- Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
- For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
- For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
- When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
- For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

- 그런데 이번에는 칭찬할 수 없는 일을 한 가지 말씀 드리겠습니다. 그것은 여러분이 모여서 하는 일이 이익보다는 해를 자아낸다는 것입니다.
- 무엇보다도 여러분이 모이는 교회 안에 당파가 생겼다는 말을 들었는데 나는 그것이 전연 헛소문만은 아니라고 생각합니다.
- 하기야 여러분 가운데서 진실한 사람들이 드러나려면 분파도 있어야 할 것입니다.
- 하지만 여러분이 한자리에 모여서 나누는 식사는 주님의 성찬을 나누는 것이라 할 수가 없습니다.
- 여러분은 모여서 음식을 먹을 때에 각각 자기가 가져온 것을 먼저 먹어치우고 따라서 굶주리는 사람이 생기는가 하면 술에 만취하는 사람도 생기니 말입니다.

- What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
- For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
- And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
- After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
- For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

- 각각 자기 집이 없어서 거기에서 먹고 마시는 겁니까? 그렇지 않으면 하느님의 교회를 멸시하고 가난한 사람들에게 창피를 주려고 그러는 것입니까? 내가 무엇이라고 말해야 하겠습니까? 이래도 여러분을 칭찬해야 하겠습니까? 이 일만은 칭찬할 수 없습니다.
- 내가 여러분에게 전해 준 것은 주님께로부터 받은 것입니다. 곧 주 예수께서 잡히시던 날 밤에 빵을 손에 드시고
- 감사의 기도를 드리신 다음, 빵을 떼시고 "이것은 너희들을 위하여 주는 내 몸이니 나를 기억하여 이 예를 행하여라." 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
- 또 식후에 잔을 드시고 감사의 기도를 드리신 다음, "이것은 내 피로 맺는 새로운 계약의 잔이니 마실 때마다 나를 기억하여 이 예를 행하여라." 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
- 그러므로 여러분은 이 빵을 먹고 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주님의 죽음을 선포하고, 이것을 주님께서 다시 오실 때까지 하십시오.

- Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
- But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
- For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
- For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
- For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

- 그러니 올바른 마음가짐 없이 그 빵을 먹거나 주님의 잔을 마시는 사람은 주님의 몸과 피를 모독하는 죄를 범하는 것입니다.
- 각 사람은 자신을 살피고 나서 그 빵을 먹고 그 잔을 마셔야 합니다.
- 주님의 몸이 의미하는 바를 깨닫지 못하고 먹고 마시는 사람은 그렇게 먹고 마심으로써 자기 자신을 단죄하는 것입니다.
- 여러분 중에 몸이 약한 자와 병든 자가 많고 죽은 자도 적지 않은 것은 이 때문입니다.
- 우리가 먼저 우리 자신을 잘 살핀다면 하느님의 심판은 받지 않을 것입니다.

- But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
- Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
- And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

- 그러나 우리가 자신을 살피지 않기 때문에 지금 심판을 받고 있는 것이며 이것은 주님께서 우리를 단련하여 마침내 이 세상과 함께 단죄받는 일이 없도록 하시려는 것입니다.
- 그러므로 형제 여러분, 거룩한 회식을 하려고 교회가 모일 때에는 서로 남을 기다려주십시오.
- 만일 배가 고프면 집에서 미리 음식을 먹고서 모임에 나오도록 하십시오. 그래야 여러분이 단죄받는 일이 없을 것입니다. 그 밖의 일에 대해서는 내가 가서 일러드리겠습니다.
