창세기

  본서는 성경의 전체적 배경을 제공해 주는 시작의 책으로 주전 1440년 경 모세에 의해 기록된 것으로 믿어지고 있다. 본서는 모든 만물의 기원이 하나님의 창조에서 비롯되었으며 특히 인간은 하나님의 형상을 따라 창조되었으나 하나님의 뜻을 거역하여 타락했고 이에 하나님께서는 타락한 인간을 구원하시기 위한 구원의 역사를 펼쳐나가고 계시다는 것을 보여주기 위해 기록되었다.

 

 

창세기 1:1-2:25

 하나님께서 말씀으로 천지 만물을 엿새 동안 창조하시고 제7일째는 안식하셨다. 하나님께서는 특별히 인간을 흙으로 지으시고 에덴 동산을 만들어 그 곳에서 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 실과를 제외한 모든 실과를 먹으며 살게 하셨다. 그리고 아담의 갈빗대를 취하여 돕는 배필, 즉 여자를 만드셨다.
  
  천지창조(1:1-2:3)    
 
  1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
  2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
  3. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
  4. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
  5. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
  1. 한처음에 하느님께서 하늘과 땅을 지어내셨다.
  2. 땅은 아직 모양을 갖추지 않고 아무것도 생기지 않았는데, 어둠이 깊은 물 위에 뒤덮여 있었고 그 물 위에 하느님의 기운이 휘돌고 있었다.
  3. 하느님께서 "빛이 생겨라!" 하시자 빛이 생겨났다.
  4. 그 빛이 하느님 보시기에 좋았다. 하느님께서는 빛과 어둠을 나누시고
  5. 빛을 낮이라, 어둠을 밤이라 부르셨다. 이렇게 첫날이 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
  1. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
  2. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
  3. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
  4. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
  5. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
  1. 하느님께서 "물 한가운데 창공이 생겨 물과 물 사이가 갈라져라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  2. 하느님께서는 이렇게 창공을 만들어 창공 아래 있는 물과 창공 위에 있는 물을 갈라놓으셨다.
  3. 하느님께서 그 창공을 하늘이라 부르셨다. 이렇게 이튿날도 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
  4. 하느님께서 "하늘 아래 있는 물이 한 곳으로 모여, 마른 땅이 드러나라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  5. 하느님께서는 마른 땅을 뭍이라, 물이 모인 곳을 바다라 부르셨다. 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다.
  1. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
  2. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
  3. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
  4. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
  5. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
  1. 하느님께서 "땅에서 푸른 움이 돋아나라! 땅 위에 낟알을 내는 풀과 씨 있는 온갖 과일 나무가 돋아나라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  2. 이리하여 땅에는 푸른 움이 돋아났다. 낟알을 내는 온갖 풀과 씨 있는 온갖 과일 나무가 돋아났다. 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다.
  3. 이렇게 사흗날도 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
  4. 하느님께서 "하늘 창공에 빛나는 것들이 생겨 밤과 낮을 갈라놓고 절기와 나날과 해를 나타내는 표가 되어라!
  5. 또 하늘 창공에서 땅을 환히 비추어라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  1. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
  2. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
  3. And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
  4. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
  5. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
  1. 하느님께서는 이렇게 만드신 두 큰 빛 가운데서 더 큰 빛은 낮을 다스리게 하시고 작은 빛은 밤을 다스리게 하셨다. 또 별들도 만드셨다.
  2. 하느님께서는 이 빛나는 것들을 하늘 창공에 걸어놓고 땅을 비추게 하셨다.
  3. 이리하여 밝음과 어둠을 갈라놓으시고 낮과 밤을 다스리게 하셨다. 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다.
  4. 이렇게 나흗날도 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
  5. 하느님께서 "바다에는 고기가 생겨 우글거리고 땅 위 하늘 창공 아래에는 새들이 생겨 날아다녀라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  1. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
  2. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
  3. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
  4. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
  5. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
  1. 이리하여 하느님께서는 큰 물고기와 물 속에서 우글거리는 온갖 고기와 날아다니는 온갖 새들을 지어내셨다. 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다.
  2. 하느님께서 이것들에게 복을 내려주시며 말씀하셨다. "새끼를 많이 낳아 바닷물 속에 가득히 번성하여라. 새도 땅 위에 번성하여라!"
  3. 이렇게 닷샛날도 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
  4. 하느님께서 "땅은 온갖 동물을 내어라! 온갖 집짐승과 길짐승과 들짐승을 내어라!" 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  5. 하느님께서는 이렇게 온갖 들짐승과 집짐승과 땅 위를 기어 다니는 길짐승을 만드셨다. 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다.
  1. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  2. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
  3. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
  4. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
  5. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
  1. 하느님께서는 "우리 모습을 닮은 사람을 만들자! 그래서 바다의 고기와 공중의 새, 또 집짐승과 모든 들짐승과 땅 위를 기어 다니는 모든 길짐승을 다스리게 하자!" 하시고,
  2. 당신의 모습대로 사람을 지어내셨다. 하느님의 모습대로 사람을 지어내시되 남자와 여자로 지어내시고
  3. 하느님께서는 그들에게 복을 내려주시며 말씀하셨다. "자식을 낳고 번성하여 온 땅에 퍼져서 땅을 정복하여라. 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 땅 위를 돌아다니는 모든 짐승을 부려라!"
  4. 하느님께서 다시, "이제 내가 너희에게 온 땅 위에서 낟알을 내는 풀과 씨가 든 과일 나무를 준다. 너희는 이것을 양식으로 삼아라.
  5. 모든 들짐승과 공중의 모든 새와 땅 위를 기어 다니는 모든 생물에게도 온갖 푸른 풀을 먹이로 준다." 하시자 그대로 되었다.
  1. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
  1. 이렇게 만드신 모든 것을 하느님께서 보시니 참 좋았다. 엿샛날도 밤, 낮 하루가 지났다.
 
 
  1. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
  2. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
  3. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
  1. 이리하여 하늘과 땅과 그 가운데 있는 모든 것이 다 이루어졌다.
  2. 하느님께서는 엿샛날까지 하시던 일을 다 마치시고, 이렛날에는 모든 일에서 손을 떼고 쉬셨다.
  3. 이렇게 하느님께서는 모든 것을 새로 지으시고 이렛날에는 쉬시고 이 날을 거룩한 날로 정하시어 복을 주셨다.
 
  아담과 하와(2:4-2:25)    
 
  1. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
  2. And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
  3. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
  4. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
  5. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
  1. 하늘과 땅을 지어내신 순서는 위와 같았다.
  2. 땅에는 아직 아무 나무도 없었고, 풀도 돋아나지 않았다. 야훼 하느님께서 아직 땅에 비를 내리지 않으셨고 땅을 갈 사람도 아직 없었던 것이다.
  3. 마침 땅에서 물이 솟아 온 땅을 적시자
  4. 야훼 하느님께서 진흙으로 사람을 빚어 만드시고 코에 입김을 불어넣으시니, 사람이 되어 숨을 쉬었다.
  5. 야훼 하느님께서는 동쪽에 있는 에덴이라는 곳에 동산을 마련하시고 당신께서 빚어 만드신 사람을 그리로 데려다가 살게 하셨다.
  1. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
  2. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
  3. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
  4. And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
  5. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
  1. 야훼 하느님께서는 보기 좋고 맛있는 열매를 맺는 온갖 나무를 그 땅에서 돋아나게 하셨다. 또 그 동산 한가운데는 생명나무와 선과 악을 알게 하는 나무도 돋아나게 하셨다.
  2. 에덴에서 강 하나가 흘러 나와 그 동산을 적신 다음 네 줄기로 갈라졌다.
  3. 첫째 강줄기의 이름은 비손이라 하는데, 은과 금이 나는 하윌라 땅을 돌아 흐르고 있었다.
  4. 그 땅은 좋은 금뿐 아니라 브돌라라는 향료와 홍옥수 같은 보석이 나는 곳이었다.
  5. 둘째 강줄기의 이름은 기혼이라 하는데, 구스 온 땅을 돌아 흐르고 있었다.
  1. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
  2. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
  3. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
  4. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
  5. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
  1. 셋째 강줄기의 이름은 티그리스라 하는데, 아시리아 동쪽으로 흐르고 있었고, 넷째 강줄기의 이름은 유프라테스라고 하였다.
  2. 야훼 하느님께서 아담을 데려다가 에덴에 있는 이 동산을 돌보게 하시며
  3. 이렇게 이르셨다. "이 동산에 있는 나무 열매는 무엇이든지 마음대로 따먹어라.
  4. 그러나 선과 악을 알게 하는 나무 열매만은 따먹지 마라. 그것을 따먹는 날, 너는 반드시 죽는다."
  5. 야훼 하느님께서는 "아담이 혼자 있는 것이 좋지 않으니, 그의 일을 거들 짝을 만들어주리라." 하시고,
  1. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
  2. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
  3. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
  4. And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
  5. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
  1. 들짐승과 공중의 새를 하나하나 진흙으로 빚어 만드시고, 아담에게 데려다 주시고는 그가 무슨 이름을 붙이는가 보고 계셨다. 아담이 동물 하나하나에게 붙여준 것이 그대로 그 동물의 이름이 되었다.
  2. 이렇게 아담은 집짐승과 공중의 새와 들짐승의 이름을 붙여주었지만 그 가운데는 그의 일을 거들 짝이 보이지 않았다.
  3. 그래서 야훼 하느님께서 아담을 깊이 잠들게 하신 다음, 아담의 갈빗대를 하나 뽑고 그 자리를 살로 메우시고는
  4. 그 갈빗대로 여자를 만드신 다음, 아담에게 데려오시자
  5. 아담은 이렇게 외쳤다. "드디어 나타났구나! 내 뼈에서 나온 뼈요, 내 살에서 나온 살이로구나. 지아비에게서 나왔으니 지어미라고 부르리라!"
  1. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
  2. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
  1. 이리하여 남자는 어버이를 떠나 아내와 어울려 한 몸이 되게 되었다.
  2. 아담 내외는 알몸이면서도 서로 부끄러운 줄을 몰랐다.
 
  궁창(穹蒼, 1:6)  ‘두들겨 넓게 펼친 판’이라는 의미로 대기권의 하늘을 가리킴
