- And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
- And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
- Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
- I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
- So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

- 예수께서 제자들에게 또 말씀하셨다. "어떤 부자가 청지기 한 사람을 두었는데 자기 재산을 그 청지기가 낭비한다는 말을 듣고
- 청지기를 불러다가 말했다. '자네 소문을 들었는데 그게 무슨 짓인가? 이제는 자네를 내 청지기로 둘 수 없으니 자네가 맡은 일을 다 청산하게.'
- 청지기는 속으로 생각했다. '주인이 내 청지기 직분을 빼앗으려 하니 어떻게 하면 좋을까? 땅을 파자니 힘이 없고 빌어먹자니 창피한 노릇이구나.
- 옳지, 좋은 수가 있다. 내가 청지기 자리에서 물러날 때 나를 자기 집에 맞아줄 사람들을 미리 만들어놓아야겠다.'
- 그래서 그는 자기 주인에게 빚진 사람들을 하나씩 불러다가 첫째 사람에게 '당신이 우리 주인에게 진 빚이 얼마요?' 하고 물었다.

- And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
- Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
- And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
- And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
- He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

- '기름 백 말이오.' 하고 대답하자 청지기는 '당신의 문서가 여기 있으니 어서 앉아서 오십 말이라고 적으시오.' 하고 일러주었다.
- 또 다른 사람에게 '당신이 진 빚은 얼마요?' 하고 물었다. 그 사람이 '밀 백 섬이오.' 하고 대답하자 청지기는 '당신의 문서가 여기 있으니 팔십 섬이라고 적으시오.' 하고 일러주었다.
- 그 정직하지 못한 청지기가 일을 약삭빠르게 처리하였기 때문에 주인은 오히려 그를 칭찬하였다. 세속의 자녀들이 자기네들끼리 거래하는 데는 빛의 자녀들보다 더 약다."
- 예수께서 말씀을 계속하셨다. "그러니 잘 들어라. 세속의 재물로라도 친구를 사귀어라. 그러면 재물이 없어질 때에 너희는 영접을 받으며 영원한 집으로 들어갈 것이다.
- 지극히 작은 일에 충실한 사람은 큰 일에도 충실하며 지극히 작은 일에 부정직한 사람은 큰 일에도 부정직할 것이다.

- If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
- And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
- No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
- And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
- And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

- 만약 너희가 세속의 재물을 다루는 데도 충실하지 못하다면 누가 참된 재물을 너희에게 맡기겠느냐?
- 또 너희가 남의 것에 충실하지 못하다면 누가 너희의 몫을 내어주겠느냐?"
- "한 종이 두 주인을 섬길 수는 없다. 한 편을 미워하고 다른 편을 사랑하거나 또는 한 편을 존중하고 다른 편을 업신여기게 마련이다. 하느님과 재물을 함께 섬길 수는 없다."
- 돈을 좋아하는 바리사이파 사람들이 이 모든 말씀을 듣고 예수를 비웃었다.
- 그래서 예수께서는 그들에게 "너희는 사람들 앞에서 옳은 체한다. 그러나 하느님께서는 너희의 마음보를 다 아신다. 사실 사람들에게 떠받들리는 것이 하느님께는 가증스럽게 보이는 것이다." 하고 말씀하셨다.

- The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
- And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
- Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

- "요한 때까지는 율법과 예언자의 시대였다. 그 이후로는 하느님 나라의 복음이 선포되고 있는데 누구나 그 나라에 들어가려고 애쓰고 있다."
- "하늘과 땅은 사라져도 율법은 한 획도 없어지지 않을 것이다."
- "아내를 버리고 다른 여자와 결혼하는 사람은 간음을 행하는 것이며 버림받은 여자와 결혼하는 사람도 간음을 행하는 것이다."
