- If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
- If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
- Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
- Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
- My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

- 만일 그의 자손이 내 법을 어기고 내 지시에 순종하지 않으며
- 내 교훈을 무시하고 내 명령을 지키지 않으면
- 내가 막대기로 그들의 죄를 벌하고 채찍으로 그들의 죄를 다스릴 것이다.
- 그러나 내가 그에게서 내 사랑과 신실함을 거두지 않고
- 그와 맺은 계약을 어기거나 그에게 한 약속을 변경하지 않을 것이다.
