신명기 2:1-3:22

 모세는 가데스 바네아에서 벧브올까지의 여정을 회고하면서 그 동안 이스라엘 민족이 겪었던 일들을 언급했다. 에돔, 모압, 암몬 족속을 괴롭게 하지 말라는 하나님의 말씀에 따라 그들의 땅을 우회한 이스라엘은 헤스본 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥을 정복했다. 요단 강 동편 지역은 므낫세 반 지파와 르우벤, 갓 지파에게 분배되었다.
  
  광야 여정에 대한 회고(2:1-3:22)    
 
  1. Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
  2. And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
  3. Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
  4. And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:
  5. Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.
  1. 우리는, 주님께서 명하신 대로 방향을 바꾸어서 홍해로 가는 길을 따라 광야에 들어섰으며, 여러 날 동안 세일 산 부근에서 떠돌았습니다.
  2. 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 말씀하시기를
  3. '너는 이 백성을 데리고 오랫동안 이 산 부근에서 떠돌았으니, 이제는 방향을 바꾸어서 북쪽으로 가거라' 하셨습니다.
  4. 또 백성에게 지시하라고 하시면서 말씀하시기를 '너희가 세일에 사는 에서의 자손 곧 너희 친족의 땅 경계를 지나갈 때에는, 그들이 너희를 두려워할 터이니, 매우 조심하여라.
  5. 그들의 땅은 한 치도 너희에게 주지 않았으니, 그들과 다투지 말아라. 세일 산은 내가 에서에게 유산으로 주었다.
  1. Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
  2. For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
  3. And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
  4. And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
  5. The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
  1. 먹거리가 필요하면 그들에게 돈을 주고 사서 먹어야 하고, 물이 필요하면 돈을 주고 사서 마셔야 한다' 하셨습니다.
  2. 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들이 하는 모든 일에 복을 내려 주시고, 이 넓은 광야를 지나는 길에서, 당신들을 보살펴 주셨으며, 지난 사십 년 동안 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들과 함께 계셨으므로, 당신들에게는 부족한 것이 아무것도 없었습니다.
  3. 그래서 우리는 엘랏과 에시온게벨에서 시작되는 아라바 길을 따라 세일에 사는 우리의 친족인 에서의 자손이 사는 곳을 비켜 지나왔습니다. 우리가 방향을 바꾸어 모압 광야에 이르는 길로 들어섰을 때에,
  4. 주님께서 나에게 말씀하시기를 '모압을 괴롭히지도 말고, 싸움을 걸지도 말아라. 그 땅은 내가 너에게 유산으로 주기로 한 땅이 아니다. 아르 지역은 내가 이미 롯의 자손에게 유산으로 주었기 때문이다.
  5. （옛적에 그 곳에는 에밈 사람이 살고 있었는데, 그들은 강하고 수도 많았으며, 아낙 족속처럼 키도 컸다.
  1. Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.
  2. The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.
  3. Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.
  4. And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.
  5. For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
  1. 그들은 아낙 족속처럼 르바임으로 알려졌으나, 모압 사람들은 그들을 불러서 에밈이라 하였다.
  2. 세일 지방에도 호리 사람이 살고 있었으나, 에서의 자손이 그들을 쳐부수고 그 땅을 차지하였다. 이것은 이스라엘 백성이 주님께서 유산으로 주신 땅을 차지한 것과 같은 것이다.）
  3. 이제 일어나서 세렛 개울을 건너거라!' 하셨습니다. 그래서 우리는 세렛 개울을 건넜습니다.
  4. 가데스바네아를 떠나서 세렛 개울을 건너기까지, 삼십팔 년 세월이 지나는 동안에, 주님께서 이스라엘 백성에게 맹세하신 대로, 그 때의 모든 군인들이 진 가운데서 다 죽었습니다.
  5. 주님의 손이 그들을 내리쳐서, 진 가운데서 그들을 완전히 멸하셨기 때문입니다.
  1. So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
  2. That the LORD spake unto me, saying,
  3. Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
  4. And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
  5. (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
  1. 백성 가운데서 군인들이 하나도 남김없이 다 죽은 뒤에,
  2. 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다.
  3. '오늘 너는 모압 땅의 경계인 아르를 지나,
  4. 암몬 자손이 사는 곳에 다다를 것이니, 너는 그들을 괴롭히지도 말고, 싸우지도 말아라. 암몬 족속의 땅은 내가 너에게 유산으로 주기로 한 땅이 아니다. 그 곳은 내가 이미 롯의 자손에게 유산으로 주었기 때문이다.
  5. （이 곳도 르바임 땅으로 알려진 곳이다. 전에는 거기에 르바임이 살았는데, 암몬 사람은 그들을 불러서 삼숨밈이라고 하였다.
  1. A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
  2. As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
  3. And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
  4. Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
  5. This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
  1. 그 백성은 강하고 수도 많고 아낙 족속처럼 키도 컸으나, 주님께서 그들을 암몬 사람들 앞에서 진멸시키셨으므로, 암몬 사람이 그 곳을 차지하고, 그들 대신에 그 곳에 살았다.
  2. 이는 마치 주님께서 세일에 사는 에서의 자손에게 하신 일과 같다. 주님께서 에서의 자손 앞에서 호리 사람을 멸망시키시니, 그들이 그 땅을 차지하고, 오늘날까지 호리 사람의 뒤를 이어서 거기에서 산다.
  3. 이것은 또, 크레테에서 온 크레테 사람이, 가사 지역에 살던 아위 사람을 쳐부수고, 그들의 뒤를 이어서 그 곳에서 산 것과 마찬가지이다.）
  4. 너는 일어나서 떠나거라. 그리고 아르논 개울을 건너라. 보아라, 내가 아모리 사람 헤스본 왕 시혼과 그의 땅을 너희의 손에 넘겼으니, 싸워서 차지하여라.

  1. And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
  2. Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
  3. Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
  4. (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.
  5. But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
  1. "그래서 나는 그데못 광야에서 헤스본 왕 시혼에게 사절을 보내어 좋은 말로 요청하였습니다.
  2. '임금님의 땅을 지나가게 하여 주십시오. 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로 벗어나지 아니하고, 길로만 따라 가겠습니다.
  3. 우리가 먹을 것이 필요하면, 임금님께서 우리에게 돈을 받고 파는 것만을 먹고, 마실 것이 필요하면, 임금님께서 돈을 받고 파는 것만을 마시겠습니다. 다만, 걸어서 지나가게만 하여 주시기를 바랍니다.
  4. 세일 지역에 사는 에서의 자손과 아르 지역에 사는 모압 사람이 우리를 지나가게 하여 주었으니, 우리가 요단 강 건너, 우리의 하나님 주께서 우리에게 주시는 땅에 이르도록, 우리를 지나가게 하여 주시기를 바랍니다.'
  5. 그러나 헤스본 왕 시혼은 우리를 그 땅으로 지나가게 하지 않았습니다. 이것은, 주 당신들의 하나님이 오늘처럼 그를 당신들의 손에 넘겨 주시려고, 그의 마음을 완고하게 하시고 성질을 거세게 하셨기 때문입니다.
  1. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
  2. Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
  3. And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
  4. And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
  5. Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
  1. 주님께서 나에게 말씀하시기를 '보아라, 내가 시혼과 그의 땅을 너에게 주었으니, 너는 이제부터 그 땅을 점령하여 유산으로 삼아라' 하셨습니다.
  2. 시혼이 그의 군대를 이끌고 우리와 싸우려고 야하스로 나왔습니다.
  3. 그러나 주 우리 하나님이 그를 우리 손에 넘겨 주셨으므로, 우리는 그와 그의 아들들과 그의 온 군대를 쳐부술 수가 있었습니다.
  4. 그 때에 우리는 모든 성읍을 점령하고, 모든 성읍에서 남자 여자 어린아이 할 것 없이 한 사람도 남기지 않고 전멸시켰습니다.
  5. 오직 가축과 성읍에서 탈취한 물건만은 우리의 소유로 삼았습니다.
  1. From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
  2. Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.
  1. 주 우리의 하나님은 우리가 아르논 골짜기 끝에 있는 아로엘의 모든 성읍과 아르논 골짜기 가운데 있는 성읍을 포함하여, 저 멀리 길르앗에 이르기까지 차지하게 하셨습니다. 그래서 그 일대에서 우리가 빼앗지 못한 성읍이 하나도 없었습니다.
  2. 그러나 우리는, 암몬 자손의 땅과 얍복 강 가와 산지에 있는 성읍들과 또 우리 주 하나님이 우리에게 가지 말라고 하신 곳은, 어느 곳에도 접근하지 않았습니다."
 
 
  1. Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
  2. And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
  3. So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
  4. And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
  5. All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
  1. "그 다음에 우리는 방향을 바꾸어서 바산 길로 올라갔습니다. 그러나 바산 왕 옥이 우리를 맞아 싸우려고, 자기의 군대를 모두 거느리고 에드레이로 나왔습니다.
  2. 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 말씀하시기를 '그를 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 그와 그의 온 군대와 그의 땅을 너의 손에 넘겼으니, 전에 헤스본에 사는 아모리 왕 시혼을 무찌른 것처럼 그를 무찔러라' 하셨습니다.
  3. 주 우리의 하나님은 바산 왕 옥과 그의 백성을 모두 우리 손에 넘겨 주셨으므로, 우리는 그들을 한 사람도 남김없이 쳐죽였습니다.
  4. 그 때에 우리는 그의 성읍을 하나도 남김없이 다 점령하였는데, 바산 왕국의 옥이 다스린 아르곱 전 지역의 성읍은 예순 개나 되었습니다.
  5. 이 성읍은 모두 높은 성벽과 성문과 빗장으로 방비되어 있었습니다. 그리고 그 밖에 성벽이 없는 마을들도 많았습니다.
  1. And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
  2. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.
  3. And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;
  4. (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)
  5. All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
  1. 우리는 헤스본 왕 시혼에게 한 것처럼 그들을 전멸시키고, 모든 성읍에서 남자 여자 어린 아이 할 것 없이 전멸시켰습니다.
  2. 그러나 성읍에서 노획한 모든 집짐승과 물건들은 우리의 전리품으로 삼았습니다.
  3. 그 때에 우리는, 요단 강 동쪽 아르논 개울 가에서 헤르몬 산까지의 땅을, 두 아모리 왕의 손에서 빼앗았습니다.
  4. （시돈 사람들은 헤르몬을 시룐이라 하였고, 아모리 사람들은 스닐이라고 하였다.）
  5. 우리가 빼앗은 땅은, 고원지대의 모든 성읍과, 온 길르앗과 바산의 온 땅, 곧 바산 왕 옥이 다스리는 성읍인 살르가와 에드레이까지입니다."
  1. For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
  2. And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
  3. And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
  4. Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.
  5. And I gave Gilead unto Machir.
  1. （르바임 족속 가운데서 살아 남은 사람은 오직 바산 왕 옥뿐이었다. 쇠로 만든 그의 침대는, 지금도 암몬 자손이 사는 랍바에 있다. 그것은, 보통 자로 재어서, 길이가 아홉 자요 너비가 넉 자나 된다.）
  2. "우리가 그 땅을 차지하였을 때에, 나는 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손에게 아르논 골짜기 곁에 있는 아로엘에서부터 길르앗 산지의 반쪽과 거기에 있는 성읍들을 주었습니다.
  3. 므낫세 반쪽 지파에게는, 길르앗의 남은 땅과 옥의 나라인 온 바산 지역을 주었습니다." （아르곱의 모든 지역 곧 바산을 옛적에는 르바임의 땅이라고 하였다.
  4. 므낫세의 아들 야일은 그술 족속과 마아갓 족속 경계까지 이르는 아르곱 땅을 모두 차지하였다. 그래서 오늘날까지 그의 이름을 따라, 이 바산 지역을 하봇야일이라고 한다.）
  5. "므낫세 지파의 한 가문인 마길에게는 길르앗을 주었습니다.
  1. And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;
  2. The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.
  3. And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.
  4. But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;
  5. Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.
  1. 그리고 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손에게는, 길르앗에서 계곡 중앙을 경계로 한 아르논 계곡까지와 암몬 자손의 경계인 얍복 강까지를 주었습니다.
  2. 그들이 차지한 지역은 서쪽으로는 요단 강까지 이르고, 북쪽으로는 긴네렛 호수까지 이르고, 남쪽으로는 사해까지 이르고, 동쪽으로는 비스가 산 기슭까지 이릅니다.
  3. 그 때에 내가 당신들에게 명령하였습니다. '주 당신들의 하나님은 당신들에게 요단 강 동쪽에 있는 이 땅을 주셔서 차지하게 하셨습니다. 그러므로 당신들은, 당신들의 동기인 이스라엘의 다른 지파들도 땅을 차지할 수 있도록 도와주어야 합니다. 당신들의 용사들은 무장을 하고 이스라엘의 다른 지파들보다 앞서서 요단 강을 건너가십시오.
  4. 다만 당신들의 아내와 어린 아이들은 여기에 남아 있게 하십시오. 그리고 당신들에게 집짐승이 많다는 것은 내가 알고 있으니, 그 집짐승도 당신들의 가족과 함께, 내가 당신들에게 나누어 준 성읍에 머물러 있게 하십시오.
  5. 주님께서는 당신들과 마찬가지로 당신들의 동기들에게도 편히 쉴 곳을 주실 것이니, 그들이 주 당신들의 하나님이 요단 강 서쪽에 마련하여 주신 땅을 차지한 다음에라야, 당신들은 제각기 내가 당신들에게 준 이 땅으로 돌아올 수 있습니다.'
  1. And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.
  2. Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.
  1. 그 때에 내가 여호수아에게 말하였습니다. '너는, 주 우리의 하나님이 이 두 아모리 왕에게 어떻게 하였는가를, 두 눈으로 똑똑히 보았다. 주님께서는, 네가 지나가는 모든 나라에서도 이와 같이 하실 것이다.
  2. 그들을 두려워하지 말아라. 주 우리의 하나님이 너를 대신하여 싸우실 것이다.'"
