- Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
- Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
- Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
- Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
- Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

- 그때 여호와께서 폭풍 가운데서 욥에게 말씀하셨다.
- '무식한 말로 내 뜻을 흐리게 하는 자가 누구냐?
- 이제 너는 남자답게 일어나 내가 묻는 말에 대답하라.
- 내가 땅에 기초를 놓을 때에 너는 어디 있었느냐? 네가 그렇게 많이 알면 한번 말해 보아라.
- 누가 그 크기를 정하였으며 누가 그 위에 측량줄을 대어 보았는지 너는 알고 있느냐?

- Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
- When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
- Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
- When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
- And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

- 땅의 기초를 받치고 있는 것이 무엇이냐? 새벽 별들이 함께 노래하며 하늘의 천사들이 기뻐 외치는 가운데 땅의 모퉁이 돌을 놓은 자가 누구냐?
- (6절과 같음)
- 바닷물이 깊은 곳에서 쏟아져 나올 때 누가 그 물을 막아 바다의 한계를 정하였느냐?
- 그때 구름으로 바다를 덮고 흑암으로 그것을 감싸며 해안으로 그 한계를 정하여 '네가 여기까지만 오고 그 이상은 넘어가지 못한다. 너 교만한 물결은 여기서 멈춰라' 하고 말한 자는 바로 나였다.

- And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
- Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
- That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
- It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
- And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

- 네가 지금까지 한 번이라도 아침이 되라고 명령하여 동이 트게 한 적이 있느냐?
- 네가 땅 끝까지 새벽 빛이 비치게 하여 악인들이 악을 멈추게 한 일이 있느냐?
- 동이 트자 땅이 진흙이 도장을 친 것처럼 나타나고 그 모양은 주름잡힌 옷과 같으며
- 그 빛은 악인들에게 너무 밝아 그들의 폭행을 저지한다.

- Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
- Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
- Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
- Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
- That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

- 네가 바다 근원에 들어가 보았느냐? 네가 바다 밑바닥을 걸어 다녀 보았느냐?
- 죽음의 문이 너에게 나타난 적이 있으며 네가 사망의 그늘진 문을 본 적이 있느냐?
- 땅이 얼마나 넓은지 네가 이해할 수 있겠느냐? 네가 알면 나에게 말해 보아라.
- 빛은 어디서 오며 어두움의 근원은 무엇인지 네가 알고 있느냐?
- 너는 빛과 어두움의 범위가 얼마나 되는지 알고 있으며 그 근원까지 가는 길을 아느냐?

- Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
- Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
- Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
- By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
- Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

- 네가 나이를 많이 먹었으니 알고 있을지도 모르겠다.
- 너는 눈 창고에 가 본 일이 있으며 우박 창고를 본 일이 있느냐?
- 나는 이것들을 환난 때나 전쟁시를 위해서 저장해 놓았다.
- 너는 빛이 확산되는 지점과 동풍이 땅으로 흩어지는 지점에 가 본 일이 있느냐?
- 폭우가 흘러 내려가는 골짜기 길을 누가 만들었으며 번개가 다니는 길을 누가 만들었느냐?

- To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
- To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
- Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
- Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
- The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

- 누가 사람이 살지 않는 곳에 비를 내리며
- 메마른 땅을 축축하게 하여 풀이 나게 하는가?
- 비에게도 아비가 있느냐? 이슬 방울은 누가 낳았느냐?
- 얼음과 서리의 어미는 누구냐?
- 이것 때문에 물이 돌같이 굳어지고 해면이 얼게 된다.

- Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
- Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
- Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
- Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
- Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

- 네가 묘성을 한데 묶어 놓을 수 있으며 오리온 별자리의 띠를 풀어 놓을 수 있겠느냐?
- 네가 계절마다 제때에 별을 이끌어낼 수 있으며 곰자리를 인도할 수 있겠느냐?
- 네가 하늘의 법칙을 알고 그 법칙이 땅에 적용될 수 있도록 하겠느냐?
- 너는 구름에게 큰 소리로 명령하여 그것이 비가 되어 네 위에 내리게 할 수 있겠느냐?
- 네가 번개를 보내 그것으로 네가 가리키는 곳을 치게 할 수 있느냐?

- Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
- Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
- When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
- Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
- When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

- 누가 마음에 지혜와 깨닫는 마음을 주었느냐?
- 구름을 셀 수 있을 만큼 지혜로운 자가 누구며 하늘의 물병을 쏟아
- 먼지나 티끌이 덩어리가 되게 할 수 있는 자가 누구냐?
- 너는 사자들이 굴에 엎드려 있거나 숲속에 누워 기다리고 있을 때 그들의 먹이를 사냥하여 그 새끼들의 굶주린 배를 채워 줄 수 있겠느냐?

- Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

- 까마귀 새끼가 배가 고파 버둥거리며 나를 향해 부르짖을 때 그것들을 위해서 먹을 것을 마련해 주는 자가 누구냐?
