- But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
- Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
- Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
- For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
- But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

- 형제 여러분, 그러나 여러분은 어두움 가운데 있지 않기 때문에 그 날이 여러분에게 도둑처럼 닥치지는 않을 것입니다.
- 여러분은 모두 빛의 자녀들이며 낮의 자녀들입니다. 우리는 밤이나 어두움에 속하지 않았습니다.
- 그러므로 우리는 다른 사람들처럼 잠자고 있을 것이 아니라 깨어 정신을 차려야 합니다.
- 잠자는 사람들은 밤에 자고 술 마시는 사람들도 밤에 마시고 취합니다.
- 그러나 우리는 낮에 속하였으므로 정신을 똑바로 차리고 믿음과 사랑과 구원의 희망으로 완전 무장합시다.

- For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
- Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
- Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
- And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
- And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

- 하나님이 우리를 택하신 것은 벌하시기 위한 것이 아니라 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통해 우리가 구원을 얻도록 하기 위한 것입니다.
- 예수님은 우리가 깨든지 자든지 자기와 함께 살게 하려고 우리를 위해 죽으셨습니다.
- 그러므로 여러분은 지금까지 생활해 온 그대로 서로 격려하며 도와주십시오.
- 형제 여러분, 주님을 섬기는 일에 여러분을 지도하고 가르치는 분들의 수고를 잊지 마십시오.
- 여러분을 위해 일하는 그들을 존경하고 사랑하며 서로 화목하게 지내십시오.

- Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
- See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
- Rejoice evermore.
- Pray without ceasing.
- In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

- 그리고 제멋대로 사는 사람들을 훈계하고 마음이 약한 사람들을 격려하며 힘이 없는 사람들을 도와 주고 모든 사람들을 인내로 대하십시오.
- 누구에게나 악으로 악을 갚지 말고 여러분 자신과 모든 사람을 위해 언제나 선을 추구하십시오.
- 항상 기뻐하십시오.
- 쉬지 말고 기도하십시오.
- 모든 일에 감사하십시오. 이것은 그리스도 예수님 안에서 여러분을 위한 하나님의 뜻입니다.

- Quench not the Spirit.
- Despise not prophesyings.
- Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
- Abstain from all appearance of evil.
- And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- 성령님의 활동을 제한하지 말며
- 예언을 멸시하지 마십시오.
- 모든 것을 잘 살펴 선한 것은 붙잡고
- 악한 것은 흉내도 내지 마십시오.
- 평화의 하나님이 여러분을 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오실 때 여러분의 영과 혼과 몸을 흠 없이 완전하게 지켜 주시기를 기도합니다.

- Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
- Brethren, pray for us.
- Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
- I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
- The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
