- And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
- And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
- Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
- And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
- And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

- 예수께서 다시 호숫가에서 가르치셨다. 군중이 너무나 많이 모여들었기 때문에 예수께서는 배를 타고 그 안에 앉으신 다음 배를 물에 띄웠다. 그리고 군중은 모두 호숫가에 그대로 서 있었다.
- 예수께서는 비유로 여러 가지를 가르치시면서 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
- "자, 들어보아라. 씨 뿌리는 사람이 씨를 뿌리러 나갔다.
- 씨를 뿌리는데 어떤 것은 길바닥에 떨어져 새들이 와서 쪼아먹고
- 어떤 것은 흙이 많지 않은 돌밭에 떨어졌다. 흙이 깊지 않아서 싹은 곧 나왔지만

- But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
- And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
- And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
- And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
- And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

- 해가 뜨자 뿌리도 내리지 못한 채 말라버렸다.
- 또 어떤 것은 가시덤불 속에 떨어졌다. 가시나무들이 자라자 숨이 막혀 열매를 맺지 못하였다.
- 그러나 어떤 것은 좋은 땅에 떨어져서 싹이 나고 잘 자라 열매를 맺었는데, 열매가 삼십 배가 된 것도 있고 육십 배가 된 것도 있고 백 배가 된 것도 있었다."
- 예수께서는 이어서 "들을 귀가 있는 사람은 알아들어라." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 예수께서 혼자 계실 때에 예수를 따르는 사람들이 열두 제자와 함께 와서 비유의 뜻을 물었다.

- And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
- That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
- And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
- The sower soweth the word.
- And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

- 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "너희에게는 하느님 나라의 신비를 알게 해주었지만 다른 사람들에게는 모든 것을 비유로 들려준다.
- 그것은 그들이 '보고 또 보아도 알아보지 못하고 듣고 또 들어도 알아듣지 못하게 하려는 것이다. 그들이 알아보고 알아듣기만 한다면 나에게 돌아와 용서를 받게 될 것이다.'"
- 예수께서는 이어서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 이 비유도 알아듣지 못하면서 어떻게 다른 비유들을 알아듣겠느냐?
- 씨 뿌리는 사람이 뿌린 씨는 하늘 나라에 관한 말씀이다.
- 길바닥에 떨어졌다는 것은 마음속에 뿌려지는 그 말씀을 듣기는 하지만 날쌔게 달려드는 사탄에게 그것을 빼앗겨버리는 사람들을 두고 하는 말이다.

- And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
- And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
- And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
- And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
- And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

- 씨가 돌밭에 떨어졌다는 것은 그 말씀을 듣고 기꺼이 받아들이기는 하지만
- 그 마음속에 뿌리가 내리지 않아 오래 가지 못하고 그 후에 말씀 때문에 환난이나 박해를 당하게 되면 곧 넘어지는 사람들을 두고 하는 말이다.
- 그리고 씨가 가시덤불 속에 떨어졌다는 것은 그 말씀을 듣기는 하지만
- 세상 걱정과 재물의 유혹과 그 밖의 여러 가지 욕심이 들어와서 그 말씀을 가로막아 열매를 맺지 못하는 사람들을 두고 하는 말이다.
- 그러나 씨가 좋은 땅에 떨어졌다는 것은 그 말씀을 듣고 잘 받아들여 삼십 배, 육십 배, 백 배의 열매를 맺는 사람들을 두고 하는 말이다."

- And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
- For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
- If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
- And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
- For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

- 예수께서는 또 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "등불을 가져다가 됫박 아래나 침상 밑에 두는 사람이 어디 있겠느냐? 누구나 등경 위에 얹어놓지 않느냐?
- 감추어둔 것은 드러나게 마련이고 비밀은 알려지게 마련이다.
- 들을 귀가 있는 사람은 알아들어라."
- 또 말씀하셨다. "내 말을 마음에 새겨들어라. 너희가 남에게 달아주면 달아주는 만큼 받을 뿐만 아니라 덤까지 얹어 받을 것이다.
- 누구든지 가진 사람은 더 받을 것이며 가지지 못한 사람은 그 가진 것마저 빼앗길 것이다."

- And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
- And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
- For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
- But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
- And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

- 예수께서 또 말씀하셨다. "하느님 나라는 이렇게 비유할 수 있다. 어떤 사람이 땅에 씨앗을 뿌려놓았다.
- 하루하루 자고 일어나고 하는 사이에 씨앗은 싹이 트고 자라나지만 그 사람은 그것이 어떻게 자라는지 모른다.
- 땅이 저절로 열매를 맺게 하는 것인데 처음에는 싹이 돋고 그 다음에는 이삭이 패고 마침내 이삭에 알찬 낟알이 맺힌다.
- 곡식이 익으면 그 사람은 추수 때가 된 줄을 알고 곧 낫을 댄다."
- 예수께서 또 말씀하셨다. "하느님 나라를 무엇에 견주며 무엇으로 비유할 수 있을까?

- It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
- But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
- And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
- But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

- 그것은 겨자씨 한 알과 같다. 땅에 심을 때에는 세상의 어떤 씨앗보다도 더욱 작은 것이지만
- 심어놓으면 어떤 푸성귀보다도 더 크게 자라고 큰 가지가 뻗어서 공중의 새들이 그 그늘에 깃들일 만큼 된다."
- 예수께서는 그들이 알아들을 수 있을 정도로 이와 같은 여러 가지 비유로써 말씀을 전하셨다.
- 그들에게는 이렇게 비유로만 말씀하셨지만 제자들에게는 따로 일일이 그 뜻을 풀이해 주셨다.
