욥기 32:1-33:33

 욥의 세 친구들은 그가 끝까지 결백을 주장하자 변론을 중단하였다. 그러자 이때 엘리후가 의롭다는 욥과 그를 정죄한 세 친구들을 공박하면서 세 친구들이 욥과의 변론에서 올바른 대답을 해주지 못했다고 지적하였다. 그리고 하나님은 사람보다 크시다고 하면서, 스스로 불의가 없다고 고백한 욥의 말은 의롭지 못하다고 하였다.
  
  엘리후의 발언(32:1-33:33)    
 
  1. So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
  2. Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
  3. Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
  4. Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
  5. When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
  1. 이렇듯이 욥이 자기의 무죄를 주장하자 세 친구는 더 이상 할 말이 없었다.
  2. 그런데 람족 출신인 부스 사람 바라켈의 아들 엘리후가 욥을 대단히 못마땅하게 생각하였다. 하느님보다도 옳은 체하는 것이 괘씸하기 그지없었다.
  3. 그는 욥의 세 친구에게도 솟아오르는 의분을 참을 수 없었다. 그에게 답변다운 답변을 하지 못함으로써 결국 잘못이 하느님에게 있는 것이 되어버렸으므로 못마땅하였던 것이다.
  4. 그러나 그들이 자기보다 나이가 많았기 때문에 그들이 욥과 말을 주고받는 동안 참고 기다릴 수밖에 없었다.
  5. 엘리후는 세 친구가 답변다운 답변을 하지 못하는 것을 보고 의분을 느꼈다.
  1. And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
  2. I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
  3. But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
  4. Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
  5. Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
  1. 그리하여 부스 사람 바라켈의 아들 엘리후는 입을 열어 말하기 시작하였다. 어르신네들에 비하면 저는 한낱 풋내기입니다. 제가 무엇을 안다고 아뢰랴 싶어 황송하여 망설였습니다.
  2. 나이가 지긋이 들어야 할 말이 있고 연치가 들어야 지혜를 안다고 생각했었습니다.
  3. 그런데 알고 보니 슬기란 사람 속에 있는 얼이요, 전능하신 분의 입김에서 풍겨오는 것이더군요.
  4. 나이가 많다고 지혜로워지는 것도 아니고 연로했다고 바른 판단을 내리는 것도 아니었습니다.
  5. 그러니 제 말을 들어보십시오. 저도 소견을 펴보이겠습니다.
  1. Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
  2. Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
  3. Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
  4. Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
  5. They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
  1. 그렇습니다. 저는 어르신네들이 말씀하시는 동안 기다렸습니다. 그럴듯한 말을 골라서 토로하시는 그 슬기로운 의견에 귀를 기울였습니다.
  2. 어르신네들의 소견을 귀담아들었습니다. 그런데 아무도 욥을 논박하지 못하시고 그의 말을 꺾지 못하시더군요.
  3. "이제야 우리도 지혜를 깨쳤다. 그를 쓸어가는 일은 사람이 할 일이 아니라 하느님께서 하실 일이다." 이렇게 말씀하지 마십시오.
  4. 욥이 아직 저에게 말을 걸어온 것은 아닙니다마는 저는 그런 식으로 논박하지는 않겠습니다.
  5. 아, 저렇게도 어리둥절 말문이 막히다니, 아주 유구무언이시군.
  1. When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
  2. I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
  3. For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
  4. Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
  5. I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
  1. 저렇게도 어안이 벙벙하여 말을 못하고 서 있는데 어찌 더 이상 기다리고 있으랴!
  2. 이제 나도 할 말을 해야지. 나의 소신을 피력해야지.
  3. 내 입은 말로 차 있어 터질 듯하고 뱃속에선 태풍이 이는 것 같구나.
  4. 가슴 속에 술이 부글부글 끓는 것일까? 새 술부대가 금방 터지기라도 할 듯하구나.
  5. 속이 후련하게 말해 버려야지. 입을 열어 속을 털어놓아야지.
  1. Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
  2. For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
  1. 누구의 편이나 들고 누구에게 아첨이나 할 것인가?
  2. 나는 애당초 아첨 같은 것과는 인연이 멀다. 그랬다가는 나를 만드신 분이 당장 나의 말문을 막으시리라.
 
 
  1. Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
  2. Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
  3. My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
  4. The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
  5. If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
  1. 욥, 이제 내 말을 들어보시오. 한마디도 놓치지 말고 귀를 기울이시오.
  2. 이제 내가 말하겠소, 입 속에서 혀가 굴려내는 말을.
  3. 그 말은 나의 마음에서 우러나는 소리, 나의 입술은 솔직하게 소신을 토로할 것이오.
  4. 나도 하느님의 콧김으로 생겨난 몸, 전능하신 분의 입김을 받아 숨쉬게 된 몸이오.
  5. 할 말이 있거든 대답해 보시오. 나와서 변론을 펴보시오.
  1. Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
  2. Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
  3. Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
  4. I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
  5. Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
  1. 나라고 하느님 앞에서 당신과 무엇이 다르겠소? 나도 먼지로 빚어 만드신 것,
  2. 그러니 내가 무슨 소리를 하든지 겁내지 마시오. 내가 당신을 너무 심하게 다루리라고 염려하지도 마시오.
  3. 내 귀가 당신의 말을 어찌 한마디인들 놓쳤겠소. 당신이 하는 말을 나는 다 들었소.
  4. "나는 순결하여 죄가 없다. 깨끗하여 거리낄 것이 없다.
  5. 그런데 하느님께서는 나를 몰아세울 구실이나 찾으시고 나를 원수로 여기신다.
  1. He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
  2. Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
  3. Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
  4. For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
  5. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
  1. 나의 발에 차꼬를 채우시고 나의 걸음을 낱낱이 감시하신다."
  2. 이런 당신의 말을 나는 도저히 옳게 받아들일 수 없소. 똑똑히 일러드리리다. 하느님은 사람과 비길 수 없는 분이오.
  3. 그런데 당신의 말에 한마디 답변도 않으신다고 해서 어떻게 하느님을 비난할 수 있겠소?
  4. 사람이 모를 뿐, 하느님께서 말씀하시는 길은 이런 길도 저런 길도 있다오.
  5. 깊은 잠이 덮어씌워 모두들 자리에 쓰러져 곯아 떨어지는 밤에 하느님께서는 꿈에 말씀하시고 나타나 말씀하시지 않소?
  1. Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
  2. That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
  3. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
  4. He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
  5. So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
  1. 사람들의 귀를 열어주시고 깜짝 놀라게도 하시어
  2. 악한 일에서 손을 떼고 건방진 생각을 버리게도 하신다오.
  3. 그리하여 목숨을 무덤 어귀에서 건져내시고 생명을 저승길에서 돌려 세우시지요.
  4. 병상에서 신음하는 괴로움, 뼈 마디마디 쑤셔대는 아픔이 그의 징계가 되는 수도 있다오.
  5. 음식이 전혀 입에 당기지 않아 진수성찬도 입에 쓰기만 하고
  1. His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
  2. Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
  3. If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
  4. Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
  5. His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
  1. 뼈들은 앙상하게 가죽으로 덮여 눈 뜨고는 볼 수 없는 몰골,
  2. 그 인간의 넋은 무덤의 문턱에 다다랐고 그의 생명은 죽음의 문턱을 막 넘어서려는데,
  3. 수많은 하늘의 천사 중 하나가 나타나 일깨워준다면, 마음을 바로잡으라고 일러준다면 다 되는 일,
  4. 이렇듯이 자비를 베푸시어, "살려주어라. 무덤으로 들어가지 않게 하여라. 나 이미 속전을 받았다." 하고 말씀해 주신다면
  5. 그의 근육은 젊은이처럼 팽팽해지고 혈기왕성하던 한창때로 돌아갈 것이오.
  1. He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
  2. He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
  3. He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
  4. Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
  5. To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
  1. 하느님께 빌기만 하면 은총을 받아 기뻐 소리치며 하느님의 얼굴을 뵙게 되지 않겠소? 하느님께서 그의 무죄를 선포해 주시지 않겠소?
  2. 이렇게 되면 그는 사람들 앞에서 노래할 것이오. "나는 죄를 지었다. 나는 부정을 저질렀다. 그런데 그는 나의 죄를 벌하시지 않았다.
  3. 무덤 어귀에서 나의 목숨을 살려내시어 나의 생명이 다시 빛을 보게 되었다."
  4. 아, 하느님께서 하시는 일은 모두 이런 일, 두 번이고 세 번이고 사람을 이렇게 돌보아 주신다오.
  5. 사람의 목숨을 무덤에서 살려내시고 빛을 받아 생기를 되찾게 하여주신다오.
  1. Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
  2. If thou hast anything to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
  3. If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
  1. 욥, 이제 정신을 차리고 내 말을 들으시오. 내가 말하겠소, 진정하시오.
  2. 대답할 말이 있으면 어서 말해 보시오. 당신이 무죄하다면야 즐겨 인정해 주겠소.
  3. 그렇지 못하거든 내 말을 들으시오. 내가 일러주는 지혜를 조용히 들어보시오.
