- For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
- For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
- If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
- For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
- Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

- 우리가 들어 있는 지상의 장막집이 무너지면 우리는 하늘에 있는 영원한 집에 들게 된다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 그것은 사람의 손으로 지은 것이 아니라 하느님께서 세워주시는 집입니다.
- 지금 육신의 장막을 쓰고 사는 우리는 옷을 입듯이 하늘에 있는 우리의 집을 덧입기를 갈망하면서 신음하고 있습니다.
- 우리가 그것을 입으면 벌거숭이가 되지 않을 것입니다.
- 이 장막에 머물러 있는 동안 우리는 무거운 짐에 짓눌려 신음하고 있습니다. 그렇다고 해서 우리가 이 장막을 벗어버리고자 하는 것은 아닙니다. 다만 하늘의 집을 덧입음으로써 죽음이 생명에게 삼켜져 없어지게 되기를 갈망하고 있습니다.
- 이런 일을 우리에게 마련해 주신 분은 바로 하느님이시며 그 보증으로 우리에게 성령을 주셨습니다.

- Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
- (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
- We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
- Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
- For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

- 그러므로 우리는 언제나 마음이 든든합니다. 그러나 육체에 머물러 있는 동안에는 우리가 주님에게서 멀리 떠나 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다.
- 사실 우리는 보이는 것으로 살아가지 않고 믿음으로 살아갑니다.
- 그러므로 우리는 마음이 든든하며 오히려 육체를 떠나서 주님과 함께 평안히 살기를 원합니다.
- 그러나 우리가 육체에 머물러 있든지 떠나서 주님 곁에 가 있든지 오직 그분을 기쁘게 해드리는 일만이 우리의 소원입니다.
- 우리가 다 그리스도의 심판대 앞에 나가는 날에는 우리가 육체에 머물러 있는 동안에 한 일들이 숨김없이 드러나서 잘한 일은 상을 받고 잘못한 일은 벌을 받게 될 것이기 때문입니다.
