욥기 16:1-19:29

 욥은 친구들을 ‘번뇌케 하는 위로자’라고 고백하였으며, 하나님께 눈물의 기도를 드리면서 자신의 결백함을 보증해 줄 보증물을 달라고 요청하였다. 빌닷은 친구들을 원망하는 욥을 책망하며 욥을 악인에 비유하여 그에게 닥칠 외적인 재앙을 장황하게 묘사하였다. 그러자 욥은 자신에게 닥친 고난은 하나님의 주권적 의사로 말미암았으며, 이제 근거 없는 비방은 그만 두고 긍휼한 마음을 가져 줄 것과 끝까지 비방하면 하나님의 심판을 피하지 못할 것이라고 하였다. 그리고 죽은 후에 하나님 보기를 사모하였다.
  
  욥의 변증(16:1-17:16)    
 
  1. 그러자 욥이 이렇게 대답하였다.
  2. '이런 말은 내가 전에 다 들었다. 너희는 모두 나를 위로하러 온 것이 아니라 오히려 나를 괴롭히려고 온 자들이구나!
  3. 네가 헛된 말을 끝없이 할 작정이냐? 네가 무엇 때문에 그런 말을 하느냐?
  4. 나도 너희처럼 말할 수 있다. 만일 너희가 내 입장에 있다고 하면 나도 얼마든지 말을 지어내어 너희를 괴롭히고 너희를 향해 머리를 흔들 수 있을 것이다.
  5. 하지만 난 그렇게 하지 않겠다. 나 같으면 너희에게 도움이 되는 말을 하여 너희를 위로하고 너희 슬픔을 덜어 주었을 것이다.
  1. Then Job answered and said,
  2. I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
  3. Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
  4. I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
  5. But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
  1. 내가 자신을 변명해도 내 슬픔이 그대로 있는데 내가 입을 다문다고 해서 어찌 마음이 편하겠느냐?
  2. 하나님이시여, 주께서 나를 완전히 지치게 하시고 나의 집안을 황폐하게 하셨습니다.
  3. 주께서 나를 시들게 하여 뼈와 가죽만 남게 하셨으므로 이것이 내 죄를 증거하고 있습니다.
  4. 하나님은 분노로 나를 쳐서 내 살을 찢고 나를 향해 이를 갈며 증오의 눈으로 나를 보시고
  5. 사람들은 입을 벌려 나를 조롱하며 조소로 내 뺨을 치고 한 패가 되어 나를 대적하는구나.
  1. Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
  2. But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
  3. And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
  4. He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
  5. They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
  1. 하나님은 나를 경건치 않은 자들에게 넘겨 주시고 악인의 손에 던져 넣으셨다.
  2. 내가 편안하게 살고 있을 때 그가 나를 꺾고 내 목을 잡아 던져 부수뜨리시며 나를 그의 표적으로 삼으시고
  3. 사방에서 활을 쏘아 사정없이 내 허리를 뚫어 땅에 창자가 쏟아지게 하는구나.
  4. 그가 계속해서 나를 치고 용사처럼 내게 달려드시니
  5. 내가 이렇게 삼베 옷을 입고 티끌 가운데 앉아 슬퍼하는 신세가 되고 말았다.
  1. God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
  2. I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
  3. His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
  4. He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
  5. I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
  1. 내 얼굴은 울어서 붉어 있고 내 눈 언저리에는 죽음의 그늘이 맴돌고 있구나.
  2. 그러나 나는 내 손으로 포학한 일을 한 적이 없으며 나의 기도는 순수하다.
  3. 땅이여, 내 피를 숨기지 말고 그 피가 나를 위해 계속 부르짖게 해 다오.
  4. 지금 나의 증인이 하늘에 계시고 나의 대변자가 높은 곳에 계신다.
  5. 내 친구들이 나를 조롱하니 내 눈이 하나님께 눈물을 쏟는구나.
  1. My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
  2. Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
  3. O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
  4. Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
  5. My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
  1. 사람이 자기 친구를 위해서 변호하듯 누가 나를 위해 하나님께 변호해 주었으면 좋으련만!
  2. 몇 년이 지나면 나도 돌아오지 못할 길로 갈 것이다.
  1. O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
  2. When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
 
 
  1. 기운이 쇠하여 거의 죽게 된 나에게 기다리는 것은 무덤뿐이다.
  2. 나를 조롱하는 자들이 내 주위에 있으니 내 눈이 항상 그들의 적개심을 보게 되는구나.
  3. 하나님이시여, 나에게 죄가 없음을 보증해 주소서. 주 외에 누가 나의 보증인이 되겠습니까?
  4. 주께서 저들의 마음을 가리워 깨닫지 못하게 하셨습니다. 그러므로 저들이 이겨 뽐내지 못하게 하소서.
  5. 뇌물을 받고 친구를 배신하면 그 자녀들의 눈이 먼다는 속담이 있습니다.
  1. My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
  2. Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
  3. Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
  4. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
  5. He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
  1. 하나님이 나를 모든 사람들에게 웃음거리가 되게 하시므로 그들이 내 얼굴에 침을 뱉는구나.
  2. 근심 때문에 나는 눈마저 어두워지고 내 팔다리는 그림자같이 되었다.
  3. 정직한 사람들이 나를 보고 놀라며 죄 없는 자들이 경건치 않은 자들에게 분개하는구나.
  4. 그러므로 의롭게 사는 사람은 계속 착실하게 살 것이며 마음이 깨끗한 자는 점점 힘을 얻게 될 것이다.
  5. 너희는 제발 내 앞에서 사라져다오. 너희 중에서는 지혜로운 자를 찾을 수가 없다.
  1. He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
  2. Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
  3. Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
  4. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
  5. But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
  1. 나에게 좋은 시절은 다 지나가고 나의 희망도 사라졌으며 내 마음의 소원도 좌절되고 말았다.
  2. 너희는 밤을 낮처럼 생각하여 흑암 가운데 있으면서도 빛이 가깝다고 말하는구나.
  3. 내가 만일 죽은 자의 세계로 내려가 흑암 가운데 누워 무덤을 보고 내 아버지라 부르며 구더기를 보고 내 어머니요 내 자매라고 부른다면
  4. (13절과 같음)
  5. 나의 희망이 어디 있겠으며 누가 내 희망을 보겠느냐?
  1. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
  2. They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
  3. If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
  4. I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
  5. And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
  1. 내가 죽으면 내 희망도 죽음의 문까지 내려가 나와 함께 흙 속에 묻혀 버리고 말 것이다.'
  1. They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
 
  빌닷의 두번째 충고(18:1-18:21)    
 
  1. 그때 수아 사람 빌닷이 말하였다.
  2. '네가 언제나 말문을 닫겠느냐? 좀더 지각 있는 말을 하여라. 그러면 우리가 대답하겠다.
  3. 네가 무엇 때문에 우리를 짐승처럼 어리석게 여기느냐?
  4. 네가 분이 못 이겨 네 옷을 찢는다고 해서 이것이 땅을 흔들어 바위를 그 자리에서 옮기겠느냐?
  5. 악인의 빛은 꺼지고 그 불꽃은 타오르지 않을 것이며
  1. Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
  2. How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.
  3. Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
  4. He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
  5. Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
  1. 그의 집안에는 등불이 꺼지고 온통 어두움만 있을 것이다.
  2. 악인은 힘찬 걸음걸이도 맥이 풀리고 자기가 꾸민 꾀에 자기가 빠질 것이며
  3. 그는 제발로 그물에 들어가 발이 걸리고
  4. 발뒤꿈치가 덫에 치여 잡힐 것이다.
  5. 땅에는 그를 잡아 묶을 올가미가 숨겨져 있으며 그의 길에는 함정이 기다리고 있고
  1. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
  2. The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
  3. For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
  4. The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.
  5. The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
  1. 무서운 일들이 사방에서 그를 놀라게 하며 그림자처럼 그를 따라다닐 것이다.
  2. 악인은 굶주림에 시달려 그 힘이 빠지고 재앙이 그 곁에서 기다릴 것이며
  3. 질병이 그의 피부를 좀먹고 그의 팔다리를 삼킬 것이다.
  4. 그는 안전하게 살던 자기 집에서 뽑혀 무서운 죽음의 사자에게 끌려갈 것이니
  5. 그 집은 유황을 뿌려 소독을 한 다음에 다른 사람이 살게 될 것이며
  1. Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
  2. His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
  3. It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
  4. His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
  5. It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
  1. 아래에서는 그의 뿌리가 마르고 위에서는 그의 가지가 시들 것이다.
  2. 그에 대한 모든 기억은 땅에서 사라질 것이며 그의 이름을 기억하는 자가 아무도 없을 것이다.
  3. 그는 세상에서 추방되어 빛의 세계에서 흑암의 세계로 쫓겨갈 것이며
  4. 그에게는 유가족도 없고 후손도 없을 것이다.
  5. 동서 사방에서 그의 소식을 듣는 사람들이 다 무서워서 떨며 놀랄 것이니
  1. His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
  2. His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
  3. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
  4. He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
  5. They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
  1. 이것이 바로 하나님을 알지 못하는 자들의 운명이다.'
  1. Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
 
  욥의 답변(19:1-19:29)    
 
  1. 그래서 욥이 이렇게 대답하였다.
  2. '너희가 언제까지 나를 괴롭히고 말로 나를 꺾을 작정이냐?
  3. 너희가 열 번이나 나를 책망하며 학대하고도 부끄러워하지 않는구나.
  4. 나에게 정말 잘못이 있다고 해도 그것은 나 혼자만의 문제이다.
  5. 너희는 나보다 낫다고 생각하며 내가 당하는 어려움이 내 죄의 댓가라고 여기고 싶겠지만
  1. Then Job answered and said,
  2. How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
  3. These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
  4. And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
  5. If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
  1. 너희가 먼저 알아야 할 것은 나를 이렇게 하신 분이 하나님이시며 그가 나를 잡기 위해서 덫을 놓았다는 사실이다.
  2. 내가 학대를 받고 있다고 부르짖어도 아무런 응답이 없고 도움을 요청하여도 해결해 주는 자가 없구나.
  3. 하나님이 내 길을 막아 나를 지나가지 못하게 하시며 그 길을 가려 어둡게 하시고
  4. 또 나의 영광을 빼앗아 가셨으며 내 머리의 면류관을 벗기셨다.
  5. 그가 사방에서 나를 치시므로 내가 죽게 되었다. 그가 나무 뽑듯이 내 희망을 뿌리째 뽑아 버리시고
  1. Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
  2. Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
  3. He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
  4. He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
  5. He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
  1. 나를 향해 노하시며 나를 원수같이 여기시고
  2. 그의 군대를 보내 내 집을 포위하는구나.
  3. 하나님이 내 형제들을 내게서 멀리 떠나게 하시므로 나를 아는 자들에게 내가 낯선 사람이 되고 말았다.
  4. 내 친척들도 나를 저버리고 내 친구들도 모두 나를 잊었다.
  5. 내 집에 묵고 있는 손님들과 심지어 내 종들까지도 나를 모르는 척하므로 내가 그들에게 외국 사람같이 되고 말았다.
  1. He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
  2. His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
  3. He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
  4. My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
  5. They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
  1. 내 종을 불러도 대답하지 않으니 내가 사정하는 신세가 되었다.
  2. 내 아내도 내 입에서 나는 냄새를 맡지 못하고 내 형제들도 내 곁에 가까이 오기를 싫어하며
  3. 어린아이들까지 나를 보면 업신여기고 조롱하는구나.
  4. 나의 제일 가까운 친구들도 나를 싫어하며 내가 사랑하던 사람들도 돌이켜 나의 대적이 되었다.
  5. 나는 뼈와 가죽만 남아 겨우 목숨만 붙어 있는 신세가 되었구나.
  1. I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
  2. My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.
  3. Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
  4. All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
  5. My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
  1. 내 친구들이여, 나를 좀 불쌍히 여겨다오. 하나님의 손이 나를 치셨다.
  2. 너희가 어째서 하나님처럼 나를 핍박하느냐? 나를 이처럼 괴롭히고도 아직 마음에 만족함이 없느냐?
  3. 누가 내 말을 기억하였다가 책에 기록해 두었으면!
  4. 누가 철필로 내 말을 돌에 새겨 그것이 영원히 보존되도록 했으면 좋겠구나!
  5. 내가 알기에는 나를 구하실 분이 살아 계시므로 그가 결국 땅 위에 서실 것이다.
  1. Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
  2. Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
  3. Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
  4. That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
  5. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
  1. 내 육체의 가죽이 썩은 후에는 내가 육체 밖에서 하나님을 볼 것이며
  2. 그 때는 내 눈이 그를 보아도 낯선 사람처럼 하지 않을 것이니 내 마음이 한없이 설레는구나!
  3. 너희는 '우리가 어떻게 그를 괴롭혀 줄까?' 하고 나를 칠 구실을 찾겠지만
  4. 너희는 칼을 두려워해야 한다. 분노는 칼의 형벌을 초래하므로 너희가 심판이 있는 것을 알게 될 것이다.'
  1. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
  2. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
  3. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
  4. Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
