느헤미야 8:13-9:38

 백성의 지도자들이 에스라를 찾아와 율법을 배우던 중, 율법 책에 기록된 초막절의 규례를 보게 되었다. 그리하여 온 백성들이 그 규례를 지켰다. 초막절을 시행한 후 에스라는 기쁨으로 날마다 율법을 낭독하였고, 이스라엘 백성들은 자신과 조상들의 죄를 자복하며 하나님께 경배하였다.
  
  초막절 준수(8:13-8:18)    
 
  1. 그 다음 날 족장들과 제사장들과 레위인들이 율법의 말씀을 더 자세히 알기 위해 에스라를 찾아갔다.
  2. 그들은 율법책을 보다가 여호와께서 모세를 통해 이스라엘 백성에게 7월의 초막절 기간에는 초막에서 지내라고 명령하신 것을 알게 되었다.
  3. 그래서 그들은 예루살렘과 다른 모든 성에 이렇게 공고하였다. '여러분은 산으로 가서 감람나무, 도금양, 종려나무, 그 밖에 잎이 무성한 나무가지를 꺾어 율법책에 기록된 대로 초막을 지으시오.'
  4. 그러자 백성들은 가서 나뭇가지를 꺾어와 옥상이나 마당, 성전 뜰, 수문 옆 광장 또는 에브라임문 곁의 광장에 초막을 지었다.
  5. 이와 같이 포로로 잡혀갔다가 돌아온 모든 사람들이 초막을 짓고 그 안에서 지냈는데 눈의 아들 여호수아 시대 이후로 초막절을 이처럼 성대하게 지킨 적이 없었으므로 모든 백성들이 크게 기뻐하고 즐거워하였다.
  1. Then on the second day the heads of fathers' households of all the people, the priests and the Levites were gathered to Ezra the scribe that they might gain insight into the words of the law.
  2. They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded through Moses that the sons of Israel should live in booths during the feast of the seventh month.
  3. So they proclaimed and circulated a proclamation in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, "Go out to the hills, and bring olive branches and wild olive branches, myrtle branches, palm branches and branches of other leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written."
  4. So the people went out and brought them and made booths for themselves, each on his roof, and in their courts and in the courts of the house of God, and in the square at the Water Gate and in the square at the Gate of Ephraim.
  5. The entire assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in them. The sons of Israel had indeed not done so from the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day And there was great rejoicing.
  1. 에스라는 이 명절 7일 동안 매일 율법책을 낭독하였으며 8일째 되는 날에는 모세의 율법에 규정된 대로 모두 한자리에 모여 엄숙하게 폐회 예배를 드렸다.
  1. He read from the book of the law of God daily, from the first day to the last day And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.
 
  백성들의 죄 고백(9:1-9:38)    
 
  1. 그 달 24일에 이스라엘 백성들은 다시 모여 금식하며 삼베 옷을 입고 머리에 티끌을 뒤집어쓰고
  2. 모든 이방 사람들과의 관계를 끊은 채 자기들의 죄와 조상들의 죄를 고백하였다.
  3. 그들은 그대로 서서 3시간 동안 낭독하는 여호와의 율법의 말씀을 듣고 그 다음 3시간 동안은 자기들의 죄를 고백하며 그들의 하나님 여호와께 경배하였다.
  4. 이때 레위 사람 여수아, 바니, 갓미엘, 스바냐, 분니, 세레뱌, 또 다른 바니, 그리고 그나니는 단상에 서서 여호와께 큰 소리로 부르짖고 기도하였으며
  5. 또 레위 사람 예수아, 갓미엘, 바니, 하삽느야, 세레뱌, 호디야, 스바냐, 브다히야는 백성들을 향해 이렇게 외쳤다. '자, 일어나 영원히 계시는 우리 하나님 여호와를 찬양합시다!' 그러자 에스라는 이렇게 기도하였다. '주의 영광스러운 이름을 찬양합니다. 주의 이름은 인간의 언어로 표현할 수 없을 만큼 위대합니다.
  1. Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them.
  2. The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.
  3. While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the LORD their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God.
  4. Now on the Levites' platform stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Chenani, and they cried with a loud voice to the LORD their God.
  5. Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah, said, "Arise, bless the LORD your God forever and ever! O may Your glorious name be blessed And exalted above all blessing and praise!
  1. 주는 유일하신 여호와이시며 하늘과 별, 그리고 땅과 바다와 그 가운데 있는 모든 것을 지으시고 생명을 주시므로 수많은 하늘의 천사들이 주께 경배를 드립니다.
  2. 주는 아브람을 택하시고 그를 갈대아 우르에서 인도해 내어 그에게 아브라함이란 이름을 주신 여호와 하나님이십니다.
  3. 주께서는 그가 주 앞에서 신실한 것을 보시고 그와 계약을 맺어 가나안족, 헷족, 아모리족, 브리스족, 여부스족, 기르가스족의 땅을 그의 후손들에게 주시겠다고 말씀하시고 그 약속을 지키셨으니 참으로 주는 의로우신 분이십니다.
  4. 주는 우리 조상들이 이집트에서 고통당하는 것을 보시고 홍해에서 그들이 부르짖는 소리를 들으셨습니다.
  5. 주께서 놀라운 기적을 행하여 바로와 그 신하들과 그 땅 백성들을 치신 것은 그들이 주의 백성을 잔인하게 학대한 것을 주께서 아셨기 때문이었습니다. 그 일로 주께서는 오늘날까지도 잊혀질 수 없는 명성을 얻으셨습니다.
  1. "You alone are the LORD You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You.
  2. "You are the LORD God, Who chose Abram And brought him out from Ur of the Chaldees, And gave him the name Abraham.
  3. "You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give him the land of the Canaanite, Of the Hittite and the Amorite, Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite and the Girgashite-- To give it to his descendants And You have fulfilled Your promise, For You are righteous.
  4. "You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, And heard their cry by the Red Sea.
  5. "Then You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, Against all his servants and all the people of his land; For You knew that they acted arrogantly toward them, And made a name for Yourself as it is this day.
  1. 주는 우리 조상들 앞에서 바다를 갈라 주의 백성이 마른 땅을 밟고 그 가운데로 지나가게 하셨으며 그들을 추격하는 원수들을 깊은 물에 돌을 던지듯이 바다에 던지셨습니다.
  2. 그리고 낮에는 그들을 구름 기둥으로 인도하시고 밤에는 불 기둥으로 그들이 갈 길을 비춰 주셨으며
  3. 시내산에 내려오셔서 주의 백성과 말씀하시고 훌륭한 주의 법과 규정을 주셨습니다.
  4. 또 주께서는 그들에게 안식일을 거룩하게 지키라고 가르치시고 주의 종 모세를 통해 그 모든 것을 지키라고 명령하셨습니다.
  5. 그들이 굶주릴 때 주께서는 하늘에서 양식을 주시고 그들이 목마를 때 바위에서 물을 내어 그들을 먹이셨으며 또 그들에게 주시겠다고 약속하신 땅에 들어가 그것을 차지하라고 말씀하셨습니다.
  1. "You divided the sea before them, So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground; And their pursuers You hurled into the depths, Like a stone into raging waters.
  2. "And with a pillar of cloud You led them by day, And with a pillar of fire by night To light for them the way In which they were to go.
  3. "Then You came down on Mount Sinai, And spoke with them from heaven; You gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments.
  4. "So You made known to them Your holy sabbath, And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law, Through Your servant Moses.
  5. "You provided bread from heaven for them for their hunger, You brought forth water from a rock for them for their thirst, And You told them to enter in order to possess The land which You swore to give them.
  1. 그러나 우리 조상들은 교만하여 고집을 피우고 주의 명령에 순종하지 않았습니다.
  2. 그들은 거역하며 주께서 그들 가운데 행하신 놀라운 일을 잊어버리고 자기들 멋대로 한 지도자를 세워 종살이하던 이집트로 되돌아가려고 하였습니다. 그렇지만 주는 용서하시고 은혜를 베푸시며 불쌍히 여기시고 쉽게 화를 내시지 않는 사랑의 하나님이시므로 그들을 버리지 않으셨습니다.
  3. 그들이 송아지 우상을 만들고 그것이 자기들을 이집트에서 인도해 낸 신이라고 외치며 주를 모독했을 때에도
  4. 주는 크게 자비를 베푸셔서 그들을 광야에 버리지 않으시고 낮에는 구름 기둥으로 그들을 인도하셨으며 밤에는 불 기둥으로 그들의 갈길을 비춰 주셨습니다.
  5. 또 주께서는 성령으로 그들을 가르치시고 끊임없이 만나를 주시며 목마를 때 마실 물을 주셔서
  1. "But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.
  2. "They refused to listen, And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You had performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt But You are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness; And You did not forsake them.
  3. "Even when they made for themselves A calf of molten metal And said, 'This is your God Who brought you up from Egypt,' And committed great blasphemies,
  4. You, in Your great compassion, Did not forsake them in the wilderness; The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, To guide them on their way, Nor the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go.
  5. "You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, Your manna You did not withhold from their mouth, And You gave them water for their thirst.
  1. 그들이 40년을 광야에서 지내는 동안 아무것도 부족한 것이 없게 하셨으므로 그들은 떨어진 옷을 입지 않았고 신발이 없어 발이 부르트지도 않았습니다.
  2. 그때 주께서 많은 나라와 민족을 정복할 수 있도록 하셨으므로 그들은 시혼왕이 다스린 헤스본과 옥왕이 다스린 바산 땅을 점령하였습니다.
  3. 주께서는 그들에게 하늘의 별처럼 많은 자손을 주시고 그 조상들에게 차지하라고 말씀하신 땅으로 그들을 인도하여
  4. 그들이 들어가서 가나안 땅을 정복할 수 있게 하셨습니다. 그러므로 그들은 가나안의 모든 왕들과 백성들을 자기들 마음대로 하며
  5. 그들의 요새화된 성들을 점령하고 기름진 땅과 온갖 좋은 물건을 가득 채운 그들의 집들과 이미 파 놓은 우물, 그리고 포도원과 감람원과 많은 과수원을 빼앗아 배불리 먹고 마시며 주께서 주신 복을 마음껏 즐겼습니다.
  1. "Indeed, forty years You provided for them in the wilderness and they were not in want; Their clothes did not wear out, nor did their feet swell.
  2. "You also gave them kingdoms and peoples, And allotted them to them as a boundary. They took possession of the land of Sihon the king of Heshbon And the land of Og the king of Bashan.
  3. "You made their sons numerous as the stars of heaven, And You brought them into the land Which You had told their fathers to enter and possess.
  4. "So their sons entered and possessed the land And You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, And You gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land, To do with them as they desired.
  5. "They captured fortified cities and a fertile land They took possession of houses full of every good thing, Hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive groves, Fruit trees in abundance So they ate, were filled and grew fat, And reveled in Your great goodness.
  1. 그러나 그들은 주께 불순종하고 거역하며 주의 법을 저버리고 주께 돌아오라고 외치는 예언자들을 죽여 주를 모독하였습니다.
  2. 그러므로 주께서 그들을 원수들의 손에 넘겨 고통을 당하게 하셨습니다. 그러나 그들이 환난 중에서 주께 부르짖자 주는 하늘에서 들으시고 그들에게 큰 자비를 베푸셔서 지도자들을 보내 그들을 원수들의 손에서 구출해 주셨습니다.
  3. 그런데도 그들은 평안을 누리게 되자 다시 범죄하였습니다. 그래서 주께서는 그들을 버려 원수들의 지배를 받게 하셨습니다. 그렇지만 그들이 다시 부르짖을 때 주는 하늘에서 들으시고 자비를 베푸셔서 그들을 여러 차례 구출해 내셨습니다.
  4. 주는 그들에게 주의 법에 순종하라고 경고하셨지만 그들은 교만하여 사람이 지키기만 하면 생명을 얻는 주의 법을 거절하고 주의 명령에 불순종하며 고집을 피우고 주의 말씀을 듣지 않았습니다.
  5. 주께서는 여러 해동안 참으시고 주의 예언자들을 통해 성령으로 그들을 경고하셨으나 그들이 듣지 않으므로 그들을 이방 민족의 손에 넘겨 주셨습니다.
  1. "But they became disobedient and rebelled against You, And cast Your law behind their backs And killed Your prophets who had admonished them So that they might return to You, And they committed great blasphemies.
  2. "Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their oppressors who oppressed them, But when they cried to You in the time of their distress, You heard from heaven, and according to Your great compassion You gave them deliverers who delivered them from the hand of their oppressors.
  3. "But as soon as they had rest, they did evil again before You; Therefore You abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them When they cried again to You, You heard from heaven, And many times You rescued them according to Your compassion,
  4. And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your law Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances, By which if a man observes them he shall live And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.
  5. "However, You bore with them for many years, And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, Yet they would not give ear. Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.
  1. 그러나 주는 자비로우신 하나님이시므로 그들을 완전히 멸망시키거나 버리지 않으셨으니 주의 크신 은혜와 사랑이었습니다!
  2. 우리 하나님이시여, 주는 위대하시며 능력이 많으시고 두려운 분이시며 사랑의 계약을 지키시는 신실하신 하나님이십니다. 앗시리아 왕들이 우리를 괴롭힌 때부터 우리 왕들과 지도자들과 제사장들, 그리고 예언자들과 우리 조상들과 주의 모든 백성들이 지금까지 당한 고통을 작은 것으로 여기지 마소서.
  3. 그러나 주는 우리를 벌하시는 데 공정하셨습니다. 우리가 크게 범죄하였으므로 우리가 당연히 받아야 할 벌을 주셨습니다.
  4. 우리 조상들과 우리 왕들과 지도자들과 제사장들이 주의 법을 지키지 않고 주의 명령과 경고를 듣지 않았으며
  5. 그들이 주께서 주신 넓고 기름진 땅에서 주의 축복을 마음껏 누리면서도 주를 섬기지 않았으며 악한 길에서 돌아서지 않았습니다.
  1. "Nevertheless, in Your great compassion You did not make an end of them or forsake them, For You are a gracious and compassionate God.
  2. "Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and lovingkindness, Do not let all the hardship seem insignificant before You, Which has come upon us, our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our fathers and on all Your people, From the days of the kings of Assyria to this day.
  3. "However, You are just in all that has come upon us; For You have dealt faithfully, but we have acted wickedly.
  4. "For our kings, our leaders, our priests and our fathers have not kept Your law Or paid attention to Your commandments and Your admonitions with which You have admonished them.
  5. "But they, in their own kingdom, With Your great goodness which You gave them, With the broad and rich land which You set before them, Did not serve You or turn from their evil deeds.
  1. 그러므로 주께서 우리 조상들에게 주셔서 과실과 다른 좋은 산물을 먹게 하신 이 기름진 땅에서 우리가 이와 같이 종이 되었습니다.
  2. 우리가 지은 죄 때문에 주께서 우리를 다스리게 하신 이방 왕들이 이 땅에 농산물을 먹고 우리와 우리 가축을 마음대로 하고 있으니 우리의 고통은 이루 말할 수 없습니다.
  3. 우리는 이 모든 일을 생각하며 다시 주를 섬기기로 합의하고 성명서를 작성하여 여기에 우리 지도자들과 레위인들과 제사장들이 서명을 합니다.'
  1. "Behold, we are slaves today, And as to the land which You gave to our fathers to eat of its fruit and its bounty, Behold, we are slaves in it.
  2. "Its abundant produce is for the kings Whom You have set over us because of our sins; They also rule over our bodies And over our cattle as they please, So we are in great distress.
  3. "Now because of all this We are making an agreement in writing; And on the sealed document are the names of our leaders, our Levites and our priests."
