- (솔로몬의 시. 성전에 올라가는 노래) 여호와께서 집을 세우시지 않으시면 건축자들의 수고가 헛되고 여호와께서 성을 지키지 않으시면 파수병이 보초를 서도 헛일이다.
- 아침 일찍 일어나고 밤늦게 자면서 고달프게 벌어 먹고 사는 것도 헛된 일이다. 그래서 여호와께서는 자기가 사랑하는 자에게 잠을 주신다.
- 자녀는 여호와께서 주신 선물이며 상급으로 주신 그의 축복이다.
- 젊었을 때 낳은 자식은 용사의 손 안에 있는 화살 같아서
- 그런 화살이 많은 사람은 행복하다. 그가 법정에서 자기 원수를 만나도 수치를 당하지 않으리라.
