- There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
- And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
- I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
- Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

- 바로 그 때 어떤 사람들이 예수께 와서 빌라도가 희생물을 드리던 갈릴래아 사람들을 학살하여 그 흘린 피가 제물에 물들었다는 이야기를 일러드렸다.
- 예수께서 이 말을 들으시고 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "그 갈릴래아 사람들이 다른 모든 갈릴래아 사람보다 더 죄가 많아서 그런 변을 당한 줄 아느냐?
- 아니다. 잘 들어라. 너희도 회개하지 않으면 모두 그렇게 망할 것이다.
- 또 실로암 탑이 무너질 때 깔려 죽은 열여덟 사람은 예루살렘에 사는 다른 모든 사람보다 더 죄가 많은 사람들인 줄 아느냐?
- 아니다. 잘 들어라. 너희도 회개하지 않으면 모두 그렇게 망할 것이다."

- He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
- Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
- And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
- And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
- And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

- 예수께서 그들에게 다음과 같은 비유를 들어 말씀하셨다. "어떤 사람이 포도원에 무화과나무 한 그루를 심어놓았다. 그 나무에 열매가 열렸나 하고 가보았지만 열매가 하나도 없었다.
- 그래서 포도원지기에게 '내가 이 무화과나무에서 열매를 따볼까 하고 벌써 삼 년째나 여기 왔으나 열매가 달린 것을 한 번도 본 적이 없으니 아예 잘라버려라. 쓸데없이 땅만 썩일 필요가 어디 있겠느냐?' 하였다. 그러자
- 포도원지기는 '주인님, 이 나무를 금년 한 해만 더 그냥 두십시오. 그 동안에 제가 그 둘레를 파고 거름을 주겠습니다.
- 그렇게 하면 다음 철에 열매를 맺을지도 모릅니다. 만일 그 때 가서도 열매를 맺지 못하면 베어버리십시오.' 하고 대답하였다."
- 예수께서 안식일에 어떤 회당에서 가르치고 계셨는데

- And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
- And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
- And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
- And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
- The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

- 마침 거기에 열여덟 해 동안이나 병마에 사로잡혀 허리가 굽어져서 몸을 제대로 펴지 못하는 여자가 하나 있었다.
- 예수께서는 그 여자를 보시고 가까이 불러 "여인아, 네 병이 이미 너에게서 떨어졌다." 하시고
- 그 여자에게 손을 얹어주셨다. 그러자 그 여자는 즉시 허리를 펴고 하느님을 찬양하였다.
- 그런데 회당장은 예수께서 안식일에 병을 고치시는 것을 보고 분개하여 모였던 사람들에게 "일할 날이 일주일에 엿새나 있습니다. 그러니 그 엿새 동안에 와서 병을 고쳐달라 하시오. 안식일에는 안 됩니다." 하고 말하였다.
- 주께서 이 말을 들으시고 "이 위선자들아, 너희 가운데 누가 안식일이라 하여 자기 소나 나귀를 외양간에서 풀어내어 물을 먹이지 않느냐?

- And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
- And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
- Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
- It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
- And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

- 이 여자도 아브라함의 자손인데 열여덟 해 동안이나 사탄에게 매여 있었다. 그런데 안식일이라 하여 이 여자를 사탄의 사슬에서 풀어주지 말아야 한단 말이냐?" 하셨다.
- 이 말씀에 예수를 반대하던 자들은 모두 망신을 당하였으나 군중은 예수께서 행하시는 온갖 훌륭한 일을 보고 모두 기뻐하였다.
- 예수께서 또 말씀하셨다. "하느님의 나라는 무엇과 같으며 또 무엇에 비길 수 있을까?
- 어떤 사람이 겨자씨 한 알을 밭에 뿌렸다. 겨자씨는 싹이 돋고 자라서 큰 나무가 되어 공중의 새들이 그 가지에 깃들였다. 하느님의 나라는 이 겨자씨와 같다."
- 예수께서 또 말씀하셨다. "하느님의 나라를 무엇에 비길 수 있을까?

- It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

- 어떤 여자가 누룩을 밀가루 서 말 속에 집어넣었더니 마침내 온 덩이가 부풀어올랐다. 하느님의 나라는 이런 누룩과 같다."
