마태복음 21:12-21:32

 예수께서 성전을 청결하시고 어린아이들의 찬미를 받으셨다. 다음날 아침, 예수께서 성에 들어오시는 길에 무화과나무에서 열매를 얻지 못하시자 나무를 저주하셨다. 예수님의 권위에 대해 묻는 대제사장과 장로들의 질문에, 예수님은 대답하는 대신 두 아들의 비유를 통해서 그들의 믿음 없음을 책망하셨다.
  
  성전 청결(21:12-21:22)    
 
  1. And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
  2. And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
  3. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
  4. And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,
  5. And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
  1. 예수께서는 성전 뜰 안으로 들어가 거기에서 팔고 사고 하는 사람들을 다 쫓아내시고 환금상들의 탁자와 비둘기 장수들의 의자를 둘러엎으셨다.
  2. 그리고 그들에게 "성서에 '내 집은 기도하는 집이라고 불리리라.' 했는데 너희는 이 집을 '강도의 소굴'로 만들었다." 하고 나무라셨다.
  3. 그 때 예수께서는 성전 뜰 안에 있던 소경들과 절름발이들이 앞으로 나오자 그들을 모두 고쳐주셨다.
  4. 대사제들과 율법학자들은 예수께서 행하신 여러 가지 놀라운 일이며 성전 뜰에서 "호산나! 다윗의 자손!" 하고 외치는 아이들을 보고 화가 치밀어서
  5. 예수께 "이 아이들이 하는 말이 들립니까?" 하고 물었다. 예수께서는 그들에게 "들린다. '주께서 어린이들과 젖먹이들의 입으로 주를 찬양하게 하시리라.' 하신 말씀을 읽어본 일이 없느냐?" 하고 대답하셨다.
  1. And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
  2. Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
  3. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
  4. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
  5. Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
  1. 그리고 예수께서는 그들을 떠나 성밖에 있는 베다니아로 가셔서 밤을 지내셨다.
  2. 이튿날 아침에 예수께서 성안으로 들어오시다가 마침 시장하시던 참에
  3. 길가에 무화과나무 한 그루가 서 있는 것을 보시고 그리로 가셨다. 그러나 잎사귀밖에는 아무것도 보이지 않았으므로 그 나무를 향하여 "이제부터 너는 영원히 열매를 맺지 못하리라." 하고 말씀하셨다. 그러자 무화과나무는 곧 말라버렸다.
  4. 제자들이 이것을 보고 놀라서 "무화과나무가 어찌하여 그렇게 당장 말라버렸습니까?" 하고 물었다.
  5. 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나는 분명히 말한다. 너희가 의심하지 않고 믿는다면 이 무화과나무에서 본 일을 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 이 산더러 '번쩍 들려서 바다에 빠져라.' 하더라도 그대로 될 것이다.
  1. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
  1. 또 너희가 기도할 때에 믿고 구하는 것은 무엇이든지 다 받을 것이다."
 
  두 아들의 비유(21:23-21:32)    
 
  1. And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
  2. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
  3. The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
  4. But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
  5. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
  1. 예수께서 성전에 들어가서 가르치고 계실 때에 대사제들과 백성의 원로들이 와서 "당신은 무슨 권한으로 이런 일들을 합니까? 누가 이런 권한을 주었습니까?" 하고 물었다.
  2. "나도 한 가지 물어보겠다. 너희가 대답하면 나도 무슨 권한으로 이 일을 하는지 말하겠다.
  3. 요한은 누구에게서 권한을 받아 세례를 베풀었느냐? 하늘이 준 것이냐? 사람이 준 것이냐?" 하고 반문하시자 그들은 자기들끼리 "그 권한을 하늘이 주었다고 하면 왜 그를 믿지 않았느냐 할 것이고
  4. 사람이 주었다고 하면 모두들 요한을 예언자로 여기고 있으니 군중이 가만 있지 않을 테지?" 하고 의논한 끝에
  5. "모르겠습니다." 하고 대답하였다. 예수께서는 "나도 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 하는지 말하지 않겠다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
  1. But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
  2. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
  3. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
  4. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
  5. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
  1. "또 이런 것은 어떻게 생각하느냐? 어떤 사람이 두 아들을 두었는데 먼저 맏아들에게 가서 '얘야, 너 오늘 포도원에 가서 일을 하여라.' 하고 일렀다.
  2. 맏아들은 처음에는 싫다고 하였지만 나중에 뉘우치고 일하러 갔다.
  3. 아버지는 둘째 아들에게 가서도 같은 말을 하였다. 둘째 아들은 가겠다는 대답만 하고 가지는 않았다.
  4. 이 둘 중에 아버지의 뜻을 받든 아들은 누구이겠느냐?" 하고 예수께서 물으셨다. 그들이 "맏아들입니다." 하고 대답하자 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나는 분명히 말한다. 세리와 창녀들이 너희보다 먼저 하느님의 나라에 들어가고 있다.
  5. 사실 요한이 너희를 찾아와서 올바른 길을 가르쳐줄 때에 너희는 그의 말을 믿지 않았지만 세리와 창녀들은 믿었다. 너희는 그것을 보고도 끝내 뉘우치지 않고 그를 믿지 않았다."
