여호수아 21:27-22:34

 게르손과 므라리 자손이 얻은 성읍들이 기록되어 있다. 정복 전쟁이 그치고 영토 분배가 종료되자 여호수아는 요단 동편 지파들에게 귀향을 명령했다. 자기의 기업으로 돌아가던 르우벤, 갓, 므낫세 반 지파의 사람들이 요단 강변에 큰 단을 쌓았다. 우상 숭배를 위해 단을 세운 것으로 오해한 이스라엘 백성들은 크게 분노했지만 그들의 해명을 듣고 오해를 풀었다.
  
  게르손·므라리의 성읍(21:27-21:45)    
 
  1. And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with her suburbs; two cities.
  2. And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs,
  3. Jarmuth with her suburbs, Engannim with her suburbs; four cities.
  4. And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs,
  5. Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.
  1. 레위 지파의 다른 집안인 게르손 자손은 세 지파 반에게서 성을 얻었다. 그들이 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 바산의 골란과 브-에스드라와 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 2개의 성이며,

  1. And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.
  2. All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
  3. And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
  4. Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.
  5. And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs,
  1. 납달리 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 갈릴리의 게데스와 함못-돌과 가르단과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 3개의 성이었다.
  2. 이상 13개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 게르손 자손이 얻은 것이다.
  3. 레위 지파의 나머지 집안인 므라리 자손은 세 지파에게서 성을 얻었다. 그들이 스불론 지파에게서 얻은 것은 욕느암과 가르다와
  4. 딤나와 나할랄과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이며
  5. 르우벤 지파에게서 얻은 것은 베셀과 야하스와
  1. Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.
  2. And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,
  3. Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.
  4. So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
  5. All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
  1. 그데못과 므바앗과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
  2. 그리고 그들이 갓 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 길르앗의 라못과 마하나임과
  3. 헤스본과 야셀과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
  4. 이상 12개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 레위 지파의 므라리 자손이 얻은 것이다.
  5. 이스라엘 백성의 각 지파가 소유한 땅 중에서 레위 지파가 얻은 것은 모두 48개의 성과 목초지인데
  1. These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.
  2. And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
  3. And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
  4. There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
  1. 모든 성의 주변에 이와 같은 목초지가 딸려 있었다.
  2. 이와 같이 여호와께서 이스라엘 조상들에게 주겠다고 약속한 땅을 하나도 남김없이 모두 이스라엘 백성에게 주셨으므로 그들이 그 땅을 점령하고 거기에 정착하였다.
  3. 그래서 여호와께서는 그들의 조상들에게 약속한 대로 그들의 온 땅에서 평안을 누리게 하셨다. 여호와께서 그들의 모든 원수들을 그들의 손에 넘겨 주셨으므로 그들을 당해 낼 대적이 하나도 없었다.
  4. 이렇게 해서 이스라엘 백성에게 약속한 여호와의 모든 선한 일이 그대로 이루어졌다.
 
  요단 동편 지파의 귀향(22:1-22:34)    
 
  1. Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
  2. And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:
  3. Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
  4. And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.
  5. But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  1. 그때 여호수아가 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파를 불러 놓고
  2. 그들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '여러분은 여호와의 종 모세가 명령한 것을 지키고 또 나의 모든 명령에도 순종하여
  3. 이렇게 오랫동안 여러분의 형제들을 떠나지 않고 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 명령하신 일을 책임껏 수행하였습니다.
  4. 이제 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 약속하신 대로 여러분의 형제들에게 평안을 주셨습니다. 그러므로 지금 여러분은 여호와의 종 모세가 요단강 저 편에서 여러분에게 준 그 땅으로 돌아가십시오.
  5. 그리고 여호와의 종 모세가 여러분에게 준 계명과 율법을 성실히 준수하고 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 사랑하며 그분의 뜻대로 살고 그의 명령에 순종하십시오. 여러분은 그분에게 충성하며 마음을 다하고 정성을 다하여 그분을 섬겨야 합니다.'
  1. So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
  2. Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,
  3. And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
  4. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
  5. And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.
  1. 그런 다음 여호수아가 그들을 축복하고 돌려보내자 그들은 자기들 땅으로 돌아갔다.

  3. '이제 여러분은 가축과 금, 은, 동, 철과 의복을 포함한 수많은 재물을 가지고 여러분의 땅으로 돌아가게 되었습니다. 여러분이 돌아가거든 원수들에게서 빼앗은 이 모든 재물을 여러분의 형제들과 나누어 가지십시오.'
  4. 그래서 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파과 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파는 가나안 땅 실로에서 이스라엘 자손을 떠나 여호와께서 모세에게 내린 명령에 따라 그들이 얻게 된 길르앗 땅으로 떠났다.
  5. 그들은 요단강을 건너기 직전, 아직 가나안 땅에 있을 때에 강가에 굉장히 큰 단 하나를 쌓았다.
  1. And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
  2. And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
  3. And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
  4. And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
  5. And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying,
  1. 이때 요단강 서쪽에 남은 이스라엘 백성이 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파가 행한 일을 듣게 되었다.
  2. 그래서 그들은 실로에 군대를 모으고 그들의 형제 지파들과 싸울 준비를 하였다.
  3. 그러나 그들은 먼저 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스가 이끄는 대표단을 강 건너 길르앗 땅의 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파에게 보냈다.
  4. 그 대표단은 각 지파에서 뽑힌 10명의 지도자들로 구성되어 있었으며 그들은 자기 집안의 어른들이었다.
  5. 그들이 길르앗 땅에 도착하여 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파에게 나아가
  1. Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?
  2. Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,
  3. But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.
  4. Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.
  5. Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
  1. 여호와의 모든 백성을 대신하여 이렇게 말하였다. '당신들은 어째서 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 이런 악한 짓을 하였소? 당신들은 여호와를 떠나 자신들을 위해 단을 쌓고 여호와를 거역하였소!
  2. 당신들은 브올에서 범한 우리 죄를 기억하지도 못하시오? 그 죄로 인해 여호와께서 자기 백성을 재앙으로 벌하셔서 오늘날까지 우리가 그 죄 때문에 고통을 당하고 있지 않소? 그런데 그것도 부족해서
  3. 지금 당신들은 여호와를 떠날 작정이오? 만일 당신들이 오늘 여호와를 거역하면 내일은 그분이 이스라엘 모든 백성을 벌하실 것이오.
  4. 그러므로 당신들이 소유한 땅이 마음에 들지 않으면 여호와의 성막이 있는 우리 땅으로 건너와서 당신들의 땅을 얻도록 하시오. 그러나 당신들은 우리 하나님 여호와의 단 외에 다른 단을 쌓아 여호와나 우리를 거역하는 일이 있어서는 안 될 것이오.
  5. 세라의 자손인 아간이 가져서는 안 될 물건에 손을 대어 여호와의 명령에 불순종했을 때 죄를 지은 아간 자신은 말할 것도 없고 그 일로 이스라엘 백성 전체가 여호와에게 벌을 받았던 일을 기억하지 못하시오?'
  1. Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,
  2. The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)
  3. That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;
  4. And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?
  5. For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.
  1. 이때 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파가 요단강 서쪽의 이스라엘 각 지파 대표들에게 이렇게 대답하였다.
  2. '전능하신 하나님 여호와께서는 왜 우리가 이렇게 했는지 그 이유를 다 알고 계십니다. 그래서 우리는 당신들도 알기를 바랍니다. 만일 우리가 이 일로 여호와를 거역하였거나 죄를 범하였으면 우리를 더 이상 살려 두지 않아도 좋습니다.
  3. 우리가 단을 쌓은 것이 여호와를 저버리거나 그 위에 번제와 소제와 화목제와 같은 제사를 드릴 목적이었다면 여호와께서 직접 우리에게 벌하시기를 원합니다.
  4. 우리가 그렇게 한 것은 훗날 당신들의 후손들이 우리 후손에게 너희와 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와와 무슨 관계가 있느냐?
  5. 여호와께서 너희와 우리 사이에 요단강으로 경계를 삼으시지 않았느냐? 너희는 여호와 하나님과 아무 관계도 없다! 하고 당신들의 후손들이 우리 후손들에게 여호와를 경배하지 못하도록 할까 두려워했기 때문입니다.
  1. Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:
  2. But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.
  3. Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.
  4. God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.
  5. And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.
  1. 그래서 우리가 단을 쌓았는데 이것은 번제나 화목제를 드리기 위해서가 아니라 이 단이
  2. 우리와 당신들 사이에, 그리고 우리 후손들과 당신들의 후손들 사이에 우리도 여호와 하나님 앞에서 번제와 화목제와 그 밖의 다른 제사로 여호와를 섬긴다는 것을 보여 주는 증거가 되어 훗날 당신들의 후손들이 우리 후손들에게 너희는 여호와 우리 하나님과 아무 관계가 없다고 하는 말을 못하도록 하기 위해서입니다.
  3. 그래서 앞으로 만일 이런 일이 일어나면 우리 후손들이 와서 우리 조상들이 여호와의 단을 본떠서 쌓은 이 단을 보아라! 이것은 번제나 다른 제사를 위한 것이 아니라 우리와 너희 사이에 하나의 증거가 되게 하기 위해서이다 하고 말할 수 있을 것입니다.
  4. 우리는 결코 번제나 소제나 다른 제사를 드릴 목적으로 성막 앞에 있는 우리 하나님 여호와의 단 외에 다른 단을 쌓아 여호와를 저버리거나 여호와를 거역하려고 했던 것이 아닙니다.'
  5. 제사장 비느하스와 그와 함께 간 이스라엘 각 지파의 대표들이 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파의 말을 듣고 좋게 생각하였다.
  1. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.
  2. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
  3. And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.
  4. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.
  1. 그래서 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스가 그들에게 말하였다. '이제야 여호와께서 우리와 함께 계신 줄을 알겠소. 당신들은 여호와를 거역한 것이 아니라 오히려 이스라엘 백성을 여호와의 형벌에서 구해낸 셈이 되었소!'
  2. 그리고서 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스와 그와 함께 간 지도자들은 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파와 작별하고 길르앗 땅을 떠나 가나안 땅으로 돌아와서 이스라엘 백성에게 사실대로 보고하였다.
  3. 이스라엘 백성은 그들의 보고를 듣고 만족하게 여기며 하나님을 찬양하고 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손을 치러 가자는 말을 두 번 다시 입밖에 내지 않았다.
  4. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손은 '이 단이 우리 사이에 여호와께서 하나님이 되시는 증거이다.' 하고 그것을 '증거의 단'이라고 불렀다
