야고보서 1:19-2:13

 야고보는 말을 삼가할 것과 하나님의 말씀을 듣는 자가 실천해야 할 것을 권면하면서, 행동의 구체적인 내용으로 과부와 고아를 구제하고 모든 사람을 차별 없이 대할 것을 가르쳤다.
  
  말씀을 행하는 자(1:19-1:27)    
 
  1. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
  2. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
  3. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
  4. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
  5. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
  1. 사랑하는 형제 여러분, 이것을 명심하십시오. 누구든지 듣기는 속히 하고 말은 천천히 하며 함부로 성내지 마십시오.
  2. 인간적인 분노는 하나님의 의로운 뜻을 이루지 못합니다.
  3. 그러므로 여러분은 온갖 더러운 것과 악을 버리고 마음에 심겨진 하나님의 말씀을 겸손히 받아들이십시오. 그 말씀에는 여러분의 영혼을 구원할 수 있는 능력이 있습니다.
  4. 여러분은 말씀을 듣기만 하여 자신을 속이지 말고 말씀을 실천하는 사람이 되십시오.
  5. 말씀을 듣고도 실천하지 않는 사람은 거울에 자기 얼굴을 들여다보는 사람과 같습니다.
  1. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
  2. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
  3. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
  4. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
  1. 그는 자기 모양을 보고도 거울 앞에서 떠나면 곧 제 모습을 잊어버립니다.
  2. 그러나 자유를 주는 완전한 그리스도의 법을 마음 속에 새기고 그것을 지키는 사람은 듣고 잊어버리는 사람이 아니라 실천하는 사람입니다. 이런 사람은 그가 하는 일에 복을 받을 것입니다.
  3. 누구든지 믿는다고 하면서도 함부로 말을 내뱉으면 자기를 속이는 것이며 그의 믿음도 가치가 없습니다.
  4. 하나님 아버지 앞에서 깨끗하고 순수한 신앙은 어려운 처지에 있는 고아와 과부들을 돌봐 주고 자신을 지켜 세속에 물들지 않는 이것입니다.
 
  형제에 대한 바른 태도(2:1-2:13)    
 
  1. My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
  2. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
  3. And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
  4. Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
  5. Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
  1. 형제 여러분, 영광스러운 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 성도답게 여러분은 사람의 겉모양만 보지 마십시오.
  2. 교회에 금반지를 끼고 화려한 옷을 입은 사람과 남루한 옷을 입은 가난한 사람이 들어올 때
  3. 만일 여러분이 화려한 옷을 입은 사람은 좋은 자리에 앉히고 가난한 사람에게는 '거기 섰든지 내 발앞에 앉으시오.' 하고 푸대접한다면
  4. 사람을 차별하여 악한 생각으로 판단한 셈이 되지 않습니까?
  5. 사랑하는 형제 여러분, 내 말을 잘 들으십시오. 하나님은 세상의 가난한 사람들을 택하여 믿음에 부요하게 하시고 자기를 사랑하는 사람들에게 약속하신 나라를 그들이 소유하게 하지 않았습니까?
  1. But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
  2. Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
  3. If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
  4. But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
  5. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
  1. 그런데도 여러분은 가난한 사람들을 업신여기고 있습니다. 여러분을 괴롭히며 법정으로 끌어가는 사람들은 부자들이 아닙니까?
  2. 그들은 여러분에게 주어진 고귀한 이름을 모독하지 않았습니까?
  3. 만일 여러분이 성경이 기록되어 있는 대로 '네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라.' 하신 최고의 법을 지키면 잘하는 것입니다.
  4. 그러나 여러분이 사람의 겉모양만 보고 판단한다면 죄를 짓는 것이며 율법이 여러분을 범죄자로 선언할 것입니다.
  5. 누구든지 율법을 다 지키다가도 그 중에 하나를 어기면 율법 전부를 범한 것이 됩니다.
  1. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
  2. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
  3. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
  1. '간음하지 말아라.'고 하신 분이 '살인하지 말아라.'고도 하셨습니다. 그러므로 간음하지 않아도 살인하게 되면 율법을 범한 셈이 됩니다.
  2. 여러분은 자유를 주는 그리스도의 법에 따라 판단을 받게 된다는 것을 잊지 말고 늘 조심스럽게 말하고 행동하십시오.
  3. 자비를 베풀지 않는 사람에게는 자비 없는 심판이 있을 것입니다. 자비는 심판을 이깁니다.
