- Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.

- 여러분은 내가 좀 어리석어 보이더라도 참아주시기 바랍니다. 꼭 참아주십시오.
- 하느님께서 여러분을 염려하시는 것처럼 나도 염려하는 나머지 마음이 놓이지 않습니다. 그것은 내가 순결한 처녀인 여러분을 오직 한 남편 그리스도에게 바치려고 정혼을 시켰기 때문입니다.
- 내가 염려하는 것은 마치 하와가 뱀의 간사한 꾐에 넘어간 것처럼 여러분도 미혹되어 생각이 변해서 그리스도에 대한 충성과 순결을 저버리지나 않을까 하는 것입니다.
- 사실 어떤 사람이 와서 우리가 전한 것과는 다른 예수를 전하고 여러분이 받은 성령과는 다른 것을 주며 또 전에 받아들인 것과는 다른 복음을 전파하는데도 여러분은 아무렇지도 않게 여기니까 하는 말입니다.
- 나는 그 특출하다는 사도들보다 조금도 못할 것이 없다고 자부합니다.

- 여러분을 높이려고 내가 나 자신을 낮추면서 하느님의 복음을 아무 대가도 받지 않고 여러분에게 전한 것이 죄가 된단 말입니까?
- 나는 다른 교회들이 주는 삯을 받아가지고 여러분에게 봉사했습니다. 말하자면 다른 교회들의 것을 빼앗아 여러분을 도운 셈입니다.
- 내가 여러분과 함께 있을 때에 빈곤했지만 여러분 중 어느 누구에게도 폐를 끼친 일이 없습니다. 마케도니아에서 온 교우들이 나에게 필요한 것들을 다 공급해 주었기 때문입니다. 나는 여러분에게 조금도 짐이 되지 않으려고 애썼고 또 앞으로도 그럴 작정입니다.
- 나는 그리스도의 진리를 지니고 사는 사람으로서 확언합니다. 아카이아 지방에서는 나의 이 자랑스러운 일을 아무도 막지 못할 것입니다.

- Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

- For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
- And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
- Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

- 왜 내가 여러분에게 짐이 되지 않으려고 애썼겠습니까? 내가 여러분을 사랑하지 않기 때문에 그랬겠습니까? 아닙니다. 내가 여러분을 사랑한다는 것은 하느님께서도 알고 계십니다.
- 나는 앞으로도 지금까지 해온 대로 해 나가겠습니다. 그것은 우리와 같은 방식으로 일을 하고 있다고 자랑할 구실을 찾는 자들에게 그 구실을 주지 않기 위한 것입니다.
- 그런 자들은 거짓 사도이며 사람을 속여먹는 일꾼이며 그리스도의 사도로 가장하는 자들입니다.
- 그러나 그것은 조금도 놀라운 일이 아닙니다. 사탄도 빛의 천사의 탈을 쓰고 나타나지 않습니까?
- 이렇게 사탄의 일꾼들이 정의의 일꾼으로 가장하고 나선다 해도 조금도 놀라울 것이 없습니다. 그들의 행실에 따라 그들의 최후가 결정될 것입니다.
