- For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
- And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
- Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
- In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
- And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

- 내가 우리 집 창에 기대어 창살문으로 거리를 내다보았더니
- 어수룩한 젊은이들 가운데 한 지각없는 철부지가 눈에 띄더라.
- 골목을 지나 탕녀가 사는 길 모퉁이를 서성대다가 그 집 쪽으로 발길을 옮기는데
- 해가 지고 땅거미가 깔리며 어두운 밤이 되자
- 엉큼한 계집이 창녀처럼 치장하고 그 앞을 막아 서더라.

- (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
- Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
- So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
- I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
- Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

- 그 계집은 집에 붙어 있을 생각은 않고, 들떠서 수선을 피우며
- 이 거리 저 장터에서 길목마다 지켜섰다가
- 그 젊은이를 붙잡고 입을 맞추며 부끄러워하지도 않고 이렇게 말하더라.
- "저는 오늘 친교제를 드려 서원을 이행했답니다.
- 그래서 당신을 맞으러 나와 이렇게 당신을 만났군요.

- I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
- I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
- Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
- For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
- He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

- 제 침대에는 요를 펴고 이집트 산 화려한 천을 깔아놓았답니다.
- 자리엔 몰약에다 침향과 육계향을 뿌렸지요.
- 가서 밤새도록 놀며 한껏 사랑에 취해 봅시다.
- 남편은 멀리 길을 떠나 집에 없답니다.
- 돈주머니를 가지고 떠났으니 보름 안에는 오지 않을 거예요."

- With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
- He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
- Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
- Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
- Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

- 이렇게 달콤한 말로 꾀고 꿀맛 같은 말로 유혹하자
- 젊은이가 따라 나서는데 마치 푸줏간에 끌려가는 소와도 같이, 올가미에 걸려드는 사슴같이,
- 제 발로 창애에 걸려드는 새 꼴이 되어 언제 목숨을 잃을지도 모르고 따라가다가 결국에는 화살이 박히고야 말더라.
- 이제 너희는 내 말을 들어라. 내 입에서 떨어지는 말을 명심하여라.
- 아들들아, 그런 계집을 따라갈 마음을 먹지 말고 그 길에서 헤매지도 마라.

- For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
- Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

- 그 계집이 얼마나 많은 사람을 쓰러뜨린 줄 아느냐? 그에게 희생된 사람은 셀 수도 없다.
- 그런 계집의 집은 지옥으로 통하는 길이라 죽음의 방으로 내려가게 된다.
