- 내 아들아, 네 아버지의 명령을 지키며 네 어머니의 가르침을 저버리지 말고
- 그 말을 항상 네 마음에 새기고 깊이 간직하라.
- 그것은 네가 다닐 때에 너를 인도하며 밤에는 너를 보호하고 낮에는 너에게 조언을 해 줄 것이다.
- 네 부모의 명령은 등불이며 그 가르침은 빛이요 교육적인 책망은 생명의 길이다.
- 이것이 너를 지켜 음란한 여자들의 유혹에 빠지지 않게 할 것이다.

- My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
- Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
- When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
- For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
- To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
