- The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
- He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
- But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.
- Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.
- Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?

- 올바른 사람이 망해도 아랑곳하지 않고, 경건한 사람이 사라져도 눈 하나 깜박이지 않는다마는, 올바른 사람이 사라지는 것은 실상은 재앙을 벗어나
- 평화를 누리러 가는 것이다. 올곧게 사는 사람은 모두 자기 잠자리에 누워 편히 쉬리라.
- 너희, 점쟁이의 자식들아, 썩 나가거라. 간통의 씨, 매춘부의 종자야.
- 너희가 누구를 빈정거리느냐? 입을 비쭉거리며 혀를 내밀고 누구를 놀리느냐? 너희는 죄악의 씨, 사생아가 아니냐?
- 너희는 느티나무 그늘 아래에서, 모든 푸른 나무 밑에서 색을 탐하지 않았느냐? 이 골짜기 저 골짜기에서, 갈라진 바위 밑에서, 자식들을 잡아 희생제물로 바치지 않았느냐?

- Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
- Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
- Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
- And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.
- Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

- 너는 개울바닥의 매끈한 돌기둥들을 네 것으로 삼았다. 그 돌들이, 그 돌들이 너의 몫이었지. 너는 거기에다 술을 따르고 곡식을 바쳤다. 내가 그런 것을 기뻐할 줄 알았느냐?
- 높이 솟은 산 위에 올라 잠자리를 펴다니, 거기까지 올라가 제사를 드리다니,
- 너는 문설주 뒤에 너의 남신상을 모셔놓고 나를 배신하여 옷을 벗고 올라가 자리를 폈다. 그리고 네가 좋아하는 자들에게서 화대를 받고 질탕하게 놀아났다.
- 너는 몰록 앞에 나타나기 위하여 온갖 향수를 뿌리고 기름을 발랐으며 저 먼 나라로 사절들을 보냈다. 저승에까지도 내려보냈다.
- 지치도록 여행을 하고서도 그만둘 생각을 않는구나. 고단한 줄도 모르게 뚝심이 뻗쳐나는구나.

- And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?
- I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.
- When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;
- And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
- For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

- 누가 무섭고 두려워서 네가 나를 배신하느냐? 나를 생각도 아니하고 마음에 두지도 않느냐? 내가 눈감아주지 않고 꾸짖더냐? 그렇다고 해서 네가 나를 두려워하지 않다니!
- 네가 잘했다고 으스댄다마는 그것이 너에게 아무 도움도 되지 못하리라. 내가 네 소행을 밝히고 말 터이다.
- 네가 소리질러도 네가 모은 우상이 너를 구해 주지는 못한다. 그것은 다 바람에 날려가고, 입김에 사라지리라. 그러나 나를 믿고 바라는 사람은 땅을 유산으로 받고 나의 거룩한 산을 상속받으리라.
- 또 말씀하신다. "길을 훤히 닦고 또 닦아라. 내 백성이 갈 길에서 걸림돌을 치워버려라."
- 지극히 높으신 이, 보좌에 영원히 앉아 계시는 이, 거룩하신 분이라 불리는 이께서 말씀하신다. "나는 높고 거룩한 보좌에 앉아 있으면서도 얻어맞아 용기를 잃은 사람들과 함께 살며 잃은 용기를 되살려주고, 상한 마음을 아물게 해주리라.

- For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
- For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.
- I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
- I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
- But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

- 내가 언제까지나 따지기만 하랴? 항상 노여워하기만 하랴? 사람은 나에게서 용기를 얻고 나에게서 생명의 숨결을 받는다.
- 그들이 너무 못되게 욕심부리므로 나는 성이 났다. 화가 나서 그들을 치고 얼굴을 돌렸다. 그래도 배신하고 제멋대로 가버릴 때
- 나는 그들이 어디로 가는지 눈여겨보았다. 내가 그들의 병을 고쳐주며 위로하고 한껏 격려해 주리라.
- 슬피 울던 입술에서 이런 찬미가 터져 나오게 하리라. '태평천하일세, 태평천하일세. 멀리도 가까이도 태평천하일세.'" 야훼께서 약속해 주셨다. "내가 너를 고쳐주마."
- 그러나 악인들은 성난 바다 같아 가라앉을 줄을 모른다. 쓰레기와 진흙을 밀어 올리는 물결과 같다.

- There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

- "그러니 악인들에게 무슨 평화가 있으랴?" 나의 하느님께서 말씀하신다.
