- And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:
- The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
- Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
- And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

- 명절 때에 예배를 드리러 올라왔던 사람들 중에는 그리스 사람도 몇이 있었다.
- 그들은 갈릴래아 지방 베싸이다에서 온 필립보에게 가서 "선생님, 예수를 뵙게 하여주십시오." 하고 간청하였다.
- 필립보가 안드레아에게 가서 이 말을 하고 두 사람이 함께 예수께 가서 그 말을 전하였다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "사람의 아들이 큰 영광을 받을 때가 왔다.
- 정말 잘 들어두어라. 밀알 하나가 땅에 떨어져 죽지 않으면 한 알 그대로 남아 있고 죽으면 많은 열매를 맺는다.

- He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
- If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
- Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
- Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
- The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

- 누구든지 자기 목숨을 아끼는 사람은 잃을 것이며 이 세상에서 자기 목숨을 미워하는 사람은 목숨을 보존하며 영원히 살게 될 것이다.
- 누구든지 나를 섬기려면 나를 따라오너라. 내가 있는 곳에는 나를 섬기는 사람도 같이 있게 될 것이다. 누구든지 나를 섬기면 내 아버지께서 그를 높이실 것이다."
- "내가 지금 이렇게 마음을 걷잡을 수 없으니 무슨 말을 할까? '아버지, 이 시간을 면하게 하여주소서.' 하고 기원할까? 아니다. 나는 바로 이 고난의 시간을 겪으러 온 것이다.
- 아버지, 아버지의 영광을 드러내소서." 그 때에 하늘에서 "내가 이미 내 영광을 드러냈고 앞으로도 드러내리라." 하는 음성이 들려왔다.
- 거기에 서서 그 소리를 들은 군중 가운데는 천둥이 울렸다고 하는 사람들도 있었고 천사가 예수께 말하였다고 하는 사람들도 있었다.

- Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
- Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
- And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
- This he said, signifying what death he should die.
- The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

- 그러나 예수께서는 "이것은 나를 위해서가 아니라 너희를 위해서 들려온 음성이다.
- 지금은 이 세상이 심판을 받을 때이다. 이제는 이 세상의 통치자가 쫓겨나게 되었다.
- 내가 이 세상을 떠나 높이 들리게 될 때에는 모든 사람을 이끌어 나에게 오게 할 것이다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 이것은 예수께서 당신이 어떻게 돌아가시리라는 것을 암시하신 말씀이었다.
- 그 때에 군중이 "우리는 율법서에서 그리스도가 영원히 사시리라는 말을 들었습니다. 그런데 선생님은 사람의 아들이 높이 들려야 한다고 하시니 도대체 무슨 뜻입니까? 그 사람의 아들이란 누구를 가리키는 것입니까?" 하고 물었다.

- Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
- While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
- But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
- That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
- Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

- 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "빛이 너희와 같이 있는 것도 잠시뿐이니 빛이 있는 동안에 걸어가라. 그리하면 어둠이 너희를 덮치지 못할 것이다. 어둠 속을 걸어가는 사람은 자기가 어디로 가는지 모른다.
- 그러니 빛이 있는 동안에 빛을 믿고 빛의 자녀가 되어라."
- 예수께서 그렇게도 많은 기적을 사람들 앞에서 행하셨건만 그들은 예수를 믿으려 하지 않았다.
- 그리하여 예언자 이사야가, "주여, 우리가 전한 말을 누가 믿었으며 주께서 보여주신 능력을 누가 깨달았습니까?" 한 말이 이루어졌다.
- 그들이 믿을 수가 없었던 이유를 이사야는 또 이렇게 말하였다.

- He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
- These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
- Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
- For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
- Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

- "주께서 그들의 눈을 멀게 하시고 그들의 마음을 둔하게 하셨으니 이는 그들이 눈을 가지고도 알아보지 못하고 마음으로도 깨닫지 못하여 끝내 나에게로 돌아오지 못하고 나한테 온전히 고쳐지지 못하게 하시려는 것이다."
- 이것은 이사야가 예수의 영광을 보았기 때문에 말한 것이며 또 예수를 가리켜서 한 말이었다.
- 유다 지도자들 중에서도 예수를 믿는 사람들이 많았으나 바리사이파 사람들이 두려워서 예수 믿는다는 말을 드러내 놓고 하지는 못하였다. 회당에서 쫓겨날까 겁이 났던 것이다.
- 그들은 하느님께서 주시는 영광보다도 인간이 주는 영광을 더 사랑하는 사람들이었다.
- 예수께서 큰소리로 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나를 믿는 사람은 나뿐 아니라 나를 보내신 분까지 믿는 것이고

- And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
- I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
- And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
- He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
- For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

- 나를 보는 사람은 나를 보내신 분도 보는 것이다.
- 나는 빛으로서 이 세상에 왔다. 그러므로 누구든지 나를 믿는 사람은 어둠 속에서 살지 않을 것이다.
- 어떤 사람이 내 말을 듣고 지키지 않는다 하더라도 나는 그를 단죄하지 않을 것이다. 나는 이 세상을 단죄하러 온 것이 아니라 구원하러 왔기 때문이다.
- 그러나 나를 배척하고 내 말을 받아들이지 않는 사람을 단죄하는 것이 따로 있다. 내가 한 바로 그 말이 세상 끝날에 그를 단죄할 것이다.
- 나는 내 마음대로 말하지 않고 나를 보내신 아버지께서 무엇을 어떻게 말하라고 친히 명령하시는 대로 말하였다.

- And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
|
- 나는 그 명령이 영원한 생명을 준다는 것을 안다. 그래서 나는 무엇이나 아버지께서 나에게 일러주신 대로 말하는 것뿐이다."
