	마태복음 26:69-27:14 예수님을 따르던 베드로는 예언대로 예수님을 세 번 부인하였다. 총독 빌라도에게 넘겨진 예수님은 다시 심문을 받게 되었고 무죄한 예수님을 팔아 넘긴 유다는 자살하고 말았다.

	제자들의 배반(26:69-27:14)

한편 베드로는 뜰에 앉아 있었는데 한 여종이 와서 '당신도 갈릴리 사람 예수와 한패지요?' 하였다.

그러나 베드로는 '도대체 무슨 소리를 하는지 모르겠소.' 하며 모든 사람들 앞에서 부인하였다.

베드로가 정문으로 나갈 때 다른 여종이 보고 거기 있는 사람들에게 '이 사람은 나사렛 예수와 함께 있었어요.' 하고 말하였다.

그러자 이번에는 베드로가 맹세까지 하면서 '나는 그 사람을 알지 못한다니까요.' 하며 딱 잡아 떼었다.

잠시 후 거기 섰던 사람들이 베드로에게 와서 '당신 말씨를 보니 그들과 한패임이 틀림없소.' 하자

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, "You too were with Jesus the Galilean."

But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about."

When he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth."

And again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man."

A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, "Surely you too are one of them; for even the way you talk gives you away."

베드로는 만일 자기가 그런 사람이라면 저주를 받을 것이라고 맹세하면서 '나는 정말 그 사람을 모릅니다.' 하였다. 바로 그때 닭이 울었다.

베드로는 예수님이 '닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번이나 나를 모른다고 말할 것이다.' 라고 하신 말씀이 생각나서 밖으로 나가 한없이 울었다.

Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a rooster crowed.

And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, "Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.

이른 아침 모든 대제사장들과 장로들은 예수님을 죽이기로 합의하였다.

그리고서 그들은 예수님을 묶어서 끌고 가 총독 빌라도에게 넘겼다.

그때 예수님을 팔아 넘긴 유다는 예수님에게 사형 선고가 내린 것을 보고 뉘우쳐 은화 30개를 대제사장들과 장로들에게 돌려 주며

'내가 죄 없는 사람을 죽이려고 팔았으니 정말 큰 죄를 지었소' 하였다. 그러자 그들은 '그것이 우리와 무슨 상관이 있소? 당신이 알아서 할 일이오.' 하고 대답하였다.

유다는 그 돈을 성전에 내던지고 나가서 목매달아 자살하였다.

Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death;

and they bound Him, and led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate the governor.

Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!"

And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.

대제사장들은 그 돈을 주워 '이 돈은 피 값이므로 성전 금고에 넣을 수는 없다.' 하고

의논한 후 그 돈으로 토기장이의 밭을 사서 나그네의 묘지로 삼았다.

그래서 사람들은 오늘날까지도 그 밭을 피밭이라고 부른다.

이렇게 해서 예언자 예레미야의 다음과 같은 예언이 이루어졌다. '그들은 이스라엘 백성이 사람의 몸값으로 정한 은화 30개를 받아

주께서 나에게 명령하신 대로 토기장이의 밭을 사는 값으로 주었다.'

The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood."

And they conferred together and with the money bought the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers.

For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSE PRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel;

AND THEY GAVE THEM FOR THE POTTER'S FIELD, AS THE LORD DIRECTED ME."

예수님이 총독 앞에 서시자 총독은 '네가 유대인의 왕이냐?' 하고 물었다. 예수님은 '그렇다.' 하시고

대제사장들과 장로들이 고소하는 말에는 일체 대답하지 않으셨다.

그때 빌라도가 예수님께 '저 사람들이 너에 대해서 증언하는 말이 들리지 않느냐?' 하고 물어도

예수님이 전혀 대답하지 않으시자 그는 아주 이상하게 생각하였다.

Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not answer.

Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?"

And He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge, so the governor was quite amazed.
