- For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
- For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
- And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
- (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
- By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

- 전에 있던 율법의 규정은 무력하고 무익했기 때문에 폐기되었습니다.
- 율법은 아무것도 완전하게 하지 못했습니다. 그래서 하느님께서는 더 좋은 희망을 주셨고 우리는 그 희망을 안고 하느님께 가까이 나아가는 것입니다.
- 하느님께서는 맹세까지 하시면서 그분을 사제로 세워주셨습니다. 다른 사람들이 사제가 될 때에는 하느님께서 맹세하신 일이 없었지만
- 이분을 두고는 맹세하셨다는 기록이 있습니다. "'너는 영원한 사제다.' 하고 주님께서 맹세하셨다. 그리고 그 맹세는 변하지 않을 것이다."
- 그러므로 예수께서는 더 나은 계약을 보증해 주시는 분이 되셨습니다.

- And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
- But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
- Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
- For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
- Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

- 다른 사제들은 누구나 다 죽게 마련이어서 한 사람이 사제직을 계속해서 맡아볼 수가 없으니 결국 사제의 수효가 많아졌습니다.
- 그러나 예수께서는 영원히 사시는 분이므로 그분의 사제직은 영구한 것입니다.
- 이렇게 예수께서는 항상 살아 계셔서 그들을 위하여 중재자의 일을 하시니 당신으로 말미암아 하느님께 나아오는 사람들을 언제나 구원해 주실 수 있으십니다.
- 우리에게는 이렇게 거룩하고 순결하고 흠도 죄도 없고 하늘보다 더 높으신 대사제가 필요합니다.
- 다른 대사제들은 날마다 먼저 자기들의 죄를 용서받으려고 희생제물을 드리고 그 다음으로 백성들을 위해서 그렇게 합니다. 그러나 그분은 날마다 그럴 필요는 없습니다. 그분은 당신 자신을 속죄제물로 바치심으로써 이 일을 한번에 다 이루신 것입니다.

- For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

- 율법을 따라 대사제가 된 사람들은 연약한 인간이지만 율법이 생긴 이후에 하느님의 맹세의 말씀을 따라 대사제가 되신 그분은 하느님의 아들이시고 영원히 완전하신 분이십니다.
