- (다윗의 시. 성가대 지휘자인 여두둔을 따라 부른 노래) 나는 말하였다. '내가 내 행위를 조심하고 내 혀로 범죄하지 않으며 악인들이 내 앞에 있는 한 내가 입을 열지 않고 침묵을 지키리라.'
- 내가 침묵을 지키고 선한 말도 입 밖에 내지 않으니 내 고통이 한층 더하는구나.
- 내 마음이 속에서 뜨거워지고 생각하면 생각할수록 속이 답답하고 불이 붙는 것 같아 부르짖지 않을 수 없구나.
- 여호와여, 내 생의 종말과 수명에 대하여 말씀해 주시고 이 세상의 삶이 얼마나 덧없는 것인지 나에게 알게 하소서.
- 주께서 내 날을 손바닥 넓이만큼 되게 하셨으니 나의 일생도 주 앞에는 일순간에 불과하며 인간이 잘난 척하지만 한 번의 입김에 지나지 않습니다.

- I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
- I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
- My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
- LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.
- Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

- 사람이 부산하게 이리저리 뛰어다니지만 그림자에 불과하고 그 하는 일도 헛되며 기를 쓰고 재산을 모으지만 누가 가져갈지 알지 못합니다.
- 여호와여, 이제 내가 무엇을 바라겠습니까? 나의 희망은 오직 주께 있습니다.
- 내 모든 죄에서 나를 구하시고 어리석은 자들의 조롱거리가 되지 않게 하소서.
- 내가 침묵을 지키고 입을 열지 않는 것은 이 고통이 주께로부터 온 것이기 때문입니다.
- 이제 주의 채찍을 나에게서 거두소서. 주께서 치시므로 내가 거의 죽게 되었습니다.

- Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
- And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
- Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
- I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
- Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.

- 주께서 범죄한 사람을 징계하실 때 그의 소중한 것을 좀먹듯이 소멸하시니 참으로 사람은 한 번의 입김에 불과합니다.
- 여호와여, 나의 기도를 들으시고 나의 부르짖음에 귀를 기울이소서. 내가 울부짖을 때 나의 눈물을 외면하지 마소서. 나의 모든 조상들처럼 나는 잠시 주와 함께 있는 나그네에 불과합니다.
- 여호와여, 나를 살려 주소서. 내 생명이 떠나 없어지기 전에 내 기력을 되찾게 하소서.'

- When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
- Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
- O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
