	요한복음 18:28-19:16 예수님을 심문한 빌라도는 죄가 없음을 알고 놓아 주려 했으나, 무리들은 예수님을 십자가에 못박으라고 요구했다. 이에 굴복한 빌라도는 예수님을 십자가에 못박도록 무리에게 넘겨 주었다,

	빌라도의 심문(18:28-18:40)

이른 아침 유대인 지도자들은 가야바의 집에서 예수님을 끌고 총독의 관저로 갔다. 그러나 그들은 더럽혀지지 않고 유월절 음식을 먹으려고 총독의 관저 안으로 들어가지 않았다.

그래서 빌라도가 밖으로 나와 그들에게 '무슨 일로 이 사람을 고소하시오?' 하고 물었다.

그러자 그들은 '이 사람이 악한 일을 하지 않았다면 우리가 당신에게 넘기지 않았을 것입니다.' 하고 대답하였다.

그때 빌라도가 '그를 데리고 가서 당신들의 법대로 재판하시오.' 하자 유대인들이 '우리에게는 사람을 죽이는 권한이 없습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.

일이 이렇게 될 것은 예수님이 자기가 당하실 죽음에 대해서 이야기하신 그 말씀이 이루어지기 위해서였다.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:

That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

그래서 빌라도는 다시 관저로 들어가서 예수님을 불러 물었다. '네가 유대인의 왕이냐?'

'그것이 네 생각이냐, 아니면 다른 사람들이 나에 대해서 너에게 한 말이냐?'

'너는 내가 유대인이라고 생각하느냐? 네 동족과 대제사장들이 너를 나에게 넘겼다. 도대체 네가 무슨 짓을 했느냐?'

'내 나라는 이 세상에 속하지 않았다. 만일 내 나라가 이 세상에 속했다면 내 종들이 싸워 내가 유대인들에게 넘어가지 않게 했을 것이다. 그러나 내 나라는 이 세상에 속한 것이 아니다.'

'그렇다면 네가 왕이란 말이냐?' '그렇다. 네 말대로 나는 왕이다. 사실 나는 진리를 증거하려고 났으며 이것을 위해 세상에 왔다. 누구든지 진리의 편에 선 사람은 내 말을 듣는다.'

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

그때 빌라도는 '진리가 무엇이냐?' 하였다. 그리고서 그는 다시 밖으로 나가서 유대인들에게 말하였다. '나는 그에게서 아무 죄도 찾지 못하였소.

유월절이 되면 내가 여러분에게 죄수 하나를 석방하는 전례가 있는데 여러분은 내가 유대인의 왕을 놓아 주기를 원하시오?'

그러자 그들은 큰 소리로 '그 사람이 아닙니다. 바라바를 놓아 주십시오.' 하고 외쳤다. 바라바는 강도였다.

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

	사형 선고(19:1-19:16)

그래서 빌라도는 예수님을 데려가 채찍질하였다.

그리고 군인들은 가시관을 엮어서 예수님의 머리에 씌우고 자주색 옷을 입힌 다음

예수님께 바싹 다가서서 '유대인의 왕 만세!' 하고 조롱하며 예수님의 뺨을 후려쳤다.

빌라도는 다시 밖으로 나와 유대인들에게 '내가 그 사람을 여러분 앞에 데려오겠소. 여러분은 내가 그에게서 죄를 찾지 못한 것을 알게 될 것이오.' 하였다.

예수님이 가시관을 쓰고 자주색 옷을 입은 채로 나오시자 빌라도가 그들에게 '보시오! 이 사람이오!' 하였다.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

대제사장들과 성전 경비병들은 예수님을 보고 큰 소리로 '십자가에 못박으시오! 십자가에 못박으시오!' 하고 외쳤다. 그러나 빌라도는 '당신들이 데려가서 십자가에 못박으시오. 나는 그에게서 죄를 찾지 못하였소.' 하고 대답하였다.

그래도 유대인들은 '우리에게도 법이 있습니다. 저 사람이 자기가 하나님의 아들이라고 하였으니 우리 법대로 하면 마땅히 처형되어야 합니다.' 하고 우겨댔다.

빌라도는 이 말을 듣고 더욱 두려워서

다시 관저로 들어가 예수님께 '너는 어디서 왔느냐?' 하고 물었다. 그러나 예수님이 아무 대답도 하지 않으시자

빌라도가 '나에게 말하지 않을 셈이냐? 내게는 너를 놓아 줄 권한도 있고 십자가에 못박을 권한도 있다는 것을 모르느냐?' 하였다.

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

그때 예수님이 이렇게 대답하셨다. '하나님이 주시지 않았다면 나를 해할 권한이 너에게 없었을 것이다. 그러므로 나를 너에게 넘겨 준 자의 죄는 더 크다.'

그때부터 빌라도가 예수님을 놓아주려고 애썼으나 유대인들이 계속 소리를 질렀다. '이 사람을 놓아 주면 로마 황제의 충신이 아닙니다. 누구든지 자기를 왕이라고 하는 사람은 황제를 반역하는 자입니다.'

빌라도는 이 말을 듣고 예수님을 밖으로 끌고 나와서 넓적한 돌이 깔린 곳에 마련된 재판석에 앉았는데 넓적한 돌이 깔린 그 곳은 히브리말로 '가바다'라고 하였다.

그 날은 유월절 전날이었으며 때는 정오쯤 되었다. 빌라도가 유대인들에게 '여러분의 왕이 여기 있소.' 하자

그들은 큰 소리로 '죽여 버리시오! 십자가에 못박으시오!' 하며 외쳤다. 빌라도가 그들에게 '당신들의 왕을 십자가에 못박으란 말이오?' 하자 대제사장들이 '로마 황제 외에는 우리에게 왕이 없습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

그래서 빌라도는 예수님을 십자가에 못박으라고 그들에게 넘겨 주었다.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
