- And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
- Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
- And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
- And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
- And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

- 예수께서는 요르단 강에서 성령을 가득히 받고 돌아오신 뒤 성령의 인도로 광야에 가셔서
- 사십 일 동안 악마에게 유혹을 받으셨다. 그 동안 아무것도 잡수시지 않아서 사십 일이 지났을 때에는 몹시 허기지셨다.
- 그 때에 악마가 예수께 "당신이 하느님의 아들이거든 이 돌더러 빵이 되라고 하여 보시오." 하고 꾀었다.
- 예수께서는 "'사람이 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니다'라고 성서에 기록되어 있다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 그러자 악마는 예수를 높은 곳으로 데리고 가서 잠깐 사이에 세상의 모든 왕국을 보여주며

- And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
- If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
- And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
- And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
- For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

- 다시 말하였다. "저 모든 권세와 영광을 당신에게 주겠소. 저것은 내가 받은 것이니 누구에게나 내가 주고 싶은 사람에게 줄 수 있소.
- 만일 당신이 내 앞에 엎드려 절만 하면 모두가 당신의 것이 될 것이오."
- 예수께서는 악마에게 "'주님이신 너의 하느님을 예배하고 그분만을 섬겨라.'라고 성서에 기록되어 있다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 다시 악마는 예수를 예루살렘으로 데리고 가서 성전 꼭대기에 세우고 "당신이 하느님의 아들이거든 여기에서 뛰어내려 보시오.
- 성서에 '하느님이 당신의 천사들을 시켜 너를 지켜주시리라.' 하였고

- And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
- And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
- And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
- And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
- And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

- 또 '너의 발이 돌에 부딪히지 않게 손으로 너를 받들게 하시리라.'라고 기록되어 있지 않소?" 하고 말하였다.
- 예수께서는 "'주님이신 너희 하느님을 떠보지 마라'라는 말씀이 성서에 있다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 악마는 이렇게 여러 가지로 유혹해 본 끝에 다음 기회를 노리면서 예수를 떠나갔다.
- 예수께서는 성령의 능력을 가득히 받고 갈릴래아로 돌아가셨다. 예수의 소문은 그 곳 모든 지방에 두루 퍼졌다.
- 예수께서는 여러 회당에서 가르치시며 모든 사람에게 칭찬을 받으셨다.

- And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
- And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
- The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
- To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
- And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

- 예수께서는 자기가 자라난 나자렛에 가셔서 안식일이 되자 늘 하시던 대로 회당에 들어가셨다. 그리고 성서를 읽으시려고 일어서서
- 이사야 예언서의 두루마리를 받아 들고 이러한 말씀이 적혀 있는 대목을 펴서 읽으셨다.
- "주님의 성령이 나에게 내리셨다. 주께서 나에게 기름을 부으시어 가난한 이들에게 복음을 전하게 하셨다. 주께서 나를 보내시어 묶인 사람들에게는 해방을 알려주고 눈먼 사람들은 보게 하고, 억눌린 사람들에게는 자유를 주며
- 주님의 은총의 해를 선포하게 하셨다."
- 예수께서 두루마리를 말아서 시중들던 사람에게 되돌려주고 자리에 앉으시자 회당에 모였던 사람들의 눈이 모두 예수에게 쏠렸다.

- And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
- And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
- And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
- And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
- But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

- 예수께서는 "이 성서의 말씀이 오늘 너희가 들은 이 자리에서 이루어졌다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 사람들은 모두 예수를 칭찬하였고 그가 하시는 은총의 말씀에 탄복하며 "저 사람은 요셉의 아들이 아닌가?" 하고 수군거렸다.
- 예수께서는 "너희는 필경 '의사여, 네 병이나 고쳐라.' 하는 속담을 들어 나더러 가파르나움에서 했다는 일을 네 고장인 여기에서도 해보라고 하고 싶을 것이다." 하시고는
- 또 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "사실 어떤 예언자도 자기 고향에서는 환영을 받지 못한다.
- 잘 들어라. 엘리야 시대에 삼 년 반 동안이나 하늘이 닫혀 비가 내리지 않고 온 나라에 심한 기근이 들었을 때 이스라엘에는 과부가 많았지만

- But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
- And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
- And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
- And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
- But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

- 하느님께서는 엘리야를 그들 가운데 아무에게도 보내시지 않고 다만 시돈 지방 사렙다 마을에 사는 어떤 과부에게만 보내주셨다.
- 또 예언자 엘리사 시대에 이스라엘에는 많은 나병환자가 살고 있었지만 그들은 단 한 사람도 고쳐주시지 않고 시리아 사람인 나아만만을 깨끗하게 고쳐주셨다."
- 회당에 모였던 사람들은 이 말씀을 듣고는 모두 화가 나서
- 들고일어나 예수를 동네 밖으로 끌어냈다. 그 동네는 산 위에 있었는데 그들은 예수를 산 벼랑까지 끌고 가서 밀어 떨어뜨리려 하였다.
- 그러나 예수께서는 그들의 한가운데를 지나서 자기의 갈 길을 가셨다.

- And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
- And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

- 그 뒤 예수께서는 갈릴래아의 마을 가파르나움으로 내려가셨다. 거기에서도 안식일에 사람들을 가르치셨는데
- 그 말씀에 권위가 있었기 때문에 듣는 사람마다 그 가르침에 경탄하여 마지않았다.
