- 거만한 사람은 지혜를 구하여도 얻지 못하지만 총명한 사람은 쉽게 지식을 얻는다.
- 미련한 자를 멀리하라. 그런 자에게서는 아무것도 배울 것이 없다.
- 슬기로운 사람이 지혜로운 것은 자기 앞 길을 알기 때문이며 미련한 자가 어리석은 것은 속이기 때문이다.
- 미련한 사람은 죄를 대단치 않게 생각하지만 정직한 사람은 죄를 두렵게 여긴다.
- 마음의 고통은 자기만이 알고 마음의 즐거움도 진정한 의미에서 다른 사람은 맛볼 수 없다.
