- Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
- As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
- And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
- So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
- And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

- 그 때 안티오키아 교회에는 예언자와 교사 몇 사람이 있었는데 그들은 바르나바와 니게르라고 불리는 시므온과 키레네 사람 루기오와 영주 헤로데와 함께 자라난 마나엔과 사울이었다.
- 그들이 단식을 하며 주님께 예배 드리고 있을 때에 성령께서 "바르나바와 사울을 따로 세워라. 내가 그들에게 맡기기로 정해 놓은 일이 있다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 그래서 그들은 다시 단식하며 기도를 하고 나서 그들에게 안수를 해주고 떠나보냈다.
- 바르나바와 사울은 성령께서 보내시는 대로 셀류기아로 내려가서 배를 타고 키프로스 섬으로 건너갔다.
- 그들은 살라미스에 이르러 유다인의 여러 회당에 들러 하느님의 말씀을 전파하였다. 그 때 요한 마르코도 그들을 따라다니며 일을 도왔다.

- And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
- Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
- But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
- Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
- And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

- 그들이 섬을 다 돌고 마침내 바포에 이르렀을 때 한 유다인 마술사를 만나게 되었다. 그는 바르예수라고 하는 거짓 예언자였고
- 총독 세루기오 바울로의 시종이었다. 총독은 매우 영리한 사람이어서 바르나바와 사울을 청하여 하느님의 말씀을 들으려고 하였다.
- 그리스 말로 엘리마라고도 하는 그 마술사는 총독의 개종을 막으려고 두 사도를 방해하였다.
- 그러나 바울로라고도 불리는 사울은 성령으로 가득 차서 그 마술사를 쏘아보며
- "기만과 죄악으로 가득 찬 이 악마의 자식아, 너는 나쁜 짓만 골라가면서 하는 악당이다. 언제까지 너는 주님의 길을 훼방할 셈이냐?

- And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
- Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

- 이제 주님께서 손으로 너를 내리치실 것이다. 그러면 너는 눈이 멀어 한동안 햇빛을 보지 못하게 될 것이다." 하고 꾸짖었다. 이 말이 떨어지자 안개와 어둠이 내리덮쳐 그는 앞을 더듬으며 손을 잡아줄 사람을 찾았다.
- 이 광경을 처음부터 보고 있던 총독은 주님께 관한 가르침에 깊이 감동되어 신도가 되었다.
