- Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
- Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
- For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
- Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
- For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

- 끝으로 말합니다. 여러분은 모두 한마음을 품고 서로 동정하고 서로 형제처럼 사랑하며 자비심을 가지고 겸손한 사람들이 되십시오.
- 악을 악으로 갚거나 욕을 욕으로 갚지 말고 도리어 축복해 주십시오. 그러기 위해서 여러분이 부르심을 받았습니다. 그렇게 하면 여러분은 하느님께서 약속하신 축복을 받게 될 것입니다. 성서에 이런 말씀이 있습니다.
- "생명을 사랑하고 행복한 날을 보려는 사람은 모름지기 혀를 다스려 악한 말을 못하게 하고 입술을 다물고 거짓말을 못하게 해야 한다.
- 그는 악을 멀리하고 착한 일을 하며 평화를 힘써 찾아야 한다.
- 주님은 올바른 사람들을 굽어보시고 그들의 간구를 들어주신다. 그러나 악을 행하는 자들은 노려보신다."

- And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
- But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
- But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
- Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
- For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

- 여러분이 선한 일에 열성을 낸다면 누가 여러분을 해치겠습니까?
- 그러나 만일 여러분이 옳은 일을 하다가 고난을 받는다 해도 여러분은 행복합니다. 사람들이 여러분을 협박하더라도 무서워하거나 흔들리지 마십시오.
- 여러분의 마음속에 그리스도를 주님으로 우러러 모시고 여러분이 간직하고 있는 희망에 대해서 설명을 듣고 싶어하는 사람들에게는 언제라도 답변할 수 있도록 준비해 두십시오.
- 그러나 답변을 할 때에는 부드러운 태도로 조심스럽게 해야 합니다. 여러분은 언제나 깨끗한 양심을 지니고 사십시오. 그러면 그리스도를 믿는 여러분의 착한 행실을 헐뜯던 자들이 바로 그 일로 부끄러움을 당하게 될 것입니다.
- 선을 행하다가 고난을 당하는 것이 하느님의 뜻이라면 악을 행하다가 고통을 당하는 것보다야 얼마나 낫겠습니까?

- For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
- By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
- Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
- The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
- Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

- 그리스도께서도 여러분의 죄 때문에 죽으셨습니다. 죄 없으신 분이 죄인을 위해서 죽으신 것입니다. 그리스도께서는 단 한 번 죽으심으로써 여러분의 죄를 용서해 주시고 하느님께로 인도해 주셨습니다. 그리스도께서는 몸으로는 죽으셨지만 영적으로는 다시 사셨습니다.
- 이리하여 그리스도께서는 갇혀 있는 영혼들에게도 가셔서 기쁜 소식을 선포하셨습니다.
- 그들은 옛날에 노아가 방주를 만들었을 때 하느님께서 오래 참고 기다리셨지만 끝내 순종하지 않던 자들입니다. 그 방주에 들어가 물에 빠지지 않고 구원을 받은 사람은 겨우 여덟 사람뿐이었습니다.
- 그것은 오늘날 여러분에게 구원을 가져다 주는 세례를 미리 보여준 것입니다. 세례는 몸에서 더러운 때를 벗기는 것이 아니라 깨끗한 양심으로 살겠다고 하느님께 서약을 하는 것이며 예수 그리스도의 부활로써 이루어지는 것입니다.
- 예수 그리스도께서는 하늘에 올라가셔서 하느님의 오른편에 계시며 천사들과 세력과 능력의 천신들을 당신에게 복종시키셨습니다.
