창세기 39:1-40:23

 애굽의 시위 대장 보디발의 집에 팔려 간 요셉은 하나님께서 함께하심으로 그 집의 가정 총무가 되었다. 요셉의 준수함을 본 보디발의 아내가 요셉을 유혹했으나, 하나님을 경외하는 요셉은 그 유혹을 거절하였다. 그 결과 그녀의 진노를 사게 된 요셉은 중죄수를 다루는 감옥에 갇히게 되었다. 그 곳에서 요셉은 술 관원장과 떡 관원장의 꿈을 풀어 주었다. 그러나 요셉이 해몽한 대로 감옥에서 풀려나 복직된 술 관원장은 요셉의 공로를 잊어버리고 말았다.
  
  보디발의 집에서의 요셉(39:1-39:23)    
 
  1. And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
  2. And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
  3. And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
  4. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
  5. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
  1. 요셉은 이집트로 끌려 내려갔다. 그를 끌고 내려온 이스마엘 사람에게서 파라오의 한 신하인 경호대장 이집트 사람 보디발이 그를 샀다.
  2. 그러나 요셉은 야훼께서 돌보아 주셨으므로 앞길이 열려 이집트 사람 주인집의 한 식구처럼 되었다.
  3. 주인은 야훼께서 그를 돌보아 주시는 것을 알았다. 그의 손이 닿는 것은 무엇이든지 야훼께서 잘되게 해주셨던 것이다.
  4. 그는 요셉이 눈에 들어 심복으로 삼고 집안 일의 관리인으로 세워 그에게 모든 것을 맡겼다.
  5. 온갖 일과 모든 소유를 그에게 맡기자 야훼께서는 요셉을 보아 그 이집트 사람의 집에 복을 내리셨다. 야훼의 복은 집과 밭뿐 아니라 그에게 있는 모든 것 위에 내렸다.
  1. And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
  2. And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
  3. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
  4. There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
  5. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
  1. 이렇듯이 그는 자기에게 있는 모든 것을 요셉의 손에 내맡겼다. 그리고 그가 있는 한, 자신이 먹는 음식을 빼놓고는 아무것에도 마음을 쓰지 않았다. 그런데 요셉은 아주 깨끗하고 잘생긴 사나이여서
  2. 얼마쯤 시간이 흐르자 주인의 아내가 눈짓을 하며 자기 침실로 가자고 꾀는 것이었다.
  3. 그는 주인의 아내에게 그럴 수 없다고 사정했다. "보시다시피 주인께서는 제가 있는 한, 집안 일에 통 마음을 쓰시지 않습니다. 당신께 있는 것을 모두 제 손에 맡겨주셨습니다.
  4. 이 집안에선 제가 그분보다 실권이 더 있습니다. 마님만은 당신의 아내이기 때문에 범접할 수 없지만 그 밖의 일은 못할 것이 없습니다. 그런데 이렇게 엄청난 짓을 제가 어떻게 저지를 수 있겠습니까? 이것은 하느님께 죄가 됩니다."
  5. 그러나 그는 날이면 날마다 요셉에게 수작을 걸어왔다. 요셉은 말을 듣지 않고 그와 함께 침실에 들지도 않았다.
  1. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
  2. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
  3. And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,
  4. That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
  5. And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
  1. 하루는 그가 일을 보러 집 안으로 들어갔는데 마침 집 안에 사람이라곤 아무도 없었다.
  2. 그는 요셉의 옷을 붙잡고 침실로 같이 가자고 꾀었다. 그러나 요셉은 옷을 그의 손에 잡힌 채 뿌리치고 밖으로 뛰쳐나갔다.
  3. 요셉이 옷을 자기 손에 내버려둔 채 밖으로 뛰쳐나가는 것을 보고
  4. 그는 집안 사람들을 부르며 고함을 쳤다. "이것 좀 봐라. 주인께서 우리를 웃음거리로 만들려고 저 히브리 녀석을 데려왔구나. 그 놈이 나에게 달려들어 강간하려고 했다. 그래서 내가 고함을 질렀지!
  5. 그랬더니 그 놈은 내가 고함지르는 소리를 듣고 옷을 버려둔 채 뛰쳐나갔다."
  1. And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
  2. And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:
  3. And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.
  4. And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.
  5. And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
  1. 그리고는 그 옷을 곁에 챙겨놓고 주인을 기다리다가, 그가 집에 돌아오자
  2. 이야기를 꺼내는 것이었다. "당신이 데려온 그 히브리 종 녀석 말이어요. 글쎄 그 놈이 내 방에 들어와 나를 농락하려 하지 않겠어요?
  3. 그래서 내가 고함을 질렀더니 이렇게 옷을 버려둔 채 밖으로 뛰쳐나갔답니다."
  4. 그리고는 "당신의 종 녀석이 나에게 이 따위 짓을 했단 말이어요." 하고 말하는 것이었다. 이 말을 듣고 주인은 화가 치밀어 올랐다.
  5. 그래서 요셉의 주인은 그를 잡아 감옥에 넣었다. 그 곳은 왕의 죄수들을 가두어두는 곳이었다. 그러나 그가 감옥에 있을 때에도
  1. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
  2. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
  3. The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
  1. 야훼께서는 요셉을 돌보셨다. 그에게 한결같은 사랑을 쏟으시고 은총을 베푸시어 간수장의 눈에 들게 해주셨다.
  2. 그리하여 간수장은 감옥에 있는 모든 죄수들을 요셉의 손에 맡겨 무슨 일이고 마음대로 하게 하였다.
  3. 간수장은 요셉에게 모든 일을 맡겨놓고는 일절 간섭을 하지 않았다. 야훼께서 그를 돌보시어 그가 하기만 하면 무엇이든지 잘되게 해주셨던 것이다.
 
  요셉의 해몽(40:1-40:23)    
 
  1. And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
  2. And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
  3. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
  4. And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.
  5. And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
  1. 이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 되지 않아 이집트 왕에게 술잔을 드리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장이 상전인 이집트 왕에게 무슨 잘못을 저지른 일이 생겼다.
  2. 파라오는 술잔을 드리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장, 두 사람에게 화가 나서
  3. 경호대장 집에 있는 감옥에 집어넣었다. 그 곳은 바로 요셉이 갇혀 있는 곳이었다.
  4. 경호대장은 요셉을 지명하여 그 시종들의 시중을 들게 하였다. 그들이 감옥에 들어온 지 여러 날이 지났다.
  5. 이집트 왕에게 술잔을 드리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장은 어느 날 밤, 감옥에 갇힌 몸으로 같이 꿈을 꾸었는데 두 꿈은 뜻이 너무나 달랐다.
  1. And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
  2. And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?
  3. And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
  4. And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
  5. And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
  1. 아침에 요셉이 그들에게 가보니 그들은 크게 근심하고 있었다.
  2. 요셉은 자기 주인 집 감옥에 함께 갇혀 있는 그들 파라오의 관리들에게 물었다. "오늘은 안색이 좋지들 못하시군요. 왜 그러십니까?"
  3. 그들이 대답하였다. "우리가 꿈을 꾸었는데 아무도 풀어줄 사람이 없소." 요셉은 "꿈을 푸는 것은 하느님만이 하실 수 있는 일이 아니겠습니까?" 하고 말하면서 자기에게 이야기해 달라고 청하였다.
  4. 술잔을 드리는 시종장이 요셉에게 자기의 꿈 이야기를 들려주었다. "내가 꿈에 보니까, 내 앞에 포도나무 한 그루가 있었소.
  5. 그 포도나무에는 가지가 셋이 뻗어 있었는데 싹이 나자마자 꽃들이 피고 포도송이가 익더군.
  1. And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
  2. And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:
  3. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
  4. But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
  5. For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
  1. 내 손에는 파라오의 잔이 들려 있었소. 나는 포도를 따서 그 잔에다 짜 넣고는 그 잔을 파라오의 손에 받쳐드렸소."
  2. "그 풀이는 이렇습니다." 하며 요셉은 그에게 말해 주었다. "가지 셋은 사흘을 말하는 것입니다.
  3. 앞으로 사흘이 되면 파라오께서는 당신을 불러내어 복직시킬 것입니다. 당신은 전날 술잔을 받들어 올리던 관습대로 파라오의 손에 그의 잔을 올리게 될 것입니다.
  4. 그러니 제발 당신이 잘되시는 날 나를 생각해 주십시오. 나에게 친절을 좀 베풀어주셔야 하겠습니다. 파라오에게 내 이야기를 하여 이 집에서 벗어나게 해주십시오.
  5. 나는 억울하게 히브리 사람들의 땅에서 유괴되어 온 사람입니다. 나는 여기서도 이런 구덩이에 들어올 만한 일을 한 일이 없습니다."
  1. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
  2. And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
  3. And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
  4. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
  5. And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
  1. 그 풀이가 좋은 것을 보고 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장도 요셉에게 이야기를 했다. "나도 꿈을 꾸었는데 흰 과자를 담은 바구니 셋을 내가 머리에 얹고 있었소.
  2. 제일 위 바구니엔 파라오에게 드릴 온갖 구운 음식들이 담겨져 있었소. 그런데 새들이 내 머리에 이고 있는 그 바구니 속에서 그것들을 먹고 있더군."
  3. "그 풀이는 이렇습니다." 하며 요셉이 말해 주었다. "바구니 셋은 사흘을 말하는 것입니다.
  4. 앞으로 사흘이 되면 파라오는 당신을 불러내어 나무에 매달 것입니다. 그렇게 되면 당신의 고기를 새들이 쪼아먹게 될 것입니다."
  5. 그리고 사흘째 되는 날, 그 날은 파라오의 생일이어서 왕은 신하들을 다 모아놓고 잔치를 베풀었다. 술잔을 드리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장은 신하들이 모인 자리에 불려 나왔다.
  1. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:
  2. But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
  3. Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
  1. 그런데 술잔을 드리는 시종장은 술잔을 드리는 자리에 복직되어 파라오의 손에 잔을 올리게 되었으나,
  2. 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장은 매달려 죽었다. 이렇게 그들은 요셉이 해몽해 준 대로 되었다.
  3. 그러나 술잔을 드리는 시종장은 요셉을 까마득하게 잊어버렸다.
 
  득의(得意, 40:14)  일이 잘됨
