- Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
- But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
- To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
- And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
- And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

- 예수님은 계속해서 말씀하셨다. '내가 분명히 너희에게 말한다. 문으로 양의 우리에 들어가지 않고 다른데로 넘어가는 사람은 도둑이며 강도이다.
- 문으로 들어가는 사람은 양의 목자이다.
- 문지기는 그에게 문을 열어 주고 양들은 목자의 음성을 알아듣는다. 그리고 목자는 자기 양들의 이름을 하나하나 불러서 데리고 나간다.
- 양떼를 다 불러낸 후에 목자가 앞서 가면 양들은 그의 음성을 알고 뒤따라간다.
- 그러나 양들은 낯선 사람의 음성은 모르기 때문에 따라가지 않고 피해서 달아난다.'

- This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
- Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
- All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
- I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

- 예수님은 그들에게 이 비유를 말씀해 주셨으나 그들은 예수님의 말씀이 무엇을 뜻하는지 이해하지 못했다.
- 그래서 예수님은 다시 말씀하셨다. '내가 너희에게 분명히 말한다. 나는 양의 문이다.
- 나보다 먼저 온 사람은 모두 도둑이며 강도이다. 그러므로 양들이 그들의 말을 듣지 않았다.
- 나는 문이다. 누구든지 나를 통해 들어가면 구원을 받고 마음대로 드나들며 꼴을 얻을 것이다.
- 도둑이 오는 것은 양을 훔쳐다가 죽여 없애려는 것뿐이다. 그러나 내가 온 것은 양들이 생명을 얻되 더욱 풍성히 얻도록 하기 위해서이다.

- I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
- But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
- The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
- I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
- As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

- 나는 선한 목자이다. 선한 목자는 양을 위해 자기 생명을 바친다.
- 삯꾼은 목자가 아니고 양도 자기 양이 아니므로 이리가 오는 것을 보면 양을 버리고 달아난다. 그래서 이리가 양들을 물어가고 양떼를 흩어 버린다.
- 그가 달아나는 것은 삯꾼이므로 양들에게 관심이 없기 때문이다.
- 나는 선한 목자이다. 나는 내 양을 알고 내 양도 나를 안다.
- 이것은 아버지께서 나를 아시고 내가 아버지를 아는 것과 같다. 그래서 나는 양들을 위해 내 생명을 버린다.

- And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
- Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
- No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
- There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
- And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

- 또 내게는 우리 안에 들어 있지 않은 다른 양들도 있다. 나는 그들을 데려와야 한다. 그 양들도 내 음성을 듣고 한 목자 아래서 한 무리가 될 것이다.
- 아버지께서 나를 사랑하시는 이유는 내가 생명을 다시 얻으려고 내 생명을 버리기 때문이다.
- 이 생명을 내게서 빼앗아 갈 자는 없지만 내가 스스로 버린다. 나에게는 생명을 버릴 권한도 있고 다시 가질 권한도 있다. 이것은 내 아버지에게서 받은 특권이다.'
- 이 말씀 때문에 유대인들 사이에 또 의견이 엇갈렸다.
- 그들 중에 많은 사람이 '그는 귀선 들려 미쳤는데 어째서 그 사람의 말을 듣고 있소?' 하였고

- Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

- 또 어떤 사람들은 '이것은 귀신 들린 사람의 말이 아니오. 귀신이 어떻게 소경의 눈을 뜨게 할 수 있겠소?' 하였다.
