- 그리고 나서 예수님이 제자들에게 '내가 너희를 지갑이나 가방이나 신도 없이 보냈을 때 부족한 것이 있었느냐?' 하고 물으시자 제자들은 '없었습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
- 그래서 예수님은 다시 말씀하셨다. '그러나 이제는 지갑이나 가방이 있는 사람은 가지고 다니고 칼이 없는 사람은 겉옷을 팔아서 칼을 사라.
- 내가 너희에게 말하지만 '그가 범죄자처럼 되었다.'라고 기록된 말이 내게 이루어져야 한다. 사실 내게 관한 일은 이루어져 가고 있다.'
- 그때 제자들이 '주님, 여기 칼 두자루가 있습니다.' 하자 예수님은 '그것이면 충분하다.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 예수님이 습관대로 감람산에 가시자 제자들도 따라갔다.

- And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
- Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
- For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
- And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
- And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

- 예수님은 그 곳이 도착하셔서 제자들에게 '시험에 들지 않게 기도하라.' 하시고
- 그들을 떠나 돌을 던지면 닿을 정도에 떨어진 곳으로 가셔서 무릎을 꿇고 이렇게 기도하셨다.
- '아버지, 아버지께서 원하신다면 이 고난의 잔을 내게서 거두어 주십시오. 그러나 제 뜻대로 마시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하십시오.'
- 그러자 한 천사가 하늘에서 나타나 예수님께 힘을 북돋아 주었다.
- 예수님이 괴로와 몸부림치시며 더욱 간절히 기도하시자 땀이 핏방울같이 되어 땅에 떨어졌다.

- And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
- And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
- Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
- And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
- And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

- 예수님은 기도하던 자리에서 일어나 제자들에게 돌아가 그들이 슬픔에 지쳐 잠든 것을 보시고
- '왜 잠만 자느냐? 시험이 들지 않도록 일어나 기도하여라.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 예수님의 말씀이 미처 끝나기도 전에 한 떼의 군중이 열 두 제자 중 하나인 유다를 앞세우고 나타났다. 유다가 예수님께 가까이 와서 입을 맞추려고 하였으나
- 예수님은 그에게 '유다야, 네가 입맞춤으로 나를 파느냐?' 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 함께 있던 제자들은 되어 가는 일을 보고 예수님께 '주님. 칼로 쳐 버릴까요?' 하고 물었다.

- And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
- And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
- And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
- But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
- When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

- 그러자 그들 중 한 사람이 대제사장의 종을 쳐서 그의 오른쪽 귀를 잘라 버렸다.
- 그러나 예수님은 '그만두어라. 이만하면 됐다' 하시고 그 사람의 귀를 만져 고쳐 주셨다.
- 그리고 예수님은 자기를 잡으러 온 대제사장들과 성전 경비병들과 장로들에게 말씀하셨다. '내가 마치 강도라도 되는 것처럼 너희가 칼과 몽둥이를 들고 나왔느냐?
- 내가 날마다 너희와 함께 성전에 있을 때는 너희가 나를 잡지 않았다. 그러나 이제는 너희 때이며 어두움의 권세가 기세를 부릴 때이다.'

- And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
- And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
- Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
- When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
