 그 말씀을 맛있는 음식처럼 받아먹었습니다. 주의 말씀이 내 마음의 기쁨과 즐거움이 되었던 것은 내가 주를 섬기는 종이었기 때문입니다.
  2. 나는 흥겹게 노는 자들과 자리를 같이하지 않았으며 그들과 즐기지도 않았고 주의 명령대로 홀로 지냈습니다. 이것은 주께서 나에게 분개한 마음을 주셨기 때문입니다.
  3. 어째서 나의 고통은 이처럼 계속되며 내 상처가 낫지 않습니까? 주는 물이 넘쳤다가 말랐다가 하는 종잡을 수 없는 시내처럼 나를 대하실 작정이십니까?
  4. 그러자 여호와께서 대답하셨다. '네가 만일 회개하면 내가 너를 회복시켜 다시 나를 섬길 수 있도록 하겠다. 네가 천한 말을 하지 않고 값진 말을 하면 너는 나의 대변자가 될 것이다. 너는 이 백성이 너에게 찾아오게 하고 네가 그들에게 찾아가지 않도록 하라.
  5. 내가 너를 이 백성에게 튼튼한 놋성벽처럼 되게 하겠다. 그들이 너를 대적하여 싸워도 너를 이겨내지 못할 것이다. 이것은 내가 너와 함께 하여 너를 보호하고 안전하게 지킬 것이기 때문이다.
  1. When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.
  2. I never sat in the company of revelers, never made merry with them; I sat alone because your hand was on me and you had filled me with indignation.
  3. Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable? Will you be to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails?
  4. Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.
  5. I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you," declares the LORD.
  1. 내가 너를 악한 자의 손에서 건지고 잔인한 자의 손에서 구할 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  1. "I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the cruel."
 
  재앙과 회복(16:1-16:21)    
 
  1. 여호와께서 다시 나에게 말씀하셨다.
  2. '너는 이런 곳에서 결혼하거나 자녀를 두지 말아라.
  3. 이 땅에서 난 자녀들과 그들을 낳은 부모들에 대하여 내가 말하겠다.
  4. 그들은 무서운 병으로 죽을 것이며 그들을 위해 슬퍼하거나 그들을 매장해 주는 자가 없으므로 그들의 시체가 들의 거름더미 같을 것이다. 그들은 전쟁과 기근으로 망하고 그 시체는 공중의 새와 들짐승의 밥이 될 것이다.
  5. 너는 초상집에 들어가지 말며 가서 울거나 조의를 표하지 말아라. 내가 이 백성에게서 평화를 빼앗고 나의 사랑과 자비를 거두었다.
  1. Then the word of the LORD came to me:
  2. "You must not marry and have sons or daughters in this place."
  3. For this is what the LORD says about the sons and daughters born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers:
  4. "They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like refuse lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth."
  5. For this is what the LORD says: "Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing, my love and my pity from this people," declares the LORD.
  1. 높은 자나 낮은 자가 다 이 땅에서 죽고 그들을 매장하거나 그들을 위해 우는 자가 없을 것이며 슬퍼서 자기 살을 베거나 머리를 미는 자들도 없을 것이다.
  2. 또 상주들을 위로하기 위해서 그들에게 음식을 권하거나 부모를 잃은 자들에게 위로의 잔을 권할 자들이 없을 것이다.
  3. 너는 잔치집에 들어가서 그들과 함께 앉아 먹거나 마시지 말아라.
  4. 이스라엘의 하나님 전능한 나 여호와가 말한다. 네가 살아 있는 동안 내가 이 땅에서 기뻐하고 즐거워하는 소리와 신랑 신부의 소리가 들리지 않게 하겠다.
  5. 네가 이 모든 것을 백성들에게 말할 때 그들이 너에게 '여호와께서는 어째서 우리에게 이런 큰 재앙을 선포하시는가? 우리가 잘못한 것이 무엇이며 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와께 범죄할 것이 무엇인가?' 하고 묻거든
  1. "Both high and low will die in this land. They will not be buried or mourned, and no one will cut himself or shave his head for them.
  2. No one will offer food to comfort those who mourn for the dead--not even for a father or a mother--nor will anyone give them a drink to console them.
  3. "And do not enter a house where there is feasting and sit down to eat and drink.
  4. For this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Before your eyes and in your days I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in this place.
  5. "When you tell these people all this and they ask you, 'Why has the LORD decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the LORD our God?'
  1. 너는 그들에게 이렇게 대답하라. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '너희 조상들이 나를 떠나서 다른 신들을 좇아 그들에게 절하고 섬기며 나를 버리고 내 법을 지키지 않았다.
  2. 그런데 너희는 너희 조상들보다도 더 많은 악을 행하였다. 너희가 모두 너희 마음의 악한 고집대로 행하고 나에게 순종하지 않았으므로
  3. 내가 너희를 이 땅에서 너희와 너희 조상들이 전에 알지 못하던 땅으로 추방해 버릴 것이다. 너희는 거기서 밤낮 다른 신들을 섬기게 될 것이며 나는 너희에게 은혜를 베풀지 않을 것이다.'
  4. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '그러나 다시는 '이스라엘 백성을 이집트에서 인도해 내신 살아 계신 하나님'이란 말로 맹세하지 않고 '이스라엘 백성을 북쪽 땅과 쫓겨간 모든 나라에서 인도해 내신 살아 계신 하나님'이란 말로 맹세하게 될 날이 올 것이다. 내가 그들을 그 조상들에게 준 그들의 땅으로 다시 돌아오게 하겠다.'
  5. (14절과 같음)
  1. then say to them, 'It is because your fathers forsook me,' declares the LORD, 'and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law.
  2. But you have behaved more wickedly than your fathers. See how each of you is following the stubbornness of his evil heart instead of obeying me.
  3. So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.'
  4. "However, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when men will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,'
  5. but they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.' For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers.
  1. 여호와께서 다시 말씀하셨다. '보라, 내가 많은 어부들을 불러다가 이 백성들을 낚아내게 하며 많은 사냥꾼들을 불러다가 모든 산과 굴과 바위 틈에서 그들을 사냥하게 하겠다.
  2. 나는 그들이 행하는 일을 다 지켜보고 있으므로 그들이 나를 피해 숨을 수 없고 그들의 죄도 내 앞에서 숨겨질 수가 없다.
  3. 내가 그들의 죄와 악에 대하여 배로 갚아 주겠다. 이것은 그들이 시체와 같은 생명 없는 우상으로 내 땅을 더럽히고 그 땅에 더럽고 추한 것으로 가득 채웠기 때문이다.'
  4. 여호와여, 주는 나의 힘이 되시고 나의 요새가 되시며 환난날에 피난처가 되십니다. 세계 각처에서 여러 민족이 주께 나아와 이렇게 말할 것입니다. '우리 조상들이 우리에게 물려 준 것은 거짓되고 쓸모없는 헛된 우상뿐이었습니다.
  5. 사람이 어떻게 신이 아닌 것을 자기 신으로 삼을 수 있겠습니까?'
  1. "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the LORD, "and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks.
  2. My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.
  3. I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin, because they have defiled my land with the lifeless forms of their vile images and have filled my inheritance with their detestable idols."
  4. O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, "Our fathers possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols that did them no good.
  5. Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!"
  1. 그러나 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '내가 단번에 나의 능력을 보여 내가 여호와라는 것을 그들이 알도록 하겠다.'
  1. "Therefore I will teach them-- this time I will teach them my power and might. Then they will know that my name is the LORD.
 
  속이는 시내( 15:18)  비가 오면 물줄기를 이루다가 이내 사라지고 마는 와디 현상으로, 중동 지역에서 흔히 볼 수 있다  
  망탄(妄誕, 16:19)  어리석고 허무한 것
