잠언 18:20-19:7

 성실하고 마음이 너그러운 자는 지혜가 있으나, 입술이 패려한 자나 야웨를 원망하는 자나 거짓 증언하는 자는 지혜가 없다.
  
 
  1. A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
  2. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
  3. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
  4. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
  5. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
  1. 사람은 말 한 마디 잘해서 만족을 얻는 일이 얼마든지 있다.
  2. 혀는 사람을 죽이기도 하고 살리기도 한다. 혀를 놀리기 좋아하는 사람은 반드시 그 댓가를 받는다.
  3. 아내를 얻는 사람은 좋은 것을 얻고 여호와께 은총을 받는 자이다.
  4. 가난한 사람은 간청하듯이 말하지만 부자는 거만하게 대답한다.
  5. 친구가 많으면 피해를 보는 경우도 있으나 그 중에는 형제보다 더 친한 친구도 있다.
 
 
  1. Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
  2. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
  3. The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
  4. Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
  5. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
  1. 가난하지만 진실하게 사는 사람이 입술이 거짓되고 미련한 사람보다 낫다.
  2. 지식 없는 열심은 좋지 못하고 성급한 사람은 잘못이 많다.
  3. 사람은 자기가 미련해서 앞길을 망치고서도 마음으로는 하나님을 원망한다.
  4. 부유하면 새로운 친구가 계속 늘어나지만 가난하면 있던 친구도 떠나고 만다.
  5. 거짓 증인은 벌을 면치 못할 것이며 거짓말을 토하는 자도 무사하지 못할 것이다.
  1. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
  2. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
  1. 너그러운 사람에게 은혜를 구하는 자가 많고 선물을 주기 좋아하는 자에게 사람마다 친구가 되고 싶어한다.
  2. 사람이 가난하면 형제들에게도 업신여김을 받는데 어찌 그 친구들이 그를 멀리하지 않겠는가! 아무리 가까이해보려고 해도 그들을 만나기가 어려울 것이다.
