열왕기하 5:1-6:23

 엘리사는 하나님의 능력으로 여러 가지 기적들을 행했다. 아람의 군대 장관 나아만은 엘리사의 이적적인 방법에 순종함으로써 고침을 받았다. 사환 게하시는 탐욕에 빠져 엘리사가 거절한 나아만의 감사 예물을 취하려다가 하나님의 징벌로 문둥병에 걸렸다. 엘리사의 영력으로 인해 번번이 패배를 거듭했던 아람은 그를 체포하기 위해 도단 성을 포위했으나 하나님의 초자연적 역사로 또다시 패배하고 말았다.
  
  나아만의 문둥병 치유(5:1-5:27)    
 
  1. 시리아군의 총사령관 나아만은 자기 왕의 총애를 한 몸에 받고 있었다. 이것은 그가 여호와의 도움으로 시리아군에게 승리를 안겨다 주었기 때문이었다. 이와 같이 그는 훌륭한 장군이었지만 문둥병자였다.
  2. 전에 시리아 사람들이 떼를 지어 나가서 이스라엘 소녀 하나를 잡아온 적이 있는데 그 소녀는 나아만의 아내를 시중드는 하녀가 되었다.
  3. 어느 날 그 하녀는 자기 주인에게 이렇게 말하였다. '주인 어른께서 사마리아에 사는 예언자를 한번 찾아봤으면 좋겠습니다. 아마 그가 주인 어른의 병을 고쳐 주실 것입니다.'
  4. 나아만은 이 말을 듣고 왕에게 가서 그 소녀 이야기를 하였다.
  5. 그러자 왕이 '갔다 오너라. 내가 이스라엘 왕에게 드릴 편지도 한 장 써 주겠다.' 하였다. 그래서 나아만은 은 340킬로그램과 금 약 68킬로그램과 의복 10벌을 가지고 이스라엘로 갔는데
  1. Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man with his master, and highly respected, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram. The man was also a valiant warrior, but he was a leper.
  2. Now the Arameans had gone out in bands and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
  3. She said to her mistress, "I wish that my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would cure him of his leprosy."
  4. Naaman went in and told his master, saying, "Thus and thus spoke the girl who is from the land of Israel."
  5. Then the king of Aram said, "Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel." He departed and took with him ten talents of silver and six thousand shekels of gold and ten changes of clothes.
  1. 그가 이스라엘 왕에게 전한 그 편지 내용은 다음과 같았다. '내가 이 편지와 함께 내 신하 나아만을 당신에게 보냅니다. 아무쪼록 이 사람의 문둥병을 고쳐 주시기 바랍니다.'
  2. 그러나 이스라엘 왕은 그 편지를 읽고 나서 자기 옷을 찢으며 이렇게 외쳤다. '내가 사람을 죽이고 살리는 하나님이란 말인가? 어째서 이 사람이 문둥병자를 고치라고 나에게 보냈는가! 시리아 왕이 나에게 시빗거리를 찾는 것이 틀림없다!'
  3. 하나님의 사람 엘리사가 이스라엘 왕이 자기 옷을 찢었다는 말을 듣고 이런 전갈을 보냈다. '왕은 어째서 그처럼 걱정하십니까? 그 사람을 나에게 보내십시오. 이스라엘에 예언자가 있다는 것을 내가 그에게 보여 주겠습니다.'
  4. 그래서 나아만은 자기 말과 전차들을 이끌고 가서 엘리사의 집 문 앞에 멈춰 섰다.
  5. 그러자 엘리사는 사람을 그에게 보내 요단강에 가서 몸을 일곱 번 씻으면 문둥병이 깨끗이 나을 것이라고 일러 주게 하였다.
  1. He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, "And now as this letter comes to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may cure him of his leprosy."
  2. When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, "Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me."
  3. It happened when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, "Why have you torn your clothes? Now let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel."
  4. So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha.
  5. Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean."
  1. 그러나 나아만은 화가 나서 그 곳을 떠나며 말하였다. '나는 그가 직접 나와서 상처를 어루만지며 그의 하나님 여호와께 기도하여 내 병을 고쳐 줄 것으로 생각하였다.
  2. 다마스커스에는 이스라엘의 그 어느 강보다도 좋은 아바나와 바르발 강이 있지 않은가? 나는 거기서 몸을 씻어도 깨끗이 나을 수 있다.' 그리고서 그는 격분하여 돌아가려고 하였다.
  3. 그러자 그의 부하들이 다가서며 말하였다. '만일 그 예언자가 이보다 더 어려운 일을 하라고 명령했다면 장군은 그것을 하지 않았겠습니까? 그러나 몸을 씻고 깨끗이 되라고 말씀하셨는데 어째서 장군은 그것도 못하십니까?'
  4. 그래서 나아만은 요단강으로 가서 강물에 몸을 일곱 번 담갔다. 그러자 정말 엘리사의 말대로 문둥병이 깨끗이 나아 그의 살결이 어린아이 살결처럼 되었다.
  5. 나아만은 자기를 따라온 모든 사람들과 함께 엘리사에게 가서 말하였다. '이스라엘 외에는 온 천하에 하나님이 없는 줄을 내가 이제 알겠습니다. 별것은 아닙니다만 저의 이 선물을 받아 주십시오.'
  1. But Naaman was furious and went away and said, "Behold, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.'
  2. "Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage.
  3. Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, "My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?"
  4. So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.
  5. When he returned to the man of God with all his company, and came and stood before him, he said, "Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; so please take a present from your servant now."
  1. 그러자 엘리사는 '내가 섬기는 살아계신 여호와의 이름으로 맹세하지만 나는 그 선물을 받지 않겠습니다.' 하고 대답하였다. 나아만은 그 선물을 받아 달라고 억지로 권하여도 그가 거절하자
  2. 이번에는 이렇게 말하였다. '당신이 내 선물을 받지 않으시겠다면 노새 두 마리에 실을 흙을 나에게 주십시오. 이제부터 내가 여호와 외에 다른 신에게는 번제나 그 밖의 제사를 드리지 않겠습니다.
  3. 하지만 나는 여호와께 한 가지일만은 용서해 주시기를 바라고 있습니다. 왕이 림몬의 신전에 들어갈 때 내 부축을 받아 들어가서 절을 하면 나도 함께 절을 하게 되는데 나는 여호와께서 이 일에 대하여 용서해 주시기를 바랍니다.'
  4. 이때 엘리사가 '좋습니다. 평안히 가시오.' 하자 나아만은 그 곳을 떠났다. 그가 얼마쯤 갔을 때
  5. 엘리사의 사환 게하시가 '내 주인은 나아만이 준 선물을 하나도 받지 않고 그냥 돌려 보냈지만 나는 달려가서 그에게 무엇이든지 좀 얻어 와야겠다.' 하고 생각하며
  1. But he said, "As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will take nothing." And he urged him to take it, but he refused.
  2. Naaman said, "If not, please let your servant at least be given two mules' load of earth; for your servant will no longer offer burnt offering nor will he sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
  3. "In this matter may the LORD pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, when I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon your servant in this matter."
  4. He said to him, "Go in peace." So he departed from him some distance.
  5. But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, thought, "Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Aramean, by not receiving from his hands what he brought As the LORD lives, I will run after him and take something from him."
  1. 나아만의 뒤를 쫓아갔다. 나아만은 한 사람이 뒤쫓아오는 것을 보고 수레에서 내려 그를 맞으며 물었다. '무슨 일입니까?'
  2. '내 주인이 나를 당신에게 보내며 에브라임 산간지대에서 두 예언자의 생도가 왔다고 그들에게 줄 은 34킬로그램과 옷 두 벌을 달라고 말씀하셨습니다.'
  3. 그러자 나아만은 '은 68킬로그램을 받으시오.' 하고 억지로 그 은을 두 자루에 넣어 옷 두 벌과 함께 그의 두 사환에게 주어 게하시 앞에서 메고 가게 하였다.
  4. 그들이 엘리사의 집 앞에 있는 언덕에 이르렀을 때 게하시는 그 물건을 받아 놓고 두 사환을 돌려보낸 다음 그것을 자기 집에 감추었다.
  5. 그리고서 그가 주인에게 나아가자 엘리사가 물었다. '게하시야, 어디 갔다 왔느냐?' '아무데도 가지 않았습니다. 주인님'
  1. So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him and said, "Is all well?"
  2. He said, "All is well My master has sent me, saying, 'Behold, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothes.'"
  3. Naaman said, "Be pleased to take two talents." And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags with two changes of clothes and gave them to two of his servants; and they carried them before him.
  4. When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand and deposited them in the house, and he sent the men away, and they departed.
  5. But he went in and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, "Where have you been, Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant went nowhere."
  1. '그 사람이 수레에서 내려 너를 맞을 때에 내가 영으로 그 곳에 있었던 것을 너는 깨닫지 못했느냐? 지금이 돈이나 의복이나 감람원이나 포도원이나 양이나 소나 종을 받을 때냐?
  2. 이제 나아만의 문둥병이 너와 네 자손에게 옮겨 붙어 대대로 떠나지 않을 것이다.' 게하시가 엘리사 앞에서 물러나오자 그가 문둥병에 걸려 피부가 눈처럼 희어졌다.
  1. Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you, when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money and to receive clothes and olive groves and vineyards and sheep and oxen and male and female servants?
  2. "Therefore, the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever." So he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
 
  아람의 1차 침입(6:1-6:23)    
 
  1. 어느 날 예언자의 생도들이 엘리사에게 와서 이렇게 말하였다. '우리 숙소가 너무 좁습니다.
  2. 우리가 요단 강가에 가서 나무를 베어 그 곳에 우리 숙소를 다시 지을 수 있도록 허락해 주십시오.' 그래서 엘리사는 '좋다. 가거라.' 하고 승낙해 주었다.
  3. 생도 중 하나가 엘리사에게 함께 가자고 권하므로
  4. 엘리사도 그들과 함께 갔다. 그들은 요단 강가에 가서 나무를 베기 시작했는데
  5. 한 사람이 나무를 찍다가 도끼가 자루에서 빠져나가 강물에 떨어졌다. 그러자 그는 '선생님, 어떻게 하면 좋겠습니까? 이것은 빌려 온 도끼입니다.' 하고 외쳤다.
  1. Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "Behold now, the place before you where we are living is too limited for us.
  2. "Please let us go to the Jordan and each of us take from there a beam, and let us make a place there for ourselves where we may live." So he said, "Go."
  3. Then one said, "Please be willing to go with your servants." And he answered, "I shall go."
  4. So he went with them; and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.
  5. But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, "Alas, my master! For it was borrowed."
  1. '그것이 어디에 떨어졌느냐?' 하고 엘리사가 묻자 그 생도는 도끼가 떨어진 곳을 가리켜 주었다. 그래서 엘리사가 나뭇가지를 꺾어 물에 던졌더니 도끼가 수면으로 떠오르지 않겠는가!
  2. '도끼를 건져내어라.' 하고 엘리사가 명령하자 그는 손을 내밀어 도끼를 건져 올렸다.
  3. 한번은 시리아 왕이 이스라엘과 전쟁을 하면서 자기 부하들과 의논하여 진 칠 곳을 정해 놓았다.
  4. 그러나 엘리사는 이스라엘 왕에게 통지하여 시리아군이 진 칠 곳을 일러 주면서 그 곳으로 지나가지 말라고 하였다.
  5. 그래서 이스라엘 왕은 엘리사가 말한 그 곳을 확인하고 철저히 경계하였다. 그 후에도 이런 일은 여러 번 있었다.
  1. Then the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" And when he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float.
  2. He said, "Take it up for yourself." So he put out his hand and took it.
  3. Now the king of Aram was warring against Israel; and he counseled with his servants saying, "In such and such a place shall be my camp."
  4. The man of God sent word to the king of Israel saying, "Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Arameans are coming down there."
  5. The king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God had told him; thus he warned him, so that he guarded himself there, more than once or twice.
  1. 그러자 시리아 왕은 몹시 당황한 나머지 그의 지휘관들을 불러모으고 '반역자가 누구냐? 이스라엘 왕에게 우리 작전 계획을 알려 준 자가 누군지 말하라.' 하고 노발 대발하였다.
  2. 그때 지휘관 중 한 사람이 '왕이시여, 우리가 그런 것은 아닙니다. 엘리사라는 예언자가 왕이 침실에서 은밀하게 말하는 것까지 이스라엘 왕에게 모두 일러바치고 있습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그때 왕이 '너희는 가서 엘리사가 어디 있는지 알아보아라. 내가 사람을 보내 그를 잡아 오도록 하겠다.' 하자 한 사람이 '엘리사가 도단에 있습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  4. 그래서 왕은 말과 전차와 많은 병력을 보냈는데 그들은 밤에 도착하여 그 성을 포위하였다.
  5. 다음 날 아침 엘리사의 사환이 일찍 일어나 밖으로 나가 보니 말과 전차를 갖춘 군인들이 성을 포위하고 있었다. 그러자 그 사환은 엘리사에게 '주인님. 이제 우리는 어떻게 해야 좋습니까?'하고 외쳤다.
  1. Now the heart of the king of Aram was enraged over this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you tell me which of us is for the king of Israel?"
  2. One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."
  3. So he said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and take him." And it was told him, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan."
  4. He sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
  5. Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"
  1. 그때 엘리사는 '두려워하지 말아라. 우리와 함께 한 군대가 그들의 군대보다 더 많다' 하고
  2. 이렇게 기도하였다. '여호와여, 이 사환의 눈을 열어서 보게 하소서.' 그래서 여호와께서는 그 사환의 눈을 열어 주셨는데 그가 보니 불말과 불수레가 온 산에 가득하여 엘리사를 둘러싸고 있었다.
  3. 시리아군이 공격해 올 때 엘리사가 '여호와여. 저 사람들의 눈을 어둡게 하소서.' 하고 기도하자 여호와께서 그들의 눈을 어둡게 하셨다.
  4. 그때 엘리사가 그들에게 말하였다. '너희는 길을 잘못 들었다. 이 곳은 너희가 찾는 성이 아니다. 나를 따라오너라. 내가 너희를 안내하여 너희가 찾는 그 사람에게 데려다 주겠다.' 그리고서 엘리사는 그들을 사마리아로 데려갔다.
  5. 그들이 사마리아성에 들어갔을 때 엘리사가 '여호와여, 이 사람들의 눈을 열어서 보게 하소서.' 하고 기도하자 여호와께서 그들의 눈을 열어 주셨다. 그러자 그들은 자기들이 사마리아성 안에 와 있는 것을 알게 되었다.
  1. So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
  2. Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see " And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
  3. When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, "Strike this people with blindness, I pray." So He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
  4. Then Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, nor is this the city; follow me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." And he brought them to Samaria.
  5. When they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, "O LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see." So the LORD opened their eyes and they saw; and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
  1. 이스라엘 왕은 시리아군을 보고 엘리사에게 '내가 이들을 죽일까요?' 하고 물어 보았다.
  2. 그러자 엘리사가 '그건 안 됩니다. 칼과 활로 생포한 전쟁 포로도 아닌데 어떻게 죽일 수 있겠습니까? 음식을 주어 먹고 마시게 한 다음 그들의 왕에게 돌려보내십시오.' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그래서 왕이 그들을 위해 큰 잔치를 베풀자 그들은 실컷 먹고 마신 다음 자기들의 왕에게 돌아갔다. 그 이후로 얼마 동안 시리아군은 이스라엘을 침략하지 않았다.
  1. Then the king of Israel when he saw them, said to Elisha, "My father, shall I kill them? Shall I kill them?"
  2. He answered, "You shall not kill them. Would you kill those you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master."
  3. So he prepared a great feast for them; and when they had eaten and drunk he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the marauding bands of Arameans did not come again into the land of Israel.
