예레미야 13:1-14:22

 하나님께서는 썩은 베띠와 포도주 병의 상징적 비유를 통하여 하나님을 떠나 죄로 가득 찬 유다에 심판이 임할 것을 경고하시며 백성들의 회개를 촉구하셨다. 그러나 백성들은 회개하지 않았고, 그로 인해 큰 가뭄이 들었으나 거짓 선지자들의 말에 미혹되어 회개하기를 거부했다. 이처럼 회개할 줄 모르는 유다를 위해 예레미야는 탄식하며 중보 기도하였다.
  
  두 가지 비유(13:1-13:27)    
 
  1. 여호와께서 나에게 '너는 가서 베띠를 사서 네 허리에 두르고 그것이 물에 닿지 않게 하라.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
  2. 그래서 나는 여호와의 말씀대로 베띠를 사서 허리에 둘렀다.
  3. 그러나 여호와께서는 다시 나에게 말씀하셨다.
  4. '너는 그 베띠를 가지고 유프라테스 강가로 가서 그것을 그 곳 바위 틈에 숨겨 두어라.'
  5. 그래서 나는 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 가서 그것을 유프라테스 강가에 감추어 두었다.
  1. Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
  2. So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.
  3. And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,
  4. Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
  5. So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.
  1. 여러 날이 지난 후에 여호와께서 나에게 '너는 유프라테스 강가로 가서 그 베띠를 끄집어내 보아라.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
  2. 그래서 내가 유프라테스 강가로 가서 그것을 감추어 둔 곳을 파고 띠를 꺼내 보니 썩어서 못 쓰게 되어 있었다.
  3. 그때 여호와께서 나에게 다시 말씀하셨다.
  4. '이와 같이 내가 유다의 교만과 예루살렘의 큰 교만을 쓸모없는 것이 되게 하겠다.
  5. 이 악한 백성들이 내 말에 순종할 것을 거절하고 그 마음의 악한 고집대로 행하며 다른 신들을 좇아 섬기고 절하니 그들이 이 띠처럼 아주 쓸모없이 되고 말 것이다.
  1. And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
  2. Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
  3. Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
  4. Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
  5. This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
  1. 띠가 사람의 허리에 붙어 있는 것처럼 내가 이스라엘과 유다 백성을 나에게 꼭 붙어 있게 하여 그들이 내 백성으로서 내 이름을 높이고 찬양하도록 하였으나 그들은 내 말을 듣지 않았다.'
  2. 너는 그들에게 '이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 모든 병이 포도주로 찰 것이라고 말씀하셨다.' 하여라. 그러면 그들이 '모든 포도주 병이 포도주로 찰 것을 우리가 어찌 모르겠소?' 하고 대답할 것이다.
  3. 그때 너는 그들에게 이렇게 말하라. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '내가 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들, 곧 다윗의 왕위를 계승할 왕들과 제사장들과 예언자들과 예루살렘의 모든 주민들을 잔뜩 취하게 하고
  4. 그들을 서로 충돌하게 할 것이니 아버지와 아들 사이에도 충돌이 있을 것이다. 내가 그들을 불쌍히 여기지 않으며 동정하거나 애석하게 여기지 않고 완전히 없애 버릴 것이다.' 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  5. 너희는 들어라. 귀를 기울여라 교만하지 말아라.
  1. For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
  2. Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
  3. Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
  4. And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
  5. Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.
  1. 그가 흑암을 일으키시기 전, 어두운 산에서 너희가 비틀거리기 전, 너희가 바라던 빛을 그가 캄캄한 흑암으로 바꾸시기 전에 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와께 영광을 돌려라.
  2. 그러나 너희가 듣지 않으면 너희 교만 때문에 나의 심령이 외롭게 흐느낄 것이며 여호와의 양떼가 사로잡힌 것 때문에 내가 눈물을 흘리며 통곡할 것이다.
  3. 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 왕과 그의 어머니에게 '너희는 높은 자리에서 물러나 앉아라. 너희 영광의 면류관이 떨어졌다.' 하고 말하라.
  4. 네겝 지방의 성들이 봉쇄되어 그리로 통과할 자가 없으며 유다 사람들이 포로가 되어 다 잡혀가고 말았다.
  5. 예루살렘아, 너는 눈을 들어 북쪽에서 오는 군대를 보아라. 너에게 맡겼던 양떼 곧 네가 그처럼 자랑하던 양떼는 어디 있느냐?
  1. Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
  2. But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.
  3. Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.
  4. The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.
  5. Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
  1. 너와 동맹을 맺은 자들을 내가 너의 통치자로 세운다면 네가 어떻게 하겠느냐? 해산하는 여인처럼 네가 진통을 겪지 않겠느냐?
  2. 너는 '어째서 이런 일이 나에게 일어났는가?' 하고 말하겠지만 네가 적군에게 수모를 당하고 상처를 입은 것은 네 죄악이 크기 때문이다.
  3. 이디오피아 사람이 그 피부 색깔을 바꿀 수 있으며 표범이 그 반점을 없앨 수 있느냐? 만일 그렇게 할 수 있다면 악을 행하는 데 익숙한 너희도 선을 행할 수 있을 것이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 너희를 사막의 바람에 날아가는 지푸라기처럼 흩어버릴 것이다.'
  5. 여호와께서 예루살렘을 향하여 다시 말씀하셨다. '이것은 내가 너에게 정한 것이니 네가 반드시 치러야 할 댓가이다. 그 이유는 네가 나를 잊어버리고 거짓된 신들을 의지하였기 때문이다.
  1. What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?
  2. And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.
  3. Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
  4. Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.
  5. This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
  1. 그러므로 내가 네 치마를 얼굴까지 들쳐서 네 수치를 드러낼 것이다.
  2. 내가 너의 간음과 음탕한 소리와 산언덕에서 행하는 더럽고 추한 매춘 행위를 다 보았다. 예루살렘아, 너에게 화가 미칠 것이다. 네가 언제나 깨끗하게 되겠느냐?'
  1. Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.
  2. I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
 
  재앙과 중보 기도(14:1-14:22)    
 
  1. 이것은 가뭄에 대하여 여호와께서 나에게 하신 말씀이다.
  2. '유다가 슬퍼하며 그 성들이 시들어 가고 백성들이 땅에 앉아 통곡하니 예루살렘에서도 부르짖는구나.
  3. 귀족들이 물을 길어오라고 자기 종들을 보내지만 그들은 우물에 가도 물을 얻지 못하고 빈 그릇만 들고 오게 되니 낙심도 되고 미안하기도 하여 얼굴을 들지 못하고 가리고 만다.
  4. 비가 내리지 않아 땅이 갈라지니 농부들이 낙심하여 얼굴을 가리는구나.
  5. 들에 있는 암사슴은 새끼를 낳아도 풀이 없으므로 그 새끼를 내어버리고
  1. The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
  2. Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
  3. And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
  4. Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
  5. Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
  1. 들나귀들은 산언덕에 서서 이리처럼 헐떡이며 풀이 없으므로 쇠약해져서 앞을 제대로 보지 못한다.'
  2. 여호와여, 우리 죄가 우리에게 대하여 증거할지라도 주의 이름을 위해 우리를 도우소서. 우리가 크게 타락하여 주께 범죄하였습니다.
  3. 이스라엘의 희망이시며 환난 때의 구원자이시여, 어째서 주는 낯선 사람처럼, 하룻밤만 머무는 나그네처럼 하십니까?
  4. 어째서 주는 놀라 어리벙벙한 사람 같고 도울 능력이 없는 병사 같으십니까? 여호와여, 그래도 주는 우리 가운데 계시고 우리는 주의 백성입니다. 우리를 버리지 마소서.
  5. 여호와께서 이 백성에 대하여 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '그들이 나를 떠나서 방황하기를 좋아하고 자제하지 않으므로 내가 그들을 받아들이지 않겠다. 내가 그들의 죄를 기억하고 그 죄에 대하여 그들을 벌할 것이다.'
  1. And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
  2. O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
  3. O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
  4. Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
  5. Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
  1. 여호와께서 또 나에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 이 백성을 축복해 달라고 기도하지 말아라.
  2. 그들이 금식하여도 내가 그들의 부르짖음을 듣지 않을 것이며 그들이 불로 태워 바치는 번제와 곡식으로 드리는 소제를 바쳐도 내가 받지 않고 오히려 전쟁과 기근과 전염병으로 그들을 없애 버릴 것이다.'
  3. 그래서 내가 대답하였다. '주 여호와여, 보소서. 예언자들이 백성들에게 '너희는 전쟁을 치르거나 기근을 당하지 않을 것이며 여호와께서 이 땅에 항구적인 평화를 주실 것이다.' 하고 말합니다.'
  4. 그때 여호와께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '예언자들이 내 이름으로 거짓 예언을 하고 있다. 나는 그들을 보내지도 않았고 그들에게 명령하거나 말하지도 않았는데 그들은 자기들이 보지도 듣지도 못한 거짓된 환상과 계시를 말하고 자기들 멋대로 생각하고 조작해서 헛되고 거짓된 것을 너희에게 예언하고 있다.
  5. 그러므로 내가 보내지 않았는데도 '전쟁과 기근은 이 땅에 닥치지 않을 것이다.' 하고 내 이름으로 예언하는 예언자들에 대하여 나 여호와가 말한다. 그들이 바로 그 전쟁과 기근으로 멸망하고 말 것이다.
  1. Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
  2. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
  3. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
  4. Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
  5. Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
  1. 그리고 그들의 예언을 들은 백성들도 그 기근과 전쟁으로 죽어 그들의 시체는 예루살렘 거리에 던져질 것이다. 그러나 그들의 아내와 자식들까지 다 죽고 없기 때문에 그들을 묻어 줄 자가 없을 것이다. 내가 그들의 악을 반드시 갚고야 말겠다.
  2. 너는 그들에게 이렇게 말하라. '내가 밤낮 눈물을 흘리며 울지 않을 수 없으니 나의 처녀 딸과 같은 내 백성이 아주 심한 타격을 받아 다 죽게 되었기 때문이다.
  3. 들에 나가 보면 칼날에 죽은 자들의 시체뿐이요, 성에 들어가면 굶주림과 질병으로 죽어 가는 자들의 아우성이며, 예언자들과 제사장들은 사방 돌아다니지만 어떻게 해야 좋을지 모르고 있다.'
  4. 주께서는 유다를 완전히 버리셨습니까? 주는 시온을 싫어하십니까? 어째서 우리를 고칠 수 없을 정도로 치셨습니까? 우리가 평화를 바라지만 아무것도 좋은 것이 없고 고침받는 때를 기다리지만 오히려 두려움뿐입니다.
  5. 여호와여, 우리가 우리의 악과 우리 조상의 죄를 인정합니다. 정말 우리가 주께 범죄하였습니다.
  1. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
  2. Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
  3. If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
  4. Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!
  5. We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.
  1. 주의 이름을 위해 우리를 미워하지 마소서. 주의 영광스러운 보좌를 욕되게 하지 마시며 우리와 맺은 주의 계약을 기억하시고 그것을 깨뜨리지 마소서.
  2. 어떤 이방신이 비를 내리게 할 수 있겠습니까? 하늘이 스스로 소나기를 내릴 수 있습니까? 우리 하나님 여호와여, 그렇게 하시는 분이 바로 주가 아니십니까? 그러므로 우리가 주께 희망을 두는 것은 주께서 이 모든 일을 행하시기 때문입니다.
  1. Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
  2. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
