- Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
- Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
- Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
- For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
- But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

- 여호와여, 악인들을 당황하게 하시고 그들의 말을 혼란하게 하소서. 내가 성 안에서 폭력과 투쟁이 있음을 보았습니다.
- 그들이 밤낮 성벽 위를 돌아다니므로 성 안에는 죄악과 악습이 도사리고 있습니다.
- 그 곳은 폭력이 판을 치고 거리에는 협박과 사기 행위가 떠날 날이 없습니다.
- 나를 조롱한 자가 내 원수였다면 내가 그것을 참을 수 있었으리라. 나에게 거드름을 피우는 자가 나의 대적이었다면 내가 그를 피하여 숨을 수 있었으리라.
- 그러나 그는 바로 너였다. 나의 동료요 나의 동무이며 나의 가까운 친구가 아닌가!
