- The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
- A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

- 여간 채소를 먹으며 서로 사랑하는 것이 살진 소를 먹으며 서로 미워하는 것보다 나으니라
- 분을 쉽게 내는 자는 다툼을 일으켜도 노하기를 더디 하는 자는 시비를 그치게 하느니라
- 게으른 자의 길은 가시울타리 같으나 정직한 자의 길은 대로니라
- 지혜로운 아들은 아비를 즐겁게 하여도 미련한 자는 어미를 업신여기느니라
