- Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
- Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
- Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
- But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
- Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

- "이스라엘 자손 여러분, 지금 내가 당신들에게 가르쳐 주는 규례와 법도를 귀담아 듣고, 그대로 지키십시오. 그러면 당신들이 살아서 주 당신들 조상의 하나님이 당신들에게 주시는 땅에 들어가서, 그 곳을 차지하게 될 것입니다.
- 내가 당신들에게 명령한 말에 한 마디도 더하거나 빼서는 안 됩니다. 당신들은 내가 당신들에게 알려 준 주 당신들의 하나님의 명령을 지켜야 합니다.
- 주님께서 브올 산에서 하신 일을 당신들은 눈으로 직접 보았습니다. 주 당신들의 하나님은, 브올에서 바알 신을 따라간 모든 사람을 당신들 가운데서 쓸어 버리셨습니다.
- 그러나 주 당신들의 하나님을 충실하게 따른 당신들은 오늘까지 모두 살아 있습니다.
- 보십시오, 내가, 주 나의 하나님이 나에게 명하신 대로, 당신들에게 규례와 법도를 가르쳐 주었습니다. 당신들이 들어가 차지할 땅에서 당신들이 그대로 지키도록 하려고 그렇게 가르쳤습니다.

- Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
- For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
- And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
- Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
- Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

- 당신들은 이 규례와 법도를 지키십시오. 그러면 여러 민족이, 당신들이 지혜롭고 슬기롭다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다. 그들이 이 모든 규례에 관해서 듣고, 이스라엘은 정말 위대한 백성이요 지혜롭고 슬기로운 민족이라고 말할 것입니다.
- 주 우리의 하나님은 우리가 기도할 때마다 우리 가까이에 계시는 분이십니다. 이와 같은 하나님을 모신 위대한 민족이 어디에 또 있겠습니까?
- 오늘 내가 당신들에게 주는 이 모든 율법과 같은 바른 규례와 법도를 가진 위대한 민족이 어디에 또 있겠습니까?
- 당신들은 오로지 삼가 조심하여, 당신들의 눈으로 본 것들을 잊지 않도록 정성을 기울여 지키고, 평생 동안 당신들의 마음 속에서 사라지지 않도록 하십시오. 또한 그것을 당신들의 자손에게 길이 알리십시오.
- 당신들이 호렙 산에서 당신들의 하나님이신 주님 앞에 섰던 날에, 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. '이 백성을 나에게로 불러 모아라. 내가 그들에게 나의 말을 들려주어서, 그들이 이 땅에서 사는 동안에 나를 경외하는 것을 배우고, 또 이것을 그들의 아들딸에게 가르치게 하려고 한다.'

- And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
- And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
- And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
- And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
- Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:

- 그리하여 당신들이 산기슭에 가까이 와서 서자, 하늘 한가운데까지 높이 치솟는 불길이 그 산을 휩싸고, 어둠과 검은 구름이 산을 덮었습니다.
- 주님께서 불길 속에서 당신들에게 말씀하셨으므로, 당신들은 말씀하시는 소리만 들었을 뿐, 아무 형상도 보지 못하였습니다. 당신들은 오직 소리를 들었을 뿐입니다.
- 그 때에 주님께서 당신들에게 지키라고 명하시면서, 그 언약을 선포하셨으니, 이것이 곧 그가 두 돌판에 손수 쓰신 십계명입니다.
- 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 명하시기를, 너희가 건너가서 차지할 땅에서 너희가 지켜야 할 규례와 법도를 가르쳐 주라고 하셨습니다."
- "주님께서 호렙 산 불길 속에서 당신들에게 말씀하시던 날, 당신들은 아무 형상도 보지 못했다는 사실을 깊이 명심하십시오.

- Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
- The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
- The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
- And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
- But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.

- 남자의 형상이든지, 여자의 형상이든지, 당신들 스스로가 어떤 형상이라도 본떠서, 새긴 우상을 만들지 않도록 하십시오. 우상을 만드는 것은 스스로 부패하는 것입니다.
- 땅 위에 있는 어떤 짐승의 형상이나, 하늘에 날아다니는 어떤 새의 형상이나,
- 땅 위에 기어 다니는 어떤 동물의 형상이나, 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 어떤 물고기의 형상으로라도, 우상을 만들어서는 안 됩니다.
- 눈을 들어서 하늘에 있는 해와 달과 별들, 하늘의 모든 천체를 보고 미혹되어서, 절을 하며 그것들을 섬겨서는 안 됩니다. 하늘에 있는 해와 달과 별과 같은 천체는 주 당신들의 하나님이 이 세상에 있는 다른 민족들이나 섬기라고 주신 것입니다.
- 그러나 당신들은, 주님께서 용광로와 같은 이집트에서 건져내셔서, 오늘 이렇게 자기의 소유로 삼으신 백성입니다.

- Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
- But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.
- Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
- For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
- When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:

- 주님께서는 당신들 때문에 나에게 분노하셨습니다. 그래서 내가 요단 강을 건너가지 못하게 하신 것이며, 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 유산으로 주기로 하신 그 아름다운 땅에도 들어가지 못하게 하겠다고 맹세하신 것입니다.
- 나는 이 땅에서 죽을 것이므로 요단 강을 건너가지 못하겠지만, 당신들은 건너가서 그 좋은 땅을 차지할 것입니다.
- 당신들은, 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들과 세우신 언약을 잊지 말고 지켜야 합니다. 그리고 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 금하신 대로, 어떤 형상의 우상도 만들어서는 안 됩니다.
- 주 당신들의 하나님은 삼키는 불이시며, 질투하는 하나님이십니다.
- 당신들이 자식을 낳고, 또 그 자식이 자식을 낳아, 그 땅에서 오래 산 뒤에, 어떤 형상의 우상이든, 우상을 만들어 섬기거나, 주 당신들의 하나님의 눈에 거슬리는 행동을 하면,

- I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
- And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
- And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
- But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
- When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

- 오늘 내가 하늘과 땅을 증인으로 세울 것이니, 당신들이 요단 강을 건너가 차지하는 땅에서 반드시 곧 멸망할 것입니다. 그 땅에서 오래 살지 못하고, 반드시 망할 것입니다.
- 주님께서는 당신들을 여러 민족 사이에 흩으실 것입니다. 주님께서 당신들을 쫓아보내실 그 곳 백성 사이에서 살아 남을 사람이 많지 않을 것입니다.
- 당신들은 거기에서, 사람이 나무와 돌로 만든 신, 즉 보지도 못하고 듣지도 못하고 먹지도 못하고 냄새도 맡지 못하는 신을 섬기게 될 것입니다.
- 거기에서 당신들은 당신들의 하나님이신 주님을 찾을 것입니다. 당신들이 하나님을 찾되 마음과 성품을 다하여 하나님을 찾으면 만날 것입니다.
- 당신들이 환난을 당하고, 마지막 날에 이 모든 일이 당신들에게 닥치면, 그 때에 가서야 비로소 당신들은 주 당신들의 하나님께로 돌아와, 그에게 귀를 기울일 것입니다.

- (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
- For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
- Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
- Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
- Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

- 주 당신들의 하나님은 자비로운 하나님이시니, 당신들을 버리시거나 멸하시지 않고, 또 당신들의 조상과 맺으신 언약을 잊지도 않으실 것입니다.
- 당신들이 태어나기 전에, 하나님이 이 땅 위에 사람을 창조하신 날부터 이제까지, 지나간 때를 깊이 생각하여 보십시오. 하늘 이 끝에서 저 끝에 이르기까지, 온 세계를 깊이 생각하여 보십시오. 그리고 이런 큰 일을 본 적이 있는지, 들은 적이 있는지 물어 보십시오.
- 당신들처럼, 불 가운데서 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 듣고도 살아 남은 백성이 있습니까?
- 주 당신들의 하나님이 이집트에서 당신들이 보는 앞에서 하신 것처럼, 온갖 시험과 표징과 기사와 전쟁과 강한 손과 펴신 팔과 큰 두려움으로 한 민족을 다른 민족의 억압에서 이끌어 내시려고 애쓰신, 그러한 신이 어디에 있습니까?
- 그러나 당신들에게 이것을 나타내셨으니, 그것은 주님이 곧 하나님이시고, 그분 밖에는 다른 신이 없음을 알게 하시려는 것입니다.

- Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
- And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
- To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
- Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
- Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

- 주님께서는 당신들을 단련하시려고, 당신들에게 하늘로부터 그의 음성을 들려주시고, 땅 위에서는 그의 큰 불을 보여 주셨습니다. 그래서 당신들은 불 가운데서 그의 말씀을 들었던 것입니다.
- 주님께서는 당신들의 조상을 사랑하셨으므로, 뒤에 그 자손을 택하셨고, 그 크신 힘으로 몸소 당신들을 이집트에서 이끌어 내셨습니다.
- 그리고 당신들보다 크고 강한 민족을 당신들의 앞에서 쫓아내시고, 당신들을 그 땅으로 이끌어 들이시고, 그 땅을 유산으로 주어서 오늘에 이르게 하신 것입니다.
- 오늘 당신들은 마음에 새겨 분명히 알아 둘 것이 있으니, 주님은 위로는 하늘에서도 아래로는 땅에서도 참 하나님이시며, 그 밖에 다른 신은 없다는 것입니다.
- 당신들은 오늘 내가 당신들에게 알려 주는 주님의 규례와 명령을 지키십시오. 그러면 당신들과 당신들의 자손이 잘 살게 되고, 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 영원히 주시는 땅에서 길이 살 것입니다."

- Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
- That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
- Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.
- And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
- These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt.

- 그 때에 모세는 요단 강 동쪽 해 뜨는 편에 세 성읍을 지정하였다.
- 그 곳은, 어떤 사람이든지 전에 미워한 일이 없는 이웃을 실수로 죽였을 경우에, 가해자가 이 성읍 가운데 하나로 피신하면 목숨을 건지게 되는 곳이다.
- 그 지정된 성읍들 가운데 하나는 르우벤 지파가 차지한 평원지대 광야에 있는 베셀이고, 또 하나는 갓 지파가 차지한 길르앗에 있는 라못이고, 나머지 하나는 므낫세 지파가 차지한 바산에 있는 골란이다.
- 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 선포한 율법은 다음과 같다.
- 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 나올 때에, 한 곳에 이르러서 모세가 그들에게 아래와 같은 훈령과 규례와 법도를 선포하였는데,

- On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:
- And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
- From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,
- And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.

- 그 곳은 요단 강 동쪽 벳브올 맞은쪽 골짜기로, 헤스본에 사는 아모리 왕 시혼의 땅이다. 시혼은 모세와 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 나올 때에 쳐서 멸한 왕이다.
- 이스라엘 백성은 시혼이 다스린 땅과 바산 왕 옥이 다스린 땅을 차지하였는데, 이 두 왕은 해 뜨는 쪽인, 요단 강 동쪽에 살던 아모리 족의 왕이다.
- 이스라엘 백성이 차지한 지역은 아르논 강 어귀에 있는 아로엘에서 헤르몬이라고 하는 시리온 산까지와,
- 요단 강 동쪽에 있는 온 아라바 지역과, 비스가 산 밑에 있는 아라바 바다까지이다.
