신명기 7:1-8:20

 모세는 백성들에게 가나안 정복시에 원주민들을 멸절시키고 그들의 우상을 훼파할 것을 지시했다. 그리고 하나님의 율법을 지키는 자에게는 풍성한 복이 임하고 질병이 없을 것이라고 말했다. 또한 40년 간의 광야 생활을 회고하면서, 그들을 연단하신 하나님의 뜻을 따라 약속의 땅에 들어간 후에도 하나님을 잊지 말고 우상을 멀리할 것을 강조했다.
  
  하나님의 명령에 대한 순종(7:1-7:26)    
 
  1. '여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 여러분을 약속의 땅으로 인도하시고 여러분보다 크고 강한 일곱 민족 곧 헷족, 기르가스족, 아모리족, 가나안족, 브리스족, 히위족, 여부스족을 여러분 앞에서 쫓아내실 것입니다.
  2. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 여러분의 손에 넘겨 주어 그들을 치게 하실 때에 여러분은 그들과 협상하지 말며 그들을 불쌍히 여기지도 말고 모조리 죽이십시오.
  3. 또 여러분은 그들과 결혼하지 말고 여러분의 자녀들도 그들과 결혼시키지 마십시오.
  4. 만일 여러분이 그들과 결혼하게 되면 여러분의 자녀들이 그들의 유혹에 빠져 여호와를 떠나고 다른 신들을 섬기게 될 것입니다. 그러면 여호와께서 여러분에게 노하셔서 여러분을 즉시 멸망시킬 것입니다.
  5. 그러므로 여러분은 그들의 제단을 헐고 그들이 섬기는 돌기둥의 우상을 깨뜨려 버리고 아세라 여신상과 조각한 우상들을 모조리 찍어서 불에 태워 버리십시오.
  1. When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
  2. And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
  3. Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
  4. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
  5. But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
  1. 여러분은 여러분의 하나님 여호와의 거룩한 백성입니다. 여호와께서는 이 세상의 모든 민족 가운데서 여러분을 택하여 자기 백성으로 삼으셨습니다.
  2. 여러분이 다른 민족보다 수가 많기 때문에 여호와께서 여러분을 사랑하시고 택한 것이 아닙니다. 오히려 여러분은 모든 민족 가운데 가장 작은 민족입니다.
  3. 여호와께서는 다만 여러분을 사랑하시고 여러분의 조상들에게 하신 약속을 지키기 위해서 큰 능력과 놀라운 기적으로 이집트 왕 바로의 노예 생활에서 여러분을 구출해 내신 것입니다.
  4. 그러므로 여러분의 하나님 여호와만이 유일하시고 신실하신 하나님이심을 명심하십시오. 여호와께서는 자기를 사랑하고 그 계명을 지키는 자에게는 약속대로 천 대까지 사랑을 베푸실 것입니다.
  5. 그러나 여호와께서 자기를 미워하는 자에게는 주저하지 않고 당장 벌을 내리실 것입니다.
  1. For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
  2. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
  3. But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
  4. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
  5. And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
  1. 그러므로 내가 오늘 여러분에게 가르치는 이 모든 법과 규정을 지키십시오.
  2. 여러분이 이 모든 법을 듣고 충실히 준수하면 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분의 조상들과 맺은 계약을 지켜 여러분에게 한결같은 사랑을 베푸실 것입니다.
  3. 그리고 여호와께서는 여러분을 사랑하실 뿐만 아니라 여러분의 조상들에게 약속하신 땅에서 여러분에게 복을 주어 큰 민족이 되게 하시고 여러분의 토지에도 복을 주셔서 곡식과 포도주와 감람기름이 풍성하게 하실 것이며 여러분의 소와 양이 잘 번식하게 하실 것입니다.
  4. 또 여러분은 세상의 그 어떤 민족보다 많은 복을 받게 될 것이며 자식을 낳지 못하는 사람이 없고 새끼를 낳지 못하는 짐승이 없을 것입니다.
  5. 그리고 여호와께서는 여러분을 모든 질병에서 보호하여 여러분이 이집트에서 겪은 것과 같은 그런 무서운 병에 걸리지 않게 하고 대신 여러분의 모든 원수들에게 그 병이 발생하게 하실 것입니다.
  1. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
  2. Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
  3. And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
  4. Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
  5. And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
  1. 여러분은 여호와 하나님이 여러분에게 넘겨 주신 모든 민족들을 전멸시켜야 합니다. 그들을 불쌍히 여기거나 그들의 우상을 섬기지 마십시오. 그것이 여러분에게 덫이 될 것입니다.
  2. 여러분은 이 민족들이 우리보다 훨씬 수가 많은데 어떻게 그들을 쫓아낼 수 있겠는가? 하고 생각할지도 모르겠습니다.
  3. 그러나 그들을 조금도 두려워하지 말고 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 바로와 온 이집트 땅에 행하신 일을 기억하십시오.
  4. 여러분은 여호와 하나님이 여러분을 인도해 내실 때 행하신 무서운 재앙과 놀라운 기적과 큰 능력을 다 목격하였습니다. 여호와께서는 여러분이 지금 두려워하는 모든 민족들에게도 이와 똑같이 행하실 것입니다.
  5. 또 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 그들에게 공포심을 일으켜 여러분을 피해 숨어 있는 자들을 멸망시키실 것입니다.
  1. And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
  2. If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
  3. Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
  4. The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
  5. Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
  1. 여러분은 그들을 두려워하지 마십시오. 여러분은 하나님 여호와께서 여러분과 함께 계십니다. 그분은 위대하고 두려운 하나님이십니다.
  2. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 그들을 조금씩 서서히 쫓아내실 것입니다. 그러므로 여러분은 그들을 성급하게 제거하지 마십시오. 만일 그렇게 하면 들짐승이 득실거려 여러분에게 위협이 될 것입니다.
  3. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 그들을 여러분에게 넘겨 주어 그들이 멸망할 때까지 큰 혼란에 빠지게 하실 것입니다.
  4. 그리고 여호와께서 그들의 왕들을 여러분에게 넘겨 주어 여러분이 그들을 죽이고 이름조차 기억나지 않게 하실 것입니다. 아무도 여러분을 당해 내지 못할 것이며 결국 여러분은 그들을 다 멸망시킬 것입니다.
  5. 여러분은 그들의 우상을 불태워 버리고 그 우상에 입힌 금이나 은을 탐내지 말며 그런 것에 손도 대지 마십시오. 그것이 여러분에게 덫이 될 것입니다. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 우상 숭배를 몹시 싫어하십니다.
  1. Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
  2. And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
  3. But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
  4. And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
  5. The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
  1. 여러분은 우상을 집 안에 들여놓지 마십시오. 그렇지 않으면 여러분도 그들과 똑같은 저주를 받게 될 것입니다. 여러분은 우상을 철저히 미워하고 멀리하십시오. 그것은 저주받은 것입니다.'
  1. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
 
  하나님을 기억하라(8:1-8:20)    
 
  1. '여러분은 오늘 내가 전하는 여호와의 모든 명령을 성실히 준수하십시오. 그러면 여러분이 살 뿐만 아니라 번성하여 여호와께서 여러분의 조상들에게 약속하신 땅에 들어가 그 땅을 차지하게 될 것입니다.
  2. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 지난 40년 동안 광야에서 어떻게 여러분을 안도하셨는지 한번 생각해 보십시오. 여호와께서는 여러분이 실제로 그 명령에 순종할 것인지 아닌지 여러분의 마음을 알아보려고 많은 어려움을 통해 여러분을 시험하셨습니다.
  3. 여호와께서 여러분을 낮추시고 굶주리게 하시며 여러분과 여러분의 조상들이 전에 먹어 보지 못한 만나를 주어 먹게 하신 것은 사람이 빵으로만 살 것이 아니라 하나님의 모든 말씀으로 살아야 한다는 것을 여러분에게 가르치기 위해서 였습니다.
  4. 지나온 40년 동안 여러분의 옷이 해어지지 않았고 여러분의 발이 부르트지 않았습니다.
  5. 여러분은 사람이 자기 자식을 징계하는 것처럼 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분을 징계하시는 것을 알아야 합니다.
  1. All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
  2. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
  3. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
  4. Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
  5. Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
  1. 그러므로 여러분은 여호와의 명령을 지키고 그분의 뜻을 따라 살며 그분을 두려운 마음으로 섬기십시오.
  2. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 시냇물과 연못이 있고 산골짜기에 샘물이 흘러 넘치는 아름다운 땅으로 여러분을 인도하실 것입니다.
  3. 그 곳은 밀과 보리와 포도와 무화과와 석류와 감람나무와 꿀이 많은 땅이며
  4. 양식이 풍부하여 부족함이 없고 철이 돌처럼 흔하며 산에 구리가 많은 땅입니다.
  5. 여러분은 먹을 것이 풍부할 때 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 주신 기름진 강에 대하여 그 분에게 감사하십시오.
  1. Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
  2. For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
  3. A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
  4. A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
  5. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
  1. 여러분은 오늘 내가 가르치는 여호와의 모든 법과 규정을 어기고 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 잊어버리지 않도록 조심하십시오.
  2. 여러분이 먹을 것이 풍부하고 아름다운 집을 짓고 살며
  3. 양떼와 소떼와 은과 금과 여러분의 재산이 많아질 때
  4. 여러분은 교만하여 이집트에서 종살이하던 여러분을 인도해 내신 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 잊지 않도록 명심해야 합니다.
  5. 여호와께서는 여러분을 독사와 전갈이 많고 땅이 메마른 넓고 무시무시한 광야를 지나게 하셨으며 또 여러분을 위해 바위에서 물이 솟아나게 하셨습니다.
  1. Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
  2. Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
  3. And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
  4. Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
  5. Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
  1. 그리고 여러분의 조상들도 먹어 보지 못한 만나를 이 광야에서 여러분에게 먹이셨습니다. 여호와께서 여러분을 낮추시고 시험하신 것은 결국 여러분에게 유익을 주기 위한 것이었습니다.
  2. 여러분은 여러분의 힘과 능력으로 부유해졌다고 생각해서는 안 됩니다.
  3. 여러분에게 부유해지는 능력을 주신 분이 여러분의 하나님 여호와이심을 기억하십시오. 여호와께서 이렇게 하시는 것은 여러분의 조상들에게 하신 약속을 오늘날처럼 지키기 위해서입니다.
  4. 만일 여러분이 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 잊어버리고 다른 신들을 좇아 섬기며 그것에 절하면 여러분은 반드시 망하고 말 것입니다.
  5. 여러분이 여호와께 순종하지 않으면 여호와께서는 다른 민족들과 마찬가지로 여러분도 멸망시키실 것입니다.'
  1. Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
  2. And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
  3. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
  4. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
  5. As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.
