사도행전 21:17-21:36

 예루살렘에 도착한 바울은 유대인들의 모함으로 몰매를 맞고 죽음의 위기에 놓였을 때 로마 군대 천부장에게 체포됨으로써 성난 군중들로부터 구출되었다.
  
  예루살렘으로 귀환(21:17-21:26)    
 
  1. And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
  2. And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
  3. And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
  4. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
  5. And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
  1. 예루살렘에 도착한 우리는 교우들의 따뜻한 영접을 받았다.
  2. 다음날 우리는 바울로를 따라 야고보를 찾아갔는데 원로들도 다 거기에 모여 있었다.
  3. 바울로는 그들에게 인사한 다음, 자기의 활동을 통하여 하느님께서 이방인들에게 해놓으신 일들을 낱낱이 보고하였다.
  4. 그들은 그 보고를 듣고 하느님을 찬양하며 바울로에게 이렇게 말하였다. "아시겠지만 유다인들 가운데서도 예수를 믿는 사람이 대단히 많습니다. 그들은 모두 율법을 지키는 데 골몰한 사람들입니다.
  5. 그런데 그들은 당신이 이방인들 가운데서 사는 모든 유다인들에게 모세를 배척하고 자식들에게 할례도 베풀지 말고 유다인의 풍속을 지키지도 말라고 가르친다는 말을 전해 듣고 있습니다.
  1. What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
  2. Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
  3. Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
  4. As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
  5. Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
  1. 그들은 당신이 여기 온 것을 틀림없이 알게 될 터이니 어떻게 하면 좋겠습니까?
  2. 그러니 당신은 우리가 일러주는 대로만 하시오. 여기에 하느님 앞에 맹세를 한 사람 넷이 있습니다.
  3. 이 사람들을 데리고 가서 함께 정결예식을 행하고 그 비용을 대십시오. 그러면 그들이 삭발을 하게 될 것이고 유다인들은 당신에 관한 소문이 전혀 사실이 아닐 뿐더러 도리어 당신도 모세의 율법을 지키며 산다는 것을 다 알게 될 것입니다.
  4. 이방인 신도들에게는 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹지 말고 피와 목 졸라 죽인 짐승을 먹지 말고 음란한 행동을 하지 말아야 한다는 우리의 결정을 이미 써 보낸 바 있습니다."
  5. 바울로는 그 이튿날 그 네 사람을 데리고 함께 정결예식을 행하고 성전으로 들어갔다. 그리고 정결의 기간이 끝나는 날짜 곧 각 사람이 예물을 바칠 날짜를 신고하였다.
 
  바울의 체포(21:27-21:36)    
 
  1. And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
  2. Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
  3. (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
  4. And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
  5. And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
  1. 이레 동안의 정결 기간이 거의 끝날 무렵, 아시아에서 온 유다인들이 바울로가 성전에 있는 것을 보고 군중을 선동하여 그를 붙잡고
  2. "이스라엘 동포 여러분, 우리를 도와주시오. 이자는 어디 가든지 누구에게나 우리 동포와 율법과 이 성전을 반대하라고 가르치는 사람입니다. 그뿐만 아니라 이자는 이방인들까지 성전으로 데리고 들어와서 이 거룩한 곳을 더럽혀 놓았습니다." 하고 소리쳤다.
  3. 그들은 바울로가 시내에서 에페소 사람 드로피모와 함께 있는 것을 보았으므로 필경 바울로가 그 이방인을 성전에까지 데리고 들어갔으리라고 생각하였던 것이다.
  4. 이 때문에 온 도시가 소란해지고 사람들이 몰려들었다. 그들은 바울로를 붙잡아서 성전 밖으로 끌어냈다. 그러자 성전문은 곧 닫혔다.
  5. 사람들이 막 바울로를 죽이려고 할 때에 예루살렘 성 안에 폭동이 일어났다는 보고가 로마 군 파견대장의 귀에 들어갔다.
  1. Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
  2. Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
  3. And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
  4. And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
  5. For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
  1. 그래서 그는 즉시 군인들과 백인대장들을 거느리고 현장으로 달려갔다. 바울로를 때리고 있던 사람들은 파견대장과 군인들을 보자 때리던 손을 멈추었다.
  2. 파견대장은 가까이 가서 바울로를 체포하고 부하들을 시켜 쇠사슬 둘로 그를 결박한 다음, 그가 누구인지 또 무슨 짓을 했는지 물어보았다.
  3. 그러나 사람들이 저마다 다른 소리를 하며 소란을 피워서 진상을 알아낼 도리가 없었다. 그래서 파견대장은 바울로를 병영으로 끌고 가라고 명령하였다.
  4. 바울로가 층계까지 끌려갔을 때에 군중이 하도 난폭하게 굴어서 군인들은 바울로를 둘러메고 올라가는 수밖에 없었다.
  5. 군중은 뒤따라오며 "그놈을 죽여라." 하고 소리소리 지르고 있었다.
