- But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
- For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
- For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
- But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
- Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

- 주 예수께서 허락하신다면 나는 디모테오를 여러분에게 어서 보내고 싶습니다. 그래서 그 편에 여러분의 소식을 들으면 내 마음도 기쁘겠습니다.
- 나와 같은 마음으로 여러분의 일을 진심으로 걱정해 주는 사람은 그 사람밖에 없습니다.
- 모두들 자기 일만 돌보고 예수 그리스도의 일은 아랑곳하지 않습니다.
- 그러나 디모테오는 여러분도 잘 알다시피 흠잡을 데 없는 사람으로 자식이 아버지를 섬기듯 나를 섬기면서 복음을 위하여 함께 일해 왔습니다.
- 그러니 내가 디모테오를 보낼 수 있는 형편이 되면 곧 그를 보낼 생각입니다.

- But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
- Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
- For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
- For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
- I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

- 그리고 주님께서 허락하신다면 나도 곧 가게 되리라고 믿습니다.
- 그러나 나는 내 형제 에바프로디도를 먼저 여러분에게 돌려보내야 한다고 생각했습니다. 그는 여러분이 보낸 사절로서 내가 손이 모자랄 때 나를 돕고 섬긴 동료요 전우입니다.
- 그는 여러분 모두를 몹시 보고 싶어할 뿐만 아니라 자기가 병으로 고생했다는 소식이 여러분에게 전해진 것을 알고 매우 안타까워하고 있습니다.
- 사실 그는 병이 나서 죽을 뻔했으나 지금은 하느님의 자비로 다 나았습니다. 하느님께서는 그에게뿐만 아니라 나에게도 자비를 베푸셔서 나에게 겹치는 슬픔을 면하게 해주셨습니다.
- 그래서 나는 더욱 서둘러서 그를 보냅니다. 여러분은 그를 다시 만나 기뻐하게 될 것이며 나도 걱정을 덜게 될 것입니다.

- Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
- Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

- 그러므로 여러분은 주님을 믿는 같은 형제로서 그를 기쁘게 맞이하고 또 그러한 사람들을 존경하십시오.
- 그는 여러분이 나에게 미처 해주지 못한 것을 해주려고 목숨을 걸고 그리스도를 위하여 일하다가 죽을 고비를 겪은 사람입니다.
